Absolute Power sees the return of Jax-Ur and Mala on a new planet Superman has to defend before they head to Earth.
Greetings, dear listener, and welcome back to "Jump on the Bat-Wagon" with James and Brian, where we watch through the entire DC Animated Universe from start to finish in the controversial airdate order, to experience these shows the way human beings experienced them in the far-gone days of the 1990s. The twist? Brian has never seen any of the DCAU. Will he become a super-fan like James or regret his decision? This week's episode: "Absolute Power" "Superman: The Animated Series" Original airdate: 1/16/1999 Superman confronts Jax-Ur and Mala as he defends a distant planet that the two Kryptonian outlaws have enslaved. The Good Brothers return for another Superman: The Animated Series review as they pick up where they left off last week with Part 2 of "Blasts from the Past." Hear the hosts discuss Emil Hamilton's naming of the "Fortress of Solitude", speculation on where the Earth's other heroes might have been during Jax-Ur and Mala's takeover, and a goosebump inducing moment for one of the hosts. Plus hear more of the boys' Emil Hamilton lore, where Hasbro missed out on making a scuba suit 4-pack and one of the hosts thinks the storyboard artists had the italicized lock on for the third act. Plus hear which plot points fall victim to the Mandela Effect for both Cal & Liam and hear a sneak peek at next week's Superman-themed DCAU Spotlight episode and much more await on this week's all new DCAU Review! Charles Skaggs and Jesse Jackson are back to discuss "A Better Yesterday", the fifth episode from Season 2 of the Syfy series Krypton, featuring Brainiac helping Seg-El deal with General Zod, Nyssa-Vex learning she was responsible for multiple deaths of Wegthor rebels, and Jax-Ur making a shocking move! Welcome back, Kandorians. Krypton has finally returned after leaving us on that wild cliffhanger from the season one finale. Tonight's premiere, "Light-Years From Home" drops us into a much-changed Kandor. General Dru-Zod has been busy in the months since Seg trapped himself and Brainiac in the Phantom Zone. Lyta has fallen in line with her son. Oh, how this character has changed from where she first started out last season. Hit play and listen in as Brad and Cort break down Ep 2x01, "Light-Years From Home". First, were you as pumped as Brad to see our new favorite character, Lobo? We recorded before today, but how awesome is the news that Syfy is developing a Lobo-centric Krypton spin-off? Besides, meeting the badass bounty hunter, this episode puts Seg through it. Those Phantom Zone visions are no joke. Then he ends up on a road trip with the most unlikely of partners. How cool was it to see him reunited with Adam? Meanwhile, Seg's grandfather, Val-El is back in the flesh and helping Jax-Ur lead the resistance? Do they have what it takes to succeed against Dru-Zod and Lyta? Is Lyta somehow playing the long game and acting as some kind of double agent for the resistance? Or has Seg's love gone over to the dark side?Give us a listen and then be sure to drop a comment or in our Facebook group with your thoughts on Ep 2x01 “Light-Years From Home". SYFY series Krypton returned to San Diego Comic-Con for its second year, as the series' cast and producers looked back on the Superman prequel's first season and spilled some secrets about what we might see in Season 2. Krypton Podcast/DC TV Podcasts participated in the press room for Krypton this year where Lacy Baugher (of Krypton Podcast) chatted with the cast at the round tables to discuss the series. Krypton star Wallis Day, who plays Nyssa Vex, sat down with the roundtables to talk about her character's Season 1 arc. (Spoiler alert: She's an even bigger Nyssa stan than our co-host Lacy is, and if you listen to Krypton Podcast at all, you know that's a lot.) During the interview, Day discussed: What Nyssa's relationship with Jax-Ur will be like in Season 2 What it's like to be part of a genre show with so many great women on it Nyssa's development from a schemer to a more three-dimensional character (Apologies in advance that we completely messed up recording this, but Day's comments are still worth listening to, even if you'll probably most of the time wondering how Lacy is such a bad videographer that our subject is missing a head.) Snark McGill RETURNS for a brand-spanking new installment of "I've Got A Few Things To Say About SUPERMAN!" and a continuing look into the origins of THE PHANTOM ZONE! _____________________________________________________________________________________________________ In this episode (recorded almost a year ago!), we take a look at two more tales that feature into the expanding mythos of THE PHANTOM ZONE! We begin with a short, 'lil 9-pager from Superman (volume 1, of course) #150 entitled "The One Minute of Doom" in which the whole Superman Family seems to have come down with a serious case o' the blues all at the same time! What could be the cause of this mysterious moodswing? And, then, the feature attraction for this time 'round, "The Babe of Steel" from Action Comics #284, presents NOT a tale of Superman as a tike, but instead some Super-fun (and not a little bit Super-whacky) hijinks of Superman PURPOSELY reducing himself to baby-size! For what possible reason would the Man of Tomorrow put himself through diapers again? Listen in to discover why and hear Snark immediately give an easier alternative solution! It's All Good Clean Fun for ALL-AGES! (Promise!) This is the first of a three part series where we cover those abilities, traits, and powers that set Superman part in the Man of Steel. In this episode, we cover: Natural Born Kryptonian Kryptonian Codex Respiratory Adaptation Genetic Memory Super Hearing X-Ray Vision While covering our topics, we will discuss and answer the following questions: What kind of baggage did Jor-El have preventing him from coming to Earth? How could Jax-Ur discover the Codex was bonded to Kal-El from a blood sample but be unable to recover the Codex from the sample? How could the Codex be bonded to Kal-El? Why did the film show us blood cells? How could that work? Is there evidence Superman can use his powers without breathing? As a child, who was Clark imitating by wearing a cape? If Superman has super hearing, how does he get surprised? What is the maximum range of super hearing? What does auditory omniscience mean? Can Superman use his X-Ray Vision to uncover Batman's secret identity in Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice? ...and more! [EDIT: I totally forgot about the interrogation scene where Superman is able to read Hamilton's ID card! That changed the X-Ray Vision analysis some.] Cells that Last a Lifetime Yahoo Movies Blu-Ray Release Q&A - Hosted by Kevin Smith and Featuring Zack Snyder, Amy Adams, & Henry Cavill Acoustic Reflex Potato Chip Microphone Web: ManOfSteelAnswers.com Twitter: @mosanswers Subscribe: iTunes / RSS / Stitcher / YouTube Proud member of the Superman Podcast Network!
