Why does the same truth produce such different results in people's lives? In this sermon, Pastor Dave Gibson explores Jesus' parable of the soils and what it reveals about the condition of our hearts—especially in today's culture. Some hear the truth and reject it. Others receive it quickly but fall away. Some are distracted and choked by the cares of life. And a few truly receive it and bear fruit. This message challenges us to examine the “soil” of our own hearts and consider whether we've become hardened, shallow, or distracted—and what it looks like to become good soil. This isn't just a personal question—it's a cultural one. Episode 5227: The Threat Of Terrism On American Soil Continues To Rise
A suspect is dead after ramming a vehicle into a Detroit-area synagogue. Law enforcement sources tell CNN the vehicle is registered to a man originally from Lebanon, and authorities are investigating reports that he had family members who were killed in an Israeli airstrike in recent days. And, in Virginia, a fatal shooting at Old Dominion University is being investigated by the FBI as an act of terrorism. The attacker has been identified as a veteran who has served prison time for trying to aid ISIS. Also, Iran threatened to set the region's oil and gas infrastructure “on fire” if Iranian energy sites are attacked. Plus, the U.S. military says that a refueling aircraft was lost over western Iraq. A decorated U.S. veteran survives combat overseas—only to be murdered at home by a convicted ISIS supporter who had already pleaded guilty to terrorism charges. Tara exposes the shocking case, the immigration and national security failures surrounding it, and why some say the messaging battle in Washington is being lost. Why was a convicted terrorist free in America—and who's being held accountable? Episode Summary: In this explosive episode, Tara examines the shocking killing of a beloved American veteran who survived deployments during Operation Iraqi Freedom and other overseas missions—only to be murdered on U.S. soil by a man who had already pleaded guilty to providing material support to ISIS. According to former FBI Special Agent Nicole Parker, the attacker had been convicted of terrorism charges but was later released and living freely in the United States. Tara and Lee discuss the controversy surrounding how a naturalized citizen convicted of supporting a terrorist organization was not denaturalized and deported. The episode also recounts the dramatic and terrifying moment when unarmed students reportedly confronted the attacker after the killing, ultimately subduing him themselves to stop the threat. Beyond the tragic event, Tara shifts to the broader political battle over border security, immigration enforcement, and national messaging. She argues that Republicans are failing to effectively communicate their case to the American public, despite what she claims are strong facts on issues like suspected terrorists entering the country and alleged misuse of Social Security numbers. The show closes with a critique of political messaging strategies in Washington, arguing that the lack of a coordinated communication strategy could cost political momentum on major issues including immigration, Iran policy, and the economy. Key Topics Covered: Murder of a U.S. veteran by a convicted ISIS supporter Debate over denaturalization and deportation for terrorism convictions The role of immigration policy in national security debates Students confronting and stopping the attacker Political messaging battles surrounding immigration and terrorism Criticism of Republican communication strategy The broader fight over public opinion on national security He survived war overseas—but was killed at home by a convicted ISIS supporter. The question shaking the country: Why was the attacker still free in America? When American bombs dropped on Iran, a mysterious shortwave radio station began broadcasting a list of numbers in Farsi across the globe. Reminiscent of Cold War spy communications, the broadcast raises serious questions: Where is the broadcast coming from, and who is listening to it? Is Iran sending messages to terrorist sleeper cells in the United States? And how is the Trump administration addressing these concerns, if at all? Industrial farming has weakened soil biology, reduced food quality, and contributed to chronic disease, prompting renewed focus on soil health as a foundation for human health and agricultural resilience Regenerative agriculture rebuilds soil without reliance on heavy chemical inputs. This approach improves water retention, nutrient density, and long-term farm productivity In December 2025, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) launched a $700 million Regenerative Pilot Program to support farmers transitioning to soil-building practices The program uses existing conservation funds, public-private partnerships, and a unified application process to reduce administrative burden and make regenerative practices more accessible You can support regenerative agriculture through your daily food choices by prioritizing food from regenerative farmers, choosing pasture-raised meat and dairy, and avoiding ultraprocessed foods
