Richard also shares a story about Kam Chancellor getting injured the day before the Seattle Seahawks played Super Bowl XLIX against Tom Brady and the New England Patriots. #volume #herdSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Super Bowl XLIX. Seattle vs. New England. The Seahawks are on the one yard line with the chance to win back to back Lombardis and the game in their hands. You know whose hands the ball should've been in?! Marshawn Lynch. Instead, Russell Wilson threw the ball into the arms of Patriots' cornerback Malcolm Butler. The rest, as they say, is history. But what if Russ handed off to Beastmode for the game winning touchdown? How does a Seahawks Super Bowl win alter the Brady/Belichick legacy? Does Pete Carroll become the greatest coach of all time? And does Marshawn Lynch become a fashion mogul and turn Skittles into a top-selling health food?! Welcome to episode 129 of the What are We Doing podcast! In this week's episode, hosts Levi and Los break down Super Bowl LVIII where the Kansas City Chiefs defeated the San Francisco 49ers 25-22 in overtime. The Chiefs came into the game as underdogs but were able to overcome a 10-point deficit to become the first back-to-back Super Bowl champions in two decades. The game was a rematch of Super Bowl LIV in 2020 when the Chiefs beat the Niners 31-20. It was an exciting back-and-forth game that went down to the wire. The Chiefs struck first with a field goal at the end of the second quarter. In the third quarter, the Niners responded with a touchdown thanks to a trick play where wide receiver Jauan Jennings threw to running back Christian McCaffrey for a 21-yard score. The Chiefs battled back at the end of the third with their own touchdown pass from Patrick Mahomes to Marquez Valdes-Scantling. The fourth quarter saw both teams trade field goals and touchdowns. With under two minutes left, Niners kicker Jake Moody hit a 53-yarder to put San Francisco up 19-16. But Mahomes led an impressive last-minute drive, setting up a game-tying field goal with 3 seconds left to force overtime. In OT, the Niners struck first with a field goal. But Mahomes worked his magic again, driving KC down the field and hitting Mecole Hardman for the game-winning 1-yard TD pass with just 13 seconds left. Mahomes cemented his legacy as a clutch performer, leading another comeback win. It was only the second Super Bowl ever to go to overtime after Super Bowl LI in 2017. Chiefs coach Andy Reid stayed perfect against 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan, moving to 4-0. And the Niners drought without a Super Bowl win extends to 30 years now. The Chiefs defense came up big all game, containing the Niners attack. And the KC offense persevered despite turnovers and miscues. Mahomes battled through an uncharacteristic interception. The running backs on both teams struggled to hold onto the ball. But in the end, Mahomes and the Chiefs made just enough plays to get another Lombardi Trophy. In the episode, Levi and Los discuss the keys to the Chiefs win, including the late defensive stops and Mahomes' resolve. They talk about the trick plays, turnovers, and other big moments that swung the game. They analyze the coaches' decisions and the adjustments both teams made. They also dive into the halftime show featuring Usher with guest appearances from others like Alicia Keys. Usher ran through his hits from across his decades-long career. From "Caught Up" to "Yeah" with Lil Jon, it was a high-energy performance filled with costume changes and choreography. Levi and Los debate where this Super Bowl ranks among the best ever. Does it match up to classics like Super Bowl XLIX and LI? Are the Chiefs now an NFL dynasty after winning 3 Lombardis in 5 years? Where does Mahomes rank among the all-time great QBs after adding a second Super Bowl MVP? It's an action-packed episode breaking down all the big storylines from Super Bowl LVIII! Whether you watched the game or missed it, this is the perfect podcast to catch you up on everything that went down as the Chiefs emerged victorious in another Super Bowl classic. ********** Disclaimer: We at the What are We Doing podcast want to make it clear that the views and opinions expressed in this video belong solely to the speakers or authors and do not represent the views and opinions held by YouTube, its partners, or its owners. Tara Lipinski, the internationally acclaimed figure skater who won over the world's hearts when she earned the gold medal at the 1998 Nagano Olympics - earning her the distinction as the youngest individual gold medalist ever in Winter Games history - has applied the same grace, finesse and assiduous character as a role model to empower a whole generation of young girls to achieve any goal they set their minds to. Tara was also recognized as the youngest ever World Figure Skating Champion and United States Champion. In the time since her Olympic triumph, Lipinski has taken the same championship-style approach to her roles as