Začala ten problém studovat a řešit, teď o tom chystáme podcastový seriál.”

In our final full-length episode of this season of Beyond BattleCreek, we sit down with Pastor Alex and his wife Meredith. In this all-encompassing conversation, we covered everything from Alex and Meredith meeting at a small Christian college, their years in youth ministry in Northwest Arkansas, how BattleCreek Church was almost launched in Manhattan, and being called to a dying church in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. One thing in particular struck me from my conversation from this conversation. As Alex was recounting taking a non-paying ministry job right after he married Meredith, he told me "you have to be willing to go anywhere, before God will call you somewhere." In calling Alex and Meredith to BattleCreek Church, God has helped turned Broken Arrow into the place to be.

10 lat przed zburzeniem Jerozolimy, król babiloński Nabuchodonozor uprowadził do niewoli króla Jehojachina. W 2 Królewskiej 24:8 czytamy o nim: "Jehojachin miał osiemnaście lat, gdy objął władzę królewską, a panował w Jeruzalemie trzy miesiące". W 2 Królewskiej 25:27 czytamy: "W trzydzieści siedem lat po uprowadzeniu do niewoli Jehojachina, króla judzkiego (...) wypuścił Ewil-Merodach, król babiloński, w roku objęcia przezeń władzy królewskiej, Jehojachina, króla judzkiego, z więzienia". Jak wyglądało to więzienie?Kolejne wersety mówią, że król miał tam więzienne szaty. Później król Babilonu zaprosił go do zmiany tych szat i zaprosił go aby z nim jadał przy stole. Niekoniecznie należy rozumieć to dosłownie. Później poszedł do niewoli. Nas będą interesować dwóch: Szealtiel i Pedajasz. Inne wyjaśnienie to małżeństwo lewirackie. Zerubbabel i Jeszua rozpoczęli odbudowę. Okoliczne narody czyli Samarytanie chcieli się przyłączyć. Odpowiedź znajdujemy w Ezdrasza 4:3, gdzie czytamy: "Lecz Zerubbabel, Jeszua i pozostali naczelnicy rodów z Izraela odpowiedzieli im: Nie godzi się, abyście wy razem z nami budowali świątynię Bogu naszemu, gdyż my sami budować będziemy dla Pana, Boga Izraela, jak nam nakazał Cyrus, król perski". Samarytanie postanowili temu przeszkodzić. Najpierw próbowali zniechęcić i zastraszyć ludzi. Później gdy królem Persji został Artakserkses napisali do niego skargę na Żydów. Do czego to doprowadziło?Minęło prawdopodobnie kilka miesięcy i przyszła odpowiedź nakazująca wstrzymanie budowy. Panował on po tych dwóch władcach, którzy panowali zaledwie kilka miesięcy. Prawdopodobnie to właśnie Dariusz pozbawił drugiego z nich władzy. Byli to Aggeusz i Zachariasz. Zorobabel to oczywiście Zerubbabel, a Jozue to oczywiście Jeszua. To oni mieli podjąć decyzję i oni otrzymaliby karę za złamanie zakazu odbudowy. Aggeusz użył takich słów: “Lecz teraz, bądź mężny, Zorobabelu! - mówi Pan. - Bądź mężny, arcykapłanie Jozue, synu Jehosadaka! Hear Oklahoma Baptist University business professor Daryl Green talk about how OBU students get hands-on business experience through micro-internships.
Coach Josh Davis brings over 10 years of coaching experience at the collegiate level to Murray State College. Coach Davis previously was the associate head coach at Oklahoma Baptist University in Shawnee, Oklahoma. In his four years at OBU, Davis recruited and coached 11 All-GAC team selections, won one regular season GAC championship, and made two NCAA Division II Tournament berths. Before Oklahoma Baptist University, Davis was the director of basketball operations at NCAA Division 1 Mercer University for one season. Before his stop at Mercer University, Davis spent 5 years as an assistant coach at NCAA Division II Limestone University in Gaffney, South Carolina. During his time at Limestone University, Davis helped guide the teams to two conference regular season titles, two Conference Carolinas Tournament championships, and three NCAA Tournament berths. While at Limestone, Davis signed five NCAA Division 1 transfers, five All-Conference players, and two All-Tournament honorees. Before his time at Limestone University, Davis served as the graduate assistant at Liberty University. Davis played two years at Eastern Wyoming College at the NJCAA level, earning Academic All-America honors in 2007. From there, he went to LeTourneau University where he earned honorable mention All-Conference accolades and was a two-time Academic All-Conference honoree. Davis holds a master's degree in human services from Liberty in 2011 and is a 2009 graduate of LeTourneau University, where he earned a bachelor's degree in interdisciplinary studies. Davis and his wife, Kimberly, have one daughter, Audrey.
LaShane Hill is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, and Director of OBU's Kemp Marriage Family Therapy Program and a member of a group practice providing care through her private practice. She has spent 25 years in ministry and has devoted her life to helping others work through their trauma. Y'all, I literally cried through half of this episode. LaShane has had to work through her own personal trauma. As a child, she was raised in a home with enormous violence and witnessed a horrible fight between her parents. Trigger warning, this episode does contain talk of domestic abuse. After her parents' divorce and moving away from her father, she struggled with significant depression. However, she had a praying grandmother. Dealing with all of life's traumas caused LaShane to have bouts of depression and suicidal ideations. We do talk about this as well, and how as she got closer to Jesus and deeper in her faith, it started to worsen. She did not understand at the time that this was a spiritual attack. You will hear a major turning point from an ultimatum that became truly life-altering. This is one not to miss!

