TODAY'S EPISODE: Welcome, dear ones, to today's episode of Daily Radio Bible with your host, Hunter. Hunter, your Bible reading coach, will guide us through the intricacies of Leviticus chapters 18 and 19, Psalm 13, and Acts chapter 19. These passages might present challenges, yet they invite us to engage with curiosity, embracing the mystery of faith. Throughout this episode, Hunter emphasizes Paul's unwavering message of the Kingdom of God in Acts 19. Listen in as we explore how God's agenda might disrupt our own, and how His kingdom brings transformation to lives and communities. As we face the complexities of scripture, we seek wisdom, understanding, and the joy found in the love of Christ. Hunter encourages us to carry on through the Bible, reminding us that the journey of faith is an adventure lived out day by day. So, join us as we reflect, pray, and continue our exploration of God's word. You are loved, dear listener, and we're glad to have you with us today. TODAY'S DEVOTION: Paul's got a message he's preaching in Ephesus. He keeps preaching the same message. Let's not miss it. It's found here in verse eight. Then Paul went to the synagogue and preached boldly for the next three months arguing persuasively about the kingdom of God. What is Paul's message to the world? The kingdom of God is here. The king has arrived, and his kingdom is overturning the kingdoms of this world. The kingdom of God has come, and people's lives are being transformed. People are being liberated from their slavish bondage to other gods. People are being forgiven. Barriers are being broken. Jews and Greeks are coming together. The love of Christ is being known, and lives and communities are being changed because the king has come, and his kingdom is here. God has begun to disrupt and overturn the competing kingdoms of the world. That's what happens when the king arrives and establishes his kingdom. God can't serve someone else's agenda. He has his own agenda, and it differs radically from Artemis or any other god. Demetrius, the silversmith, had it right. This message was derailing the agenda of Artemis. God had his own agenda, and he has an agenda for your life too. It might require some dismantling in your life as well. It might end up derailing your agenda too. But when he begins to invade all the areas of our life, we might find ourselves in some serious turmoil like the people of Ephesus. But God will not be deterred. He is fully committed to himself, to his agenda, and to you, to establishing your life fully in the circle of his love, in the kingdom of our God and Christ. That's where you were created to be. That's where your life is. That's where you'll find joy. His message has not changed. The kingdom of God is here, and the prayer of my heart today is that I will see it, that I'll let his agenda rule my life. That's the prayer that I have for my own soul. That's the prayer that I have for my family, for my wife, and my daughters, and my son. And that's the prayer that I have for you. May it be so. TODAY'S PRAYERS: Lord God Almighty and everlasting father you have brought us in safety to this new day preserve us with your Mighty power that we might not fall into sin or be overcome by adversity. And in all we do, direct us to the fulfilling of your purpose through Jesus Christ Our Lord amen. Oh God you have made of one blood all the peoples of the earth and sent your blessed son to preach peace to those who are far and those who are near. Grant that people everywhere may seek after you, and find you. Bring the nations into your fold, pour out your Spirit on all flesh, and hasten the coming of your kingdom through Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen. And now Lord, make me an instrument of your peace. Where there is hatred let me sow love. Where there is injury, pardon. Where there is doubt, faith. Where there is despair, hope. Where there is darkness, light. And where there is sadness, Joy. Oh Lord grant that I might not seek to be consoled as to console. To be understood as to understand, to be loved as to love. For it is in the giving that we receive, in the pardoning that we are pardoned, it is in the dying that we are born unto eternal life. Amen And now as our Lord has taught us we are bold to pray... Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven, give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our tresspasses as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not unto temptation, but deliver us from evil, for thine is the Kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen. Loving God, we give you thanks for restoring us in your image. And nourishing us with spiritual food, now send us forth as forgiven people, healed and renewed, that we may proclaim your love to the world, and continue in the risen life of Christ. Amen. In this final episode of the season, we are joined by none other than the author of 'Silence and Other Surprising Invitations of Advent' herself, Enuma Okoro!! Enuma joins Charity, Colleen, and Jeff to share the inspirations behind her book, personal insights on faith, the significance of untold stories in the Bible, and the challenges of maintaining faith. Continuing with our Advent story of Zechariah and Elizabeth, they discuss the challenges and blessings of waiting on God's “inconvenient timing.” The four also reflect on God's presence in everyday life and the importance of recognizing divine manifestations in people and situations we least expect. This season, as Advent falls on the heels of a contentious election season here in America and amidst the reality of war and violence around the world, we here at the Transforming Center wanted to approach the Advent podcast season with the awareness that many people are deeply in need of space and hope right now. TC staff member Charity McClure and ministry partners Jeff James and Colleen Powell will be walking listeners through Advent with the intention of broadening and deepening the practice and experience of silence as a way to hold that space. Using Enuma Okoro's book 'Silence and Other Surprising Invitations of Advent, which highlights the story of Elizabeth and Zachariah, for inspiration and wisdom, Charity and Jeff will be joined by guests as they explore themes of lament, barrenness, waiting, dependence on God, community, friendship, and hope. Enuma Okoro is a Nigerian-American author, writer, lecturer, curator, and arts and culture critic. Her globally read column, “The Art of Life,” reflects her broader research and writing interests: how the intersection of art, philosophy, spirituality, ecology and culture can speak to the human condition and interrogate how we live with ourselves and one another, and how we relate to the more-than-human. She has contributed to a number of different publications and is the author of Reluctant Pilgrim and Silence and other Surprising Invitations of Advent. In this episode I share the story of a time when I didn't advocate for my Kisses mare when I absolutely should have. I