In this summer we covered the case of Shannon Lee Collins, the 48-year-old veteran who vanished without a trace from his family home in Pottsville Arkansas.  I am thrilled to report that we have a major update in this case: federal fraud charges have been filed against Shannon's wife Treasa and her daughter, Brittany. And now that the fraud has been uncovered could murder charges come next? See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

On March 11, 2021, Shannon Lee Collins, a 48-year-old veteran, came back from a work trip to his home in Pottsville, Arkansas. Then, he seemed to vanish into thin air.  Catherine continues her investigation from last week, focusing on two things: one, what angles are the police investigating, and are they making any progress in finding out what really happened to Shannon? And two, what do you do if you suspect foul play but there is no body or sign of a struggle?  And what will happen to the family who will not let him go and NOT stop asking questions? On March 11, 2021, Shannon Lee Collins, a 48-year-old veteran, came back from a work trip to his home in Pottsville, Arkansas. He was working a part time job delivering packages, which sometimes took him on the road out of state. He had been married to his wife Treasa for more than 20 years, and they raised their family together. They had their son Josh, who was in his early twenties, and Shannon's step daughter Brittany, who was in her early thirties. But Shannon had raised Brittany since she was very young, and been a father figure to her. They were a close family - they attended a local church Russellville First Assembly, and were very active in their church community. And yet, after March 11, 2021, when Shannon Collins walked into his family home in Pottsville that he shared with his wife, son and stepdaughter, he seemed to vanish into thin air. There has been no sign of him since then. How could a veteran disappear? And why did no one report him missing for nine months? “We can find purpose in everything that we do.” - Isaac Lee Collins  From the outside, it may look like Isaac Lee Collins encountered a smooth journey toward success. At 23, fresh out of college, he opened his own chocolate-making store that quickly earned him a half-a-million dollars. However, what people don't always see is the “life story” that got him to where he is today – which is the owner of seven other businesses (plus one non-profit), ranging from handmade chocolates, construction, real-estate investing, health supplements, yoga teaching, frozen yogurt, and now business coaching. In today's episode, Dr. Michelle Robin invites Isaac to share his story – the ups, downs, and even some of the trauma he endured in life that he managed to turn into good for the sake of humanity. He will uncover some secrets that will help others discover their purpose, and also help listeners see the extraordinary things that can come out of ordinary places.  About Today's Guest:  In 2011, Isaac's college football season had just ended and he was about to graduate. He just landed the perfect job with one of the city's largest employers making great money and full benefits. However, he was miserable at the thought of working in corporate America. He knew that if he took this prestigious job, he would get comfortable and never pursue his dream of running his own business one day. Today, him and his wife, Rachel, still own five out of eight businesses. Due to the pandemic, his passion project became the Streamlined Profit Academy, which is his business training and coaching company. His mission is to help entrepreneurs get past the “I'm stuck” phase and to build their streamlined, profitable business so they can maximize their income, impact, time, and freedom.  Mentioned in the Episode:  Yogurtini locations Isaac Lee Collins' website Isaac Lee Collins' LinkedIn Tareq Hadhad's podcast Big Shifts Foundation Kansas City Wellness Consortium

The house and soul legend discusses collecting vinyl and growing up in Chicago's 1970s funk heyday. In this live edition of the Exchange, Resident Advisor's Deputy Editor, Chloe Lula, speaks to Chicago house and soul DJ Sadar Bahar ahead of his DJ set at Dekmantel 2022. Bahar is an avid collector of rare vinyl, possessing one of the world's biggest vinyl collections. The artist has embodied the vinyl-only ethos since growing up in Chicago in the '70s—the heyday of gospel, funk, and jazz soul in the US. He started the party Soul In The Hole with Lee Collins, which embodied and celebrated his passion for what he calls "real" music—music made by "real" musicians playing "real" instruments—and is still actively touring and spreading the spirit of Chicago house at sets around the world. He and Lula discuss kinship among collectors, the origins of Black funk and the instrumentation that brings this singular genre to life. Listen to their conversation in full.