Zwłaszcza bezwarunkowa akceptacja wydaje się niezbędnym i pięknym darem, jaki możemy dać my dorośli młodym ludziom, przekraczającym próg szkoły. Napisz: jszulski@gmail.com (oficjalna komunikacja dotycząca szkoły ruszy w czerwcu) Czy ktoś z Was nie zna jeszcze Jarka i Marcina? Po pierwsze polecam słuchać i czytać obu Panów. Szczególnie polecam książki Jarka oraz wystąpienie Marcina na TEDx Life after a mistake. Muzyka: Jam Morgan Jazz Cafe

This conversation will encourage you to trust and obey God! Ann listened to what God told her to do. She felt called to missions at an early age and didn't even question it! She met her husband at OBU and married him. God called both of them in a miraculous moment, and they took the leap into missions in SE Asia. They have lived overseas for 20 years now. They have raised their four children there, and they deeply love the people there. At first, they experienced intense culture shock and loneliness. They learned to trust the Lord with every step in SE Asia. You are going to love their story of faith and obedience at every turn. When it comes to grabbing hold of treasures right in front of you versus elsewhere, it's hard not to think of Obu in the movie, “Aladdin.” He was clearly told what to get and what things he shouldn't touch, but the temptation of treasures within his grasp was just too much. Is this how it is for you today with the treasures that are right there for-the-taking? Today, Pastor Johnny will help you see that there's more treasure to be found, but it's not in the temporary pleasures and riches of this world.

As a new school year rapidly approaches, many colleges and universities across the country have already announced plans for holding classes online this fall due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. However, Ouachita Baptist University in Arkadelphia remains committed to having an on-campus experience for all students. “I have confidence in people at Ouachita and our process, and we're moving in that direction until there's reason that we can't,” said OBU President Dr. Ben Sells. “So much of how this is going to work will come down to students, faculty and staff being responsible, and we're challenging people to rise to the occasion.” Dr. Sells shared more with host Zach Parker on the latest episode of The Ghidotti Podcast, including why the on-campus experience is so important at OBU, the course of action should a student test positive for COVID-19 and the ongoing discussion of how to preserve one of the school's most sacred fall traditions, Tiger Tunes.

