Swatting is all the rage these days. If you haven't heard of it, it's basically tricking the cops into maybe shooting someone. Fun, right? If that sounds a little intense to you, why not try a cruise instead? It takes something like seven years to sail the seas out to Hawaii, so you'll have plenty of time to relax. Plus the SWAT teams can't reach you in international waters. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices

While Smirnoff critiques the story's depiction of bullying and societal discrimination, Brill and Bruner highlight the darker themes that often go unnoticed in this beloved holiday classic. Apio, Schwem, and Dryden emphasize the need for more positive messages about acceptance and kindness, reflecting on the broader societal issues of racism and exclusion. Kermet Apio's sets often delve into the absurdities of parenting, humorously recounting moments like threatening to "fart on [his daughter's] neck" during trivial arguments, ultimately finding joy and laughter amidst the chaos of raising a preteen. Meanwhile, Cathy Ladman draws from her vast experience to craft efficient and poignant stories, whether she's reminiscing about childhood incidents or sharing humorous tales from her extensive travels, including a memorable immigration mishap in Canada. Together, Apio and Ladman highlight the power of personal anecdotes and the importance of humor in navigating life's everyday challenges.(00:00:21) Family Dynamics and Marriage Comedy Sets(00:02:03) "Witty Reflections on Long-Term Relationships"(00:13:23) "Comedic Reflections on Parenting Preteen Daughters"(00:13:53) "The Absurdity of Parenting a Preteen"(00:18:19) Border Crossing Humor in Winnipeg, CanadaSupport the showStandup Comedy Podcast Network.co www.StandupComedyPodcastNetwork.comFree APP on all Apple & Android phones....check it out, podcast, jokes, blogs, and More! For short-form standup comedy sets, listen to: "Comedy Appeteasers" , available on all platforms.New YouTube site: https://www.youtube.com/@standupcomedyyourhostandmc/videosVideos of comics live on stage from back in the day. Please Write a Review: in-depth walk-through for leaving a review.Interested in Standup Comedy? Kermet Apio is a comedian and a musician specializing in traditional Hawaiian music. His specials on Dry Bar Comedy have garnered millions of views. He's based in Seattle and when I started comedy there Kermet was a big mentor to me and still is. He sets a model example of how to be both on and off stage. I've known Kermet for over a decade now and I still have not met a single person who has a bad thing to say about the guy and I doubt I ever will, that's the kind of guy he is. He also has the best Mitch Hedberg story I've ever heard.

For as long as they can remember, Saint and Jim have been enamored with stand-up comedy. Something about a fearless funny person standing in front of a brick wall — just them and a microphone, trying to make us all laugh — seems funny in and of itself. But when some humormonger is truly at the top of their craft, stand-up takes on the undeniable patina of art. On today's episode, your intrepid co-hosts chat with one such comic, the funny-for-a-living Kermet Apio. In doing so, a multitude of subjects are covered: the writing process, what touring is REALLY like, and how "cancel culture" has affected comedy among them (as a bonus, get ready for a crash course on Hawai'ian slack-key guitar!).