Week of 11/24/25: Mike and Laureen break down the recent high-profile Oval Office meeting between NYC Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani and President Trump, focusing not just on what was discussed, but what was left unsaid. The episode features a compelling clip from political commentator Ken LaCorte, who explains why Palestinians continue their struggle despite overwhelming losses. The hosts discuss a conversation between CBS' Major Garrett and the Free Press' Tanner Nau and analyze Nick Fuentes' efforts to influence the Republican Party by mobilizing young right-wing voters through a new nonprofit organization with openly antisemitic and racist aims. The week's headlines included the PLO's "pay to slay" incentivized terrorism program; a report from the Institute for Standing Against Global Antisemitism on Qatar's $20B influence campaign in U.S. universities; and President Trump's designation of certain Muslim Brotherhood chapters as global terrorist organizations. In closing, Mike and Laureen condemn a disturbing incident at the University of South Florida, where Muslim students praying on a parking garage rooftop were harassed, leading to three arrests. Yesterday, The Talking Heads, today, Dylan. The Great Man's Jewish identity has long been overshadowed by his pantheistic status as American prophet. So when, for example, at the beginning of his biopic “A Complete Unknown”, Dylan arrives in Greenwich Village, he is presented as having no history, like a biblical prophet wandering out of the desert. But the London-based historian Harry Freedman argues against this tabula rasa version. In Bob Dylan: Jewish Roots, American Soil, Freedman suggests that Dylan's upbringing in a committed Jewish family in Hibbing, Minnesota—complete with B'nai B'rith leadership and summer camps—profoundly influenced his artistic vision and social consciousness. From his early protest songs to his recent embrace of Chabad fundraising, Freedman argues his Jewish heritage makes him equally Zimmerman and Dylan, a Known Unknown. five takeaways* Dylan's Jewish upbringing was deeply embedded - Far from superficial, his family life included his father as B'nai B'rith president, mother active in Hadassah, Jewish summer camps, and a 500-person Bar Mitzvah in a town with only 280 Jews.* Early career involved deliberate identity concealment - Dylan spent his first 3-4 years creating elaborate backstories about circus and carnival origins to hide his middle-class Jewish background, likely due to antisemitism and desire to fit folk music's authenticity narrative.* Jewish cultural values shaped his protest period - Freedman argues Dylan's focus on social justice and civil rights emerged from growing up in an environment emphasizing welfare and human rights, typical of Jewish immigrant communities.* His genius lay in lyrics, not initial musicianship - Dylan's early success stemmed from extraordinary wordplay and poetic ability rather than musical skill, making him fundamentally a poet who set words to music.* Late-career Jewish reconnection - After his Christian period in the 1980s, Dylan has become increasingly involved with Jewish causes, particularly Chabad fundraising, suggesting his roots remained significant throughout his life. Civilian supremacy over the military remains inviolate in our history and constitution. But what happens when a civilian Commander in Chief, such as Pres. Washington or Pres. Trump, legally deploy the U.S. military or federalized National Guard on American soil? This story is as old as our democracy. One could even argue that the use of militia to crush rebellion in America was a major contributing factor in the founding of the United States. In this interview, we discuss the history and evolution of the civil-military relations in the United States and draw comparisons to and lessons from other countries.

The FBI successfully smoked out two agents of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) who were acting on American soil, attempting to bribe and manipulate the IRS into doing China's bidding. After they were caught, the two men wound up pleading guilty—and just about a week ago, they were sentenced to prison. The story of who these men were, how they got recruited, the plan they were enacting, the specific CCP policy that they were pushing forward—as well as how the FBI was able to ultimately sniff them out and capture them—is fascinating to say the least. And tracking the story, it gives us a glimpse into what the FBI can do at its best, and secondly, the kind of lengths that the CCP will go to in hopes of silencing dissent of any kind.