a TV sports commentator for NBC, NBC Sports and Universal Sports, an actress, a philanthropist and more. In following her love for performance as a popular professional ice skater into these new high-profile jobs, it is clear Lipinski was born to be a performer both on the ice and on the screen.Today, Tara is NBC's prime time figure skating TV Analyst, covering events like the World Figure Skating Championships, the Grand Prix of Figure Skating Series, the U.S. Figure Skating National Championships and the 2018 Olympic Games in Pyeongchang, South Korea. After her huge success at the 2014 Winter Games in Sochi, Russia, with NBC Sports, she was promoted to the NBC prime time team for the 2018 Olympic Games in South Korea. Aside from figure skating, NBC has enlisted Tara for its live event coverage of the Kentucky Derby, Super Bowl XLIX and 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. Previous to her role at NBC, Tara attended Olympic Games where she worked with many of the world's top media outlets and partnered with sponsors, further burnishing her global stature as an iconic Olympian of accomplishment and inspiration. The strength of character, determination, expertise and Tara's infectious joie de vivre that has become her enduring brand can be seen in the golden moments of her winning Olympic performance, yet were instilled at an early age. It all began when as a three-year-old in Sewell, New Jersey, she started roller skating, and went on at age nine to win the primary girls freestyle title at United States Roller Skating Championships. At 13 years old, Lipinski went on to become the first female skater to land a triple loop/triple loop jump combination - a signature element of her performances. On reaching the amateur pinnacle of her sport with her Olympic achievements, Tara turned professional and proved her public appeal has a strong audience draw on such events as Stars on Ice, Champions on Ice and Ice Wars. She co-headlined with Scott Hamilton and Kristi Yamaguchi on the Stars on Ice tour and starred in the Pro Team competition Ice Wars that aired on CBS prime time.A deal with CBS Television resulted in her own primetime special, Tara Lipinski: From This Moment On, and led to dozens of cameo TV appearances and acting roles on such primetime series as Kidding, Sabrina, the Teenage Witch, Malcolm in the Middle, Veronica's Closet, 7th Heaven, and The Young and the Restless, among others.Tara also authored two bestselling books entitled Triumph on Ice and Totally Tara.Lipinski currently divides her time between Los Angeles and New York as well as the house she helped design on the South Carolina coast when she has time to get away from her busy career.ABOUT HER NEW SHOW WEDDING TALK, PREMIERING OCTOBER 13th CHICKEN SOUP FOR THE SOUL ENTERTAINMENT PUTS A RING ON THE ORIGINAL SERIES WEDDING TALK PREMIERING OCTOBER 13thDive into all things weddings with hosts Olympic gold medalist and commentator Tara Lipinski, event planner Jose Rolen and wedding designer Jove MeyerPremieres exclusively on the Chicken Soup for the Soul and Crackle free streaming appsCrackle Plus, a Chicken Soup for the Soul Entertainment (Nasdaq: CSSE) company and one of the largest operators of advertising-supported video on demand (AVOD) streaming services, today announced the original series, Wedding Talk, starring hosts Tara Lipinski, Jose Rolon and Jove Meyer will debut October 13. As part of our Best of Trending in Ed Series, we return to episode 202 of Trending in Ed from the Summer of 2019 where Mike Palmer interviews Annie Duke about her book, Thinking in Bets: Making Smarter Decisions When We Don't Have All The Facts. We're “all-in” this week, as we welcome Annie Duke, author of Thinking In Bets and retired poker pro, to the show. Annie begins by sharing the long, winding path she took to become an author and expert in decision science. From her time as a PhD student in cognitive science to her introduction to poker as a novice to her inspiration to write her books, Annie provides great detail on all of the influences throughout her life that have come together to write Thinking In Bets. We also dive into the non-profit, The Alliance for Decision Education, that Annie co-founded in 2012 and discuss how she hopes to push decision education at scale to millions of students in K12. How do we get decision-making wrong? How often do we worry about the result, see Pete Carroll's play-calling in Super Bowl XLIX, rather than the process that led to the decision? If we were to teach students the basics of good decision-making, how might this improve their ability to decide quickly and adapt to a variety of environments and novel contexts critical to learning and the future of work? We discuss all that and more. So pull up a seat, ante up, and join us for an engaging conversation from back in the simpler days of 2019! Subscribe to Trending in Ed wherever you get your podcasts. Visit us at TrendinginEd.com for more sharp takes on the future of learning.