didn't stand up for her or myself and I had no idea at that time how far and wide the implications of that painful experience would ripple out. A seed was planted in that experience that ended up changing the course of our lives—not just for myself and Kisses, but my entire herd. And while even then I believed that everything happens for a reason, I could have never predicted the strange yet seemingly fated turn of events that helped me forgive myself and heal the harm I'd caused Kisses that day. Today, I reflect on the greatest Christmas movie of all time, It's a Wonderful Life and what it teaches us about hope, healing, and finding meaning in life's challenges. George Bailey's story is all of us—navigating dreams, disappointments, and the tension between personal desires and the needs of others. It's a story of sacrifice, resilience, and ultimately, grace showing up in the most unexpected ways, like misfit second class angels. This is the second part of my Advent series on Hope and Healing, last week we talked about acceptance (please check out that episode). This week focuses on the surprising ways God comes to us, which is the central reflection of Advent – the miracle of the incarnation and the reminder that God shocked us all as a baby in the manger. So, grab a cup of coffee, settle in, and let's reflect together on the gift of Advent, the power of acceptance, and the surprising ways divine providence manifests in our lives. In our journey of faith, we often encounter moments that challenge our understanding of success and spirituality. This conversation delves deep into the heart of what it means to truly encounter God in our daily lives. We're reminded of Moses' transformation, from a man of great achievements to someone who simply desired God's presence above all else. This powerful biblical narrative invites us to reflect on our own priorities. Are we chasing accomplishments and spiritual experiences, or are we seeking a genuine, intimate relationship with God? The discussion challenges us to redefine success not by our achievements, but by our ability to be fully present - with God, our families, and in every moment. It's a call to slow down, to find God in the ordinary, and to value relationships over religious performance. We'll draw parallels between these miraculous rescues and the harrowing journeys of both the disciples and the ancient Israelites, reminding us of the peace and resolution that follows when we invite divine intervention into our struggles. Let these narratives be a source of comfort and inspiration, encouraging you to offer what little you have in faith, knowing it's enough for God to work wonders. To read my blog, find out more about me, or to book a speaking engagement, head to https://betsymarvin.com/For access to past podcasts and transcripts, head tohttps://betsymarvin.com/podcasts/You can follow me on Instagramhttps://www.instagram.com/betsyjmarvin/and Facebookhttps://www.facebook.com/betsy.marvin.98

We delve into the powerful narrative of patient vulnerability and resilience. Our guest, writer Rachel Litchman, shares her deeply personal experience of being hospitalized, highlighting the disconnect between patient needs and systemic responses. We explore the profound moments of empathy that came not from the highest authorities in health care, but from those on the frontlines and in overlooked roles. This conversation uncovers the challenges of authority, compassion, and the shared powerlessness that can spark true human connection in the face of medical crises. Rachel Litchman is a writer. She discusses the KevinMD article, "Top-down hierarchies in health care harm patients and health care workers alike." Our presenting sponsor is DAX Copilot by Microsoft. “People buy from people they know, like and trust. At the start of building a relationship with your buyer the only thing you can shoot for is 'Trust'. Building trust has to be very obvious from the very first contact you make with your buyer or you kill any chance of starting a dialogue.”- Michael deGroot. Sales have been my life for over four decades; I have lived by a code where sales for me means selling from love, care, and respect. In short, it means selling by building trust and earning the client's loyalty. At the core, it is never about me; it's always about the client and how I can support and help. Today, my guest and I will discuss several "big ideas" that will help you develop strong, trust-based relationships with your prospects/customers, enabling you to sell more in the long run by selling less. This week, Jess Ninaber kicked off our Advent series! During this Advent season, we begin by lighting the candle of Hope, remembering that Jesus is the light that breaks through the darkness. In a world full of uncertainty, we are called to fix our eyes on the unchanging character of God, trusting that His promises will never expire. Though we may be in seasons of waiting, we hold onto the hope that one day, all things will be made new. Let us declare and share this hope with others, trusting in Jesus, our Redeemer, and Messiah, as we wait in anticipation for His return. This episode of Connected Leadership Bytes examines the concept of lateral mentoring, a powerful yet often overlooked form of support. Deborah Heiser, PhD, founder of The Mentor Project, introduces the idea that mentoring doesn't always have to be hierarchical. It can be a dynamic exchange of knowledge and experience between peers, even those in different departments or industries. Deborah emphasises the importance of embracing vulnerability and asking for help, even from unexpected sources. She shares real-life examples of how individuals have leveraged lateral mentoring to achieve breakthroughs and launch their careers. Andy and Deborah highlight the benefits of both formal and informal mentoring relationships and how they can complement each other. She also sheds light on the critical role of reverse mentoring, where younger generations mentor older individuals on emerging trends and technologies. Deborah underscores the need for organisations to embrace cross-company and cross-sector mentoring, fostering collaboration and knowledge. The episode concludes with a call to action for listeners to actively seek out mentoring opportunities and recognise that everyone, regardless of their position, can benefit from both giving and receiving mentorship. Key takeaways from the episode: · Lateral mentoring is a powerful form of support that can come from peers, even those in different departments or industries. · Embrace vulnerability and ask for help from unexpected sources. Every connection is useful. · Formalise lateral mentoring relationships to make them more effective and focused. · Don't underestimate the value of reverse mentoring, where younger generations mentor older individuals on emerging trends. · Embrace cross-company and cross-sector mentoring to foster collaboration and knowledge sharing. · Recognise theimportance of both giving and receiving mentorship.
