DENVER, CO — My guest today is Joe Buckner. Fighter, father and idea giant. I was introduced to Joe through a great mutual friend, Elliott Clark, while searching for speakers for EE's last retreat of 2021 in the Mile High City. Elliott told me I had to get Joe to speak. In fact, he said: "if you want to know why, hang up the phone right now and watch this Lululemon video on Joe." After watching it, I didn't need any more convincing. Later, when I called Joe, he said: "What you gotta understand is the lululemon video was based on my life in the early 2000s. Yes, that is part of my story. But it's now 2021. There's been a lot of developments since then." I responded, "Great. I want you to use your time with us to share the part of your story that is still untold." In this episode, we unpack the origin story of Joe Buckner, what happened in his life after prison, why he believes fighting fixes everything, why we need to remind each other how to fight, teach each other how to fail in public and the difference between being influential versus an influencer. — Full Transcription: https://everydayentrepreneur.co/magazine/issues/3/rare-air/ lululemon Film: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ai0Gf0_2TC0

This week I'm sitting down with Joe Buckner, Founder of Beautifully Savage, a boutique boxing studio in Fort Collins, CO. This is part 2 of a 4-part series highlighting local Fort Collins entrepreneurs doing great things in business and the community. Joe's story is about overcoming the adversity you create when you make bad choices in life. Joe was your prototypical multi-sport athlete in Fort Collins who took his talents on the football field to the collegiate level. However, when the sports career ended, life took an unfortunate turn for Joe. After a series of poor decisions, he was sent to prison, a broken man with broken dreams. After his release from prison, the adversity did not end as he found himself homeless fighting for a new purpose in life. Today, Joe is a new man with powerful ambition. He's running an extremely successful boxing studio and helping his clients unleash their inner fighter to attain the life they have always dreamed of. Joe believes "fighting solves everything". His newest venture? A mobile shoe store called Good Trouble. He's an amazing father, an inspiring motivational speaker and making a huge impact on the Fort Collins community. You'll quickly fall in love with Joe's ability to share the raw truth. Here we go! We are so happy to welcome Joe Buckner to the OneWorldYourStory Podcast. Joe is the founder and visionary behind Beautifully Savage, a boutique boxing studio in Fort Collins, CO. Joe spent his youth as an athlete and went on to play college football, but through a series of unfortunate events, life took an unexpected turn for Buckner and led to a season of homelessness. He overcame this challenge, became a businessman and entrepreneur and now is on a mission to teach others how to fight their own internal battles through self-reflection, dedication and persistence, both at the boxing gym, as well as in his motivational speaking career. If you enjoyed this conversation, don't forget to check our our YouTube channel, follow us on instagram @OneWorldYourStory, and make sure to subscribe on iTunes and Spotify.
Today we’re speaking with Joe Buckner, the Owner of Beautifully Savage Boxing in Fort Collins Colorado, a Father, Speaker, Brand Ambassador, and an OG Happy Human, based in Denver Colorado. How does one manifest success? When is it the right time to take a chance on yourself? What is the point of engaging in conversation - especially when the other participant holds diametrically opposed views? This episode traces the rise of Joe Buckner as he follows his dreams. But while his inspirational ideas are proven in his own boxing gym, Joe’s message is too big to be contained within any walls. And in a time of great polarization, Joe shows us the path to greater understanding.
“You will never be entirely comfortable. This is the truth behind the champion – he is always fighting something. To do otherwise is to settle.” Julien Smith How do you want your life to look? If you believe in something or really want something, you tend to fight for it, right? Unfortunately, a lot of us never fully get clear on our vision so we wander aimlessly, looking for a battle to fight. Everything we do can either bring us closer or take us further away from our goals and the life we want to live. Ironically, it's the small choices we make that tend to have the biggest impact. When was the last time you checked in on your trajectory? Do you know where you're going or are you just coasting along? These are the questions we should face and answer before we can truly know where we're going. Get clear on the vision. Focus on the vision. Fight for the vision. My guest today, Joe Buckner is the founder of Beautifully Savage Boxing Studio, Coach, Speaker, and Community Leader. He knows exactly what he's after. Joe believes we need to fight for the life we want and show up as our best selves every day in order to do so. It's no surprise he was able to transform his life and go from being a homeless ex-con to becoming a 6-figure earner and successful entrepreneur. His ambition and energy are sure to infect and "inspire you to aspire to be better." (His words!) Hop into today's episode and join us as we discuss overcoming challenges, the importance of habit, knowing your worth, and staying humble. We cover a lot in this conversation. Joe Buckner has been on my radar since I started this Podcast and it's because he has an incredibly inspiring story to tell. I first met Joe as part of the Fit Dad Nation community in 2014 when he was going through a difficult relationship breakup and we sort of lost touch over the next few years. But I started seeing his name pop up over and over again in my feeds and after doing a little searching, I saw that he was doing some amazing work on himself and in the service of others. Joe had a rough upbringing and although he was an exceptional athlete in high school, he turned to a life of crime that ultimately landed him in federal prison. He shares the heartbreaking conversation he had with his young daughter before he left for jail and how he made a promise to himself that when he got out, he'd do everything he could to become a better man. He also talks about the breakup that led to him becoming homeless for 10 months and how he chose to hustle his way into a better life. He literally worked his way from living on the streets to earning upwards of $50k per month and he credits his work ethic and gratitude for the opportunities he had. Today, Joe is a successful entrepreneur, coach, TEDx speaker, and owner of the boxing studio, Beautifully Savage in Fort Collins, Colorado. You can't help but like Joe, and during our conversation he says "everything I've ever lost has claw marks on it" and “everything worth having in this life you’re going to have to fight for. Life is going to test you and fighters know this. They know they will get hit and how you respond is what matters.” When Joe say that fighting solves everything, he is talking about fighting for what you believe and what you want and is exactly what he has done for years in order to become the man he is today. There was also a very powerful short film created about his story called Beautifully Savage and you can watch it here: https://vimeo.com/315719826 You can also find Joe on social media @MrJoeBucker.

I am truly honored to have had the chance to speak with Joe Buckner, owner of Beautifully Savage Boxing located in Fort Collins, Colorado. This man is one of the most admirable, genuine, intelligent and loyal people I have ever met. Joe opens up today about his experience growing up in poverty which led him to make some decisions as a young adult that ultimately ended up sending him to jail and away from his kids and family. Joe made a pact to himself when he was inside that he would never end up back in once he was out. Working two jobs, walking over 6 miles a day and showing up as the best version of himself led him to not just getting back on his feet, but to creating a hugely successful business and becoming a person that others look up to and aspire to be like. This podcast was created to show you that everyone has a story, and Joe is the perfect example of this!
Joe Buckner is the founder of Beautifully Savage, a boxing gym in Ft. Collins, CO. He is also a Lululemon ambassador, Father, Son, Brother, and Friend. Joe has a powerful story that you will thoroughly enjoy listening to on this episode of the 127 Fit Podcast. Joe has spent time incarcerated for selling drugs. He was a dope dealer, but now is a hope dealer. Joe's passion is to help as many people as possible through the sharing of his story, along with his love for boxing. My conversation with Joe is raw, real, and to the point. Joe opens up about some personal battles he is fighting currently. We also discuss his experience behind bars, the importance of education, legacy, how fighting solves everything, and of course, much more! Enjoy!
