#71: Clay Martin is currently an NFL referee. Growing up in Tulsa, OK Clay was a great athlete at Nathan Hale High School. After high school, Clay had the opportunity to play basketball and football at the University of Tulsa and then basketball at OBU.During his time at OBU he helped his team reach the NAIA national championship and was able to play under legendary coach Bob Hoffman. After graduating Clay decided to get into college coaching. After a few years coaching college basketball he felt led to get into coaching high school basketball. This decision ultimately landed him a job at Jenks High School where he helped establish and build the program into one of the top high school programs in the state of Oklahoma. He discuses his experiences coaching at Jenks from leadership, buy-in, being coachable, going the extra mile, as well as his journey to become an NFL referee and much more. Enjoy the show!

Amy is in her 9th year of teaching, with experience teaching 5th- 12th grade choirs, AP Music Theory, and music appreciation. Currently, Amy directs the 5th- 8th grade choirs and assistant directs the High School choir at Casady School in Oklahoma City. Before Casady, Amy taught at Edmond Sequoyah Middle School, Jenks High School, and Midwest City High School. While in Tulsa, she directed the Tulsa Youth Opera Singing Essentials class. Amy has served as the Junior High Chair of the Central Oklahoma Choral Directors Association, is a member of NAfME (National Association for Music Educators) and ACDA (American Choral Directors Association), and enjoys acting as clinician and adjudicator for choirs. In this special episode of the Life and Football podcast with Gabe Lynn. Gabe Lynn is currently the Defensive Back Coach for Houston Baptist University Football. Coach Lynn gave us great insight on his upbringing and how his dad was his Coach and all of his brothers played Football. His also speaks on how he and his wife Nicole Lynn who is an agent handles their busy schedules. Prior to HBU, Lynn was cornerbacks coach at Oklahoma Baptist and at Central Oklahoma. He also coached defensive backs at Norman High School. Lynn was a three year starter at Oklahoma, where he earned All-Big 12 honors, both on the field and academically, then went on to play professionally with the Detroit Lions and Winnipeg Blue Bombers.  He received his undergraduate degree in multi-disciplinary studies from OU in 2013 and his Master’s degree in human relations in 2015. The Jenks, Oklahoma, native was an Army All-American at Jenks High School.

This month on C-SPAN, the public affairs network has been airing short documentaries created by Jenks High School students, winners in the network's annual Student Cam video documentary competition. Leviathan Lee and Mason Chow won 1st Prize for their documentary on the opioid crisis "200,000." Several other Jenks student entries won awards which featured over 5400 entries nationwide. This is a common occurrence for the documentary filmmaking program at Jenks. My guest today is their teacher Clifton Raphael. His students have won a regional Emmy and numerous awards and fellowships over the years. Today, Jenks graduates are working in Hollywood and making documentary films as a career.

Episode 303 Clay Martin is entering his fifth season as an NFL official, and his second as a referee. The former college point guard at Oklahoma Baptist University, is also a high school basketball coach at Jenks High School in Oklahoma.  Martin bias also a former NCAA Division 1 assistant basketball coach with Texas Pan-American under Bob Hoffman. His football officiating career began in 2005. He began his college career in 2007 with Conference USA as a line judge where he worked the 2011 Conference USA championship, the 2011 Outback Bowl, the 2012 Holiday Bowl, the 2014 Conference USA championship and the 2015 East-West Shrine Game.    During his time as a college basketball player with OBU, his team reach the NAIA championship game in 1997 and the quarterfinals in 1999. He was a third-team All-American in 1999 and an honorable mention All-American in 1998. Coach Jordan Johnson (CPR, USAW, CSCCA) is the Director of Strength and Conditioning Owasso High School in Oklahoma. Jordan is an Oklahoma native from Texhoma in the Oklahoma Panhandle.  He graduated from Texas Tech in 2007 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Science and a Minor in Health.
