This episode of TRP Podcast is dedicated to Uncle Tom Luckey of Humbolt, Tennessee. Today is his funeral at Antioch Baptist Church in Humbolt, not far from the farm on which he grew up and worked his entire life. The time stamps for Uncle Tom comments are as follows: 1) at the beginning, 2) minute 42-43, 3) the one hour mark, 4) and at the very ending few minutes. The rest is about why Gorsuch is wrong in Bostock v. Clayton County Georgia (2020)(part 5 in a series) about his faulty assumption that unexamined and unexplained transgenderism premises about sex and gender are properly included under "sex discrimination" language in Title VII of the 1964 Civil Rights Act -- a real hoot. Part 5: We continue our in-depth examination of sex, gender, and separation of powers in the US Supreme Court decision Bostock v. Clayton County, GA 590 U.S. 644 (2020): the Republican dispute, how to understand it, and what to do about it. We cover Gorsuch's Opinion for the Court through his Roman Numeral III.A , and stop at his III.B. We'll cover his III.B next time. Part 5. The Republican Professor is a pro-separation-of-powers-rightly-construed podcast. The Republican Professor is produced and hosted by Dr. Lucas J. Mather, Ph.D.

Part of the mission of the ERLC is to assist churches by helping fellow Baptists understand the moral demands of the gospel. We also apply Christian principles to moral and social problems and questions of public policy. One of the ways we fulfill this mission is by partnering with like-minded individuals, churches, and institutions across the Southern Baptist Convention to produce work that is accessible and applicable to both the layperson and the scholar. Today, we'll highlight two instances of cooperation in the area of gender and sexuality issues. The first involves our resource, “God's Good Design: A Practical Guide for Answering Gender Confusion.” The second involves our public policy advocacy with the Baptist Convention of Iowa. Together, we signed onto an amicus brief in defense of parental rights. We'll talk to Dane Hays, family pastor of Antioch Baptist Church in Decatur, AL, about the “Gender Guide.” Dane has served in counseling and discipleship for over 20 years. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Social Psychology from UAB and a Masters of Divinity from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary where he studied biblical counseling and theology. You'll also hear from Tim Lubinus, the executive director of the Baptist Convention of Iowa, about the amicus brief. Prior to his current role, Tim was a missions pastor and served overseas on the mission field with the International Mission Board. He received a Masters of Divinity from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and has a Doctor of Ministry from Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.