Specter’s ambience-driven, organic touch exudes an infectious groove that is deeply soulful, sensual, earthy, warm and nocturnal with a good measure of sublime disco, acid house, jazzy inflections and pure funk. Specter’s interest in house music piqued in the 80′s, when the wunderkind genre blew up in the city of Chicago. Specter would tape and devour the novel, often raw and eventually legendary mixes from radio stations like WBMX, WCYC, WCRX, WKKC and WGCI. Early influences include DJs like Farley Jackmaster Funk, Edward Get Down Crosby, Mickey Oliver, Bobby Q bobby,Lee Collins, Lil Louis and the inimitable Ron Hardy. Specter started DJaying at the age of 15 playing house, disco and italo . Spinning at basement parties around the city and suburbs. When Chicago’s loft-party and rave scene started to take off in the mid-90s, Specter began incorporating the edgier, minimal heat of Detroit techno into his sound. By 1999 and 2000, Specter had established himself as a respected DJ through his many mix tapes and playing loft parties around the city, He Also co-founded a production label with Damon Lamar aka Baby pop called Tetrode Music. The first EP release from Tetrode dropped in 2000 and became a underground classic. “For All the Music/Mystery”. Following up with the second release “Mediterranean/Defining Moment” in 2002. Tetrode 03 came out two years later in 2004 titled “The Deep Theory Ep”. and The tetrode sessions in 2009.

The direction of his life was changed the first time he saw Theo Parrish play in Chicago. That moment is when he decided a goal in his life would be to turn people on to good music. This passion has seen Solson become a hard-working force in the underground and led him to organize some of the most memorable events in recent years that have featured some of the most talented and discerning DJs. “Disco Juice” featured Zernell and Rahaan, which led to the creation of the “A Love Supreme” loft parties who saw the likes of Sadar Bahar, Sean Sounds, Kon, Jamie 3:26 and Lee Collins. He has organized the “Phuture” parties whose emphasis was House and Techno and had Hakim Murphy, Steven Tang, Chicago Skyway and Traxx as guests and has hosted a “Downbeat vs. Tetrode” collaboration party twice with Specter and Damon Lamar when the Downbeat label DJs visit from Spain. Most recently he founded the “Disco Illusion” Rare Groove/Deep Disco parties with DJs Darryn and Tone B. Nimble. This life-long student and lover of music is very grateful to have rubbed elbows with some of the best in the field and we can only expect great things from him and his sets in years to come.

“My journey into becoming a DJ began in 1981. I was in a dance group called “The Boy scouts” we were at this club in Chicago called The Playground. The resident DJ was Farley Funkin’ Keith, now known as Farley Jack Master Funk. He was one of the hottest DJ’S back in that time. Listening to him spin, the tricks, the blends, and the records he played, grabbed me by the collar. I enjoyed the way the crowd responded to the way Farley was playing, how he held their attention, never letting them go. Month’s later I bought a pair of Technic turntables and a Teledyn mixer. I began my record collecting by purchasing records from stores like Import ECT, Loop records, Second Hand Tunes & Gramma Phone. Just to name a few, songs like “Keep On Dancing,” “Keep Your Body Working,” “Martin Circus” “Klein MBO Theme,” were some of the hottest records out. Now as I began maturing in music Disco and Garage became another one of my passions. From the playground I went to Mendell, Sauers, C.O.D.’s, Bismarck hotel and other parties. At C.O.D’s, there was this DJ by the name of Lil Louis. He was one of the hottest DJ’s in the 80’s of the house scene in Chicago, as well as a very dynamic producer. He really touched me with his tracks and the mixture of disco. There would be five hundred + people at these parties. No one going home until the wee hours of the morning. But it wasn’t until I heard the great late, legendary, Ron Hardy spinning at this club called The Muzic Box, which was located on Lower Wacker Drive. From the time you walked into the Box you were captivated, put in a trance. It was dark, with only the brightness of the flashing strobe lights bouncing off of the walls. The sound system was one of the best in the city. Ron Hardy knew how to grab the crowd. He knew how to work the crowd. He made many edits of certain records, and he was even a record producer. With his style and the system no track or record ever sounded the same. This made me want to really learn the craft. I began trying different things with records until I developed my own style. I have had the pleasure of spinning at clubs such as Retno 5, The Concrete Jungle, Jackson Harbor Bar & Grill, Hi Ricky’s, The Fiz Bar, Slicks, Family Den just to name a few. Some of the past DJ’s who were a major influence on me were: Farley, Steve Hurley, and Ron Hardy, Lil Louis, & Frankie Knuckles. Some of my present influences: Mark Grusane and Mike Cole of Mr. Peabody records: much love, and Baby Funk Roy, Joseph Colbourne ( He’s the real deal!!!! ) also I must not forget Soul in the Hole’s Lee Collins and Sadar Bahar.