Kevin and I discuss which golf courses to put on your bucket list, leadership lessons we can take away from Nick Saban, and how to become an effective listener. Introduction/Bio: Hey everyone and welcome to the All-Star Leader Podcast, where together we learn about leadership from the best and brightest, and keep it fun by connecting it to our passion for sports! Today we are joined by Kevin Thompson, a pastor who also writes on the topics of leadership, marriage and parenting. He is also a scratch golfer, having competed in college at Oklahoma Baptist University. Kevin has a new book about marriage that will hit the shelves May 2nd titled Friends, Partners and Lovers. This is Kevin Thompson. Hey Kevin thanks for coming on the show! Interview: Let's talk some golf first. How did you get introduced to the game, and when did you start to figure out you could actually play well enough to make a college team? Family vacation as a kid with another family; the dads/sons played and he was hooked Really liked basketball/baseball better, but in high school started focusing more on golf Didn't ever consider playing in college After deciding to attend Oklahoma Baptist (which didn't offer golf), schools started offering him scholarships But he decided to stick with OBU, who then added back the program (Talking OBU hoops as well with coach Bob Hoffman) What has the game of golf taught you about life? Golf and tennis are unique because you can play them your entire life Golf is about relationships; plays every Friday with college kids, then goes into the clubhouse and eats lunch with guys in their 80s Also great to teach the game by playing alongside (as opposed to coaching baseball, etc. with a clear coach/player role) Dealing with adversity Favorite course you've ever played? Southern Hills (Tulsa, OK; host of several major championships) The Alotian (Roland, AR; mimics Augusta National) Pebble Beach Plantation Course at Kapalua (Maui, HI) Tell us a bit about the nature of your work and how you came upon it. Loves to write, but had gotten away from it Started a blog to get into the habit of writing Also wanted to start writing books, and began with the book U-Turn Likes the idea of legacy through books, so that kids/grandkids can learn from him after he is gone, in addition to the other lives you get to impact Your write quite a bit about leadership, which is truly the core of what this show is about. In fact you wrote recently about the one habit (binary listening) that is killing our leadership. Can you tell us about that? Gets to be around lots of leaders as a pastor, so he gets to observe leadership all the time Listening is under-thought of; we are listening before we are born, and hearing is the last sense to go But we're really never trained to listen We tend to listen in a binary way: we either agree/disagree, we like it or we don't. As soon as we make that judgment, everything else we hear is filtered through that lens Example: when people are provided a statement from a politician, they will say they like it or not based upon whether the identity of the politician (or party). If we will truly listen to what is being said and look for areas Steven Sample from USC authored The Contrarian's Guide to Leadership; in it he encourages people to think grey, and to hold off for as long as possible to form an opinion, because after that everything you hear will be filtered through that opinion (Daniel with example from how health care is presented in surveys: if referred to as Obamacare, the numbers are one way and if the Affordable Care Act, the numbers change) You also wrote about Nick Saban's five leadership lessons, and I'd like to go through those with you and have you explain them to us: Make routine decisions habitual so they don't require mental energy. Our mental resources are not unlimited, and every decision we make takes energy. He has the same breakfast/lunch every day, because he wants to save the time/energy from those decisions. Automate and make a habit of everything you can, especially on decisions that don't matter Focus on the process over the outcome (John Wooden emphasized this as well) Focusing on the outcome can happen in all areas of life Arkanasas QB Tyler Wilson example; didn't necessarily make a bad decision to return for senior year, but didn't get the outcome he wanted Sometimes you didn't do the process right, but you just got lucky; so focusing on the outcome can mislead you Focusing on the outcome can lead to jumping from process to process to process (Daniel follow up on how this impacts strategic planning, goal setting, etc.) Not wrong to think about the outcome or the goals Just don't assume you did the process right/wrong based on the outcome; give it more thought than that We can learn from leaders, but must fit our personality and values You wrote an interesting piece about how to place value on a championship, which I would suggest could be broadened to include any kind of professional or personal success. Let's talk first about the things that are worth it which come from a championship: hard work, sacrifice of other dreams and the struggle We don't all get those moments where there is a clear winner; we don't all have scoreboards to give us that feedback and provide moments of celebration Kirby Puckett lockerroom story after winning the World Series; he was crying and said it was because all the sacrifice was for this trophy Now for the things that aren't worth it: the ending of a marriage, missing your kids grow up and your soul. He tells his church staff that he hopes they are not quite as effective as they could be, because they all have healthy lives, relationships, etc. Kevin interviewed Gus Malzahn (Auburn football head coach) and he talked about how you need rings to remember the wins, but the losses stick with you forever (Daniel talks about how healthy people will in the long run make the organization more successful than if the people were giving all of themselves at the expense of outside health) Before we go tell us a bit about your new book Friends, Partners and Lovers, and how those three roles are key to a healthy marriage. Amazon link for pre-orders; available May 2, 2017 What is it a spouse is supposed to do? It's not always intuitive or clear. The book attempts to answer that question by focusing on these three roles KevinAThompson.com @KevinAThompson on Twitter KevinThompsonAR on Facebook Thank Yous/Acknowledgements: Antioch Live/Clear Day Media Group – music More here.
