Welcome to PGX Raw & Real PGX Raw & Real is simple. I sit with people who've lived through something and/or made it big, and I try to understand what it did to them.Sometimes it gets deep, sometimes it gets weird, sometimes we end up laughing at stories that should've gone very differently just like how real conversations go.This isn't meant to be inspiration or a template for life (for that, you can check out PGX Ideas). This space is different. Send Jay comments via textWhen your children launch or your career ends, a strange silence can set in—and with it, the big question: What's Next? In this inspiring episode, Jack Calhoun, founder of Encore Career Lab, shares a hopeful, practical path from drifting to purposeful direction. He discusses how many of us face an identity crunch when titles no longer define us—and how to use agency, values, and curiosity to craft a second act that truly fits.Jack unpacks the paradox of choice—why having too many options can stall momentum—and offers a straightforward antidote: start with your why and non-negotiables, identify your caring audience, and run small, low-risk experiments. He emphasizes that purpose often follows action, not the other way around, and shows how both career-related and unrelated paths can thrive if your heart is in it.This conversation challenges outdated retirement scripts, reframing work as a fulfilling, energizing part of life's ongoing journey. Expect honest talk about fear, ego, and indecision, along with tactical advice on surfacing your “wisdom fingerprint,” setting boundaries, and testing new ideas without risking everything.  Key takeaways:  The rise of entrepreneurship among ages 55-64Identity enmeshment with career and parentingFinding purpose through purposeful actionDefining your core values and non-negotiables firstJack Calhoun BioJack J. Have you ever felt that nagging urge to grow and transform without knowing exactly where you're headed?  That uncomfortable space between knowing you need change and not having a clear destination can feel like being lost at sea – eager to move but unsure which direction leads to land.  Drawing from my coaching experience and personal journey, this episode unveils a powerful alternative to traditional goal-setting that works brilliantly during times of transition and uncertainty. Rather than forcing yourself to define an end destination you genuinely can't envision, I share how creating "pacts" – short-term, focused commitments to specific actions – can provide structure, learning, and forward momentum.  You'll discover how one CEO I'm working with reclaimed control of his days through a simple 5-minute morning practice, and how a senior professional navigating career transition used targeted exploration to uncover her path forward. I outline the 4 essential elements that make pacts effective. This approach transforms vague aspirations like "get better at ..." into concrete actions that generate real insights.  Whether you're reimagining your career, pivoting your business, or simply feeling called toward something new without knowing what, this episode offers a practical framework for progress.  By embracing experimentation and committing to process over predetermined outcomes, you'll learn how to navigate uncertainty with confidence, curiosity, and purpose. "The Way, The Truth, and The Life" – Power and Promise In this message, Pastor Matt explores Jesus' declaration in John 14:6: "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." Set during Jesus' final moments with His disciples before His crucifixion, this sermon reveals how Jesus used Jewish wedding customs to illustrate His relationship with believers. Just as a Jewish bridegroom would prepare a place for his bride and return for her, Jesus promises to prepare heavenly dwellings for His followers and come back for them. Key Insights: * Jesus doesn't just show us a path—He IS the destination * Christianity isn't about religious performance but about "knowing, growing, and walking closer with Jesus, our eternal Savior" * From our first breath of faith to our final earthly moment, our relationship with Christ should be growing more intimate * Jesus patiently addresses His disciples' confusion and questions, showing us how He meets us in our uncertainty Key Scripture: John 14 (https://www.bible.com/bible/111/JHN.14.NIV) This message concludes with an invitation for believers who haven't yet been baptized to take this first step of obedience in their Christian walk. As Jesus tells His troubled disciples: "Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. My Father's house has many rooms... I am going there to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am." Whether you're new to faith or have been following Jesus for years, this message will deepen your understanding of what it truly means to follow Christ as the Way, the Truth, and the Life. Self-Leadership and Responsibility: Taking 100% responsibility for one's life and decisions is crucial. Individuals often fall into a victim mindset, blaming others for their circumstances instead of recognizing their own power to change. Awareness of Thoughts: Becoming aware of "should" statements and self-judgment is the first step toward personal growth. By questioning these thoughts without judgment, individuals can begin to understand their true desires and motivations. BEST MOMENTS "Being a woman in midlife means I know of a fair few women in midlife... there's a kind of sense of more sense of identity that comes up." "A lot of it is very quite simply, it starts off with they say, I feel like I've lost my confidence." "When you first start to notice those thoughts, you're going to be alarmed by the frequency with which they come up." "Stop trying to fix yourself and start living. Just start living."