In this episode of Stand Firm Parents, host Jake McCandless dives deep into the critical role that parents play in the spiritual formation and discipleship of their children. Joined by special guest Dr. Jonathan Cofer, a seasoned student pastor at Antioch Baptist Church in Conway, Arkansas, the conversation highlights the importance of parents as the primary disciple-makers in their children's lives. Key Takeaways: Family Discipleship: Dr. Cofer emphasizes that the concept of family discipleship, although often overlooked, is rooted deeply in Scripture. Parents are called to be the main spiritual leaders in their homes, guiding their children in their walk with Jesus. Scriptural Foundations: The episode unpacks several key Bible passages, such as Deuteronomy 6 and Proverbs 22, that underscore the responsibility of parents to train their children in the faith. Practical Steps for Parents: Both Jake and Dr. Cofer share practical advice for parents to begin or continue the discipleship journey at home. This includes reading Scripture together, praying as a family, and simply talking about Jesus in everyday life. The Influence of Parents: Dr. Cofer discusses the significant impact parents have on their children's spiritual lives. He notes that while youth pastors and church leaders play a role, the influence of parents is unmatched due to the time they spend with their children and the values they model. Encouragement for Parents: The episode concludes with an encouraging message for parents to remain faithful in their role, recognizing that their efforts in discipleship, no matter how small, are vital and impactful. Quotes: "Parents are the primary disciple-makers, and we see that clearly in Scripture." "It's not about doing something extraordinary, but about being consistent and intentional in your walk with God as a family." Stupid News Extra 9-22-2023 …Strange Doings at the Antioch Baptist Church
I was taking a walk at the Kensico Dam in Valhalla, NY when I spotted a woman working out swinging ‘sumthin' in the distance. I was curious what the heck she was doing and wanted to ask her. So, I walked over and saw she was swinging a contraption around her waist and hips, similar to what we used to do as kids with that old Skip-It toy you'd swing around your ankle and jump over with your other leg. 'Weighted Hula Hoops' she said are a Tik Tok Trend. Who Knew? I instantly felt I might need one too! LOL I got to talking with Dr. Karen Blacks, who said according to her app, her 20 minutes of 'hula hooping' was the same as walking 2 miles, plus it tightens your core, she said. A few laughs later, I find out like me, Dr. Blacks enjoys talking to strangers, so I told her about my upcoming little book, “How To Talk To Strangers, Advice From A Professional Stranger Talker.” Then she told me she wrote a book called 'Experiencing God in The Ordinary'. Then she mentioned she was excited she was being ordained at a Baptist Minister that weekend, then… I invited her on my show to share the big hula hoop discovery and celebrate her accomplishment! Meanwhile, next day Amazon delivered my own 'weighted hula hoop'. I chose blue. It was pretty easy to figure out how to size it to my waist and attach the weighted thingy. What was challenging was figuring ‘where' to hula. I tried it inside my house and almost cleared all the glasses off my bar. I was too embarrassed to let my neighbors see me hula swinging outside my house, so I waited till almost dark and tried it out for like 2 minutes. Then I put it in my car and figured I'd just keep it there for when I went walking and do it in a random park. But every time I was about to take it out and swing it around, I thought I'd look stupid, so I didn't. One day just as I walked into a CVS drugstore, my phone rang, and it was my bestie Mo calling from the parking lot telling me that I'd just parked next to her and walked past her car without noticing. I knew she was in a funky mood, so I thought I'd cheer her up on the way back out, and make her laugh by showing off my moves with my new hula hoop in the parking lot while she watched from inside her car. That was a good laugh. Anyway, I finally found the perfect spot to do my hula exercise, a hideaway grassy area in my local park. The other day after walking I put it on, and got my weighted hula hooping swinging up to 5 minutes and found myself sweating. Even crazier, I checked my ‘steps' on my iPhone and sure enough it was like I had walked another half mile. I'm getting the hang of it now. Last night after walking, right around dusk when I got back to my car in a mostly empty parking lot, I figured no one would notice me hula swinging. So I put it on, and hula hooped with my phone in my hand to just again see if it counted as ‘steps'. Out of the corner of my eye I saw random woman walking in the distance toward her parked car but paid her no mind, until she turned and started walking toward me and I knew why. In her Norwegian accent she said,… ‘What' is that thing you're doing?” I was laughing while still hooping as I told her, I had done the same exact thing when I saw the random Baptist Minister swinging her weighted hula hoop. Now the Norwegian lady wanted to get one too. So, while still swinging away, I gave her the name of it to look it up on Amazon. Anyway, I decided some of you after reading this story, might get a kick out of the idea and want to try a weighted hula hoop too. I got my 'Dumoyi Smart Weighted Fit Hoop on Amazon'. Let me know if you get one. LOL Meanwhile listen in and have some laughs and meet my latest 'Random Run In' Dr. Karen Blacks in this podcast of our live conversation from The Debbie Nigro Show. When she's not 'hula hooping' at the dam, Dr. Karen Blacks serves as the Associate Minister, and Minister of Women's Initiatives at Antioch Baptist Church in Bedford Hills, New York. Dr. Blacks is also the founder of Women of God in the World, a welcoming community of over 10,000 women from 30+ countries. Dr. Blacks holds a Master of Divinity and a Doctor of Ministry from New York Theological Seminary and a Certificate of Specialization in Leadership and Management from Harvard Business School Online. She also has a heart for volunteering and can be found distributing food to those in need in the White Plains community. She serves on the Town of Bedford Prison Relations Advisory Committee, is a member of the Westchester NY Black Women's Political Caucus and is on the board of the Women's Empowerment Forum located in Liberia, Africa.
Homer G Phillips Hospital, belongs to the Ville neighborhood and to the African American community, its history and its culture in StLouis mo. It was my privilege and perhaps even my duty ,to have this discussion with the leadership of the Homer G Phillips Nurses Alumni Association, concerning their lawsuit against developer Paul McKee, for copyright infringement. ——— I was joined in studio by Yvonne Jones, President of HGP Nurses Association and Zenobia Thompson, Vice Chairman and a long time healthcare activist l, in the StLouis metro area. ——— Our conversation focused on McKee's misappropriation, of the historic black hospital's name, from the African American community for his, for profit 3 bed healthcare facility located near downtown StLouis. ——— It was hard for me to be the objective host, for this discussion, given my history with Homer G Phillis Hospital. ——— I was born there, my son Christian Thompson ,was born there, my late mother, Mrs Emma Lou Thompson, a LPN worked there for some 40 years and was dedicated to Homer G Phillips and her many healthcare colleagues, while working the 11p to 7am shift for over 4 decades. ——— Homer G Phillips Hospital, was opened in 1937 on Whittier ave. in the Ville neighborhood, around the corner from the Sumner High School, Antioch Baptist Church and the iconic Annie Malone Children's Home. —— The hospital gained national recognition for its excellent training of black physicians, nurses and surgeons, who were denied access to interning at hospitals, throughout the south during that time period. ——— Homer G Phillips Hospital, was ranked in the top ten public hospitals, across the nation, while training medical students, from across the globe. Homer G Phillips was closed in 1979, by former mayor Jim Conway an unforgivable act, that caused him to be a one term mayor, as Congressman Bill Clay Sr., had promised him he would be, if he indeed closed Homer G Phillips Hospital.------ The copyright lawsuit, brought by the Homer G Phillips Nurses Alumni Association, against Paul McKee, was filed in 2022 and is scheduled to be heard, in January 2024. —— Ours is a passionate conversation that you need to hear, it's our black history, our culture and legacy that's once again being threatened. ——— The Homer G Phillips Nurses Association, needs our support. A GoFundMe account has been established, to support this lawsuit. Please visit Fundraiser by the Change The Name Coalition. ———

I Want to be Eaten Up in the Land of Jordan - Bro. David Young Pastor of Antioch Baptist Church, Harlem, GA Text: Numbers 13:32 January 4, 2022 - 7PM
Mala grew up on a small island in Africa’s vast Lake Malawi. Raised an Anglican, he neglected church and made basketball his idol in his college years, desiring a career in the NBA. Yet Mala’s dreams came to a screeching halt when he was stabbed by a gang of thugs and left for dead. No longer able to play ball due to his serious injuries, he grew bitter against God and turned to liquor. Reflecting on his near-death experience, Mala realized that God had spared his life. Jesus’ words in John 3 pierced him. Confronted on his need for a new birth at a Bible study, he gave his life to Christ. Following his conversion, Mala met missionary Frank Maxson who discipled him in the faith and deepened his understanding of Scripture. Sensing a call to full-time ministry, Mala left his telecommunications job, founding Antioch Baptist Church in Blantyre, Malawi, where he has served as pastor since 2008.
