Many of us have attended wedding ceremonies as guests. We're used to what goes on there. Something extremely important has happened. Jesus is calling us, the Church, to be His Bride! God paid what He thought you were worth to make this happen and He is still sending us love letters, which show His affection and commitment to us. Let's linger at the Lord's table. We won't grow old there! We do need to be prepared though and make ourselves ready. Let Jesus wrap you in His robe of righteousness. The script for the whole Service can be read here.

The weekly message from Community Church Edinburgh. This talk is from Sunday, 24th May 2026. The natural world is filled with examples of life emerging in the most unpromising of circumstances. What if this mirrors how God acts in our broken world? This sermon, on Pentecost Sunday, explores the work of the spirit bringing life in the midst of the difficult, painful, dry seasons of our life, often in quiet ways like a breath, and occasionally in more dramatic ways like wind or fire.
Millennia ago God spoke to a selected few - perhaps, kings, priests and prophets. The coming of the Holy Spirit in Jerusalem at Pentecost was a seismic change. Now God would speak to anyone. How is your connectivity with God? Are you plugged into Him? Let Him equip and empower to work for Him. Ask Him to increase your desire, thirst and love for Jesus. The script for the whole Service can be read here.
Sermon in a sentence: "Grace shows up in places no one expects to look."Application:Where is God asking you to trust Him—even if it feels unlikely, uncomfortable, or risky?
"This is My beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased; listen to Him." Matthew (chapter 17), Mark (chapter 9) and Luke (chapter 9) all describe Jesus going to the top of a mountain with Peter, James and John. They weren't alone for long, as Moses and Elijah appeared and talked with Jesus. Why did this happen to three of Jesus' disciples and why is it still applicable for you to learn about it in the 2020s? Jesus was not just a rabbi and miracle-worker - He was also the Son of God. God spoke from heaven and put a beautiful seal of delight in His Son. Our might and our power are not enough to help us succeed as we follow God on His mission. We need His encompassing love in our lives in order to succeed and to speak a relevant message to others in our lives. As we wait upon the Lord, we know He will give us energy and hope, both for today and the future. The script for the whole Service can be read here.

Most of us were trained to look for God in the big moments — the breakthrough, the open door, the dramatic call. But what if God is most consistently present in the ordinary moments we rush past every day?In this episode, I want to share a 500-year-old practice that has quietly transformed my leadership, my marriage, and my relationship with God. It's called the Examen — and I believe it may be the single most underused tool in the modern pastor's spiritual formation toolkit.I'll take you through the history of this practice, born out of the life of Ignatius of Loyola — a soldier brought low by a cannonball who discovered that God speaks through our interior movements. I'll share the 2-question version you can start today, and the fuller 4-movement practice the Jesuits have done twice a day for five centuries. This isn't theory. I'll be honest with you about the years I spent pushing past the heaviness in my chest — misreading desolation as something to overcome rather than something to hear. What I missed cost me. You don't have to miss it too.The Examen interrupts the cycle of leading from wounds and repeating old patterns. It teaches discernment, not just decision-making. And it begins with just two questions.Reserve your spot at our upcoming Global Leaders Conference.September 30 – October 1, 202614th St. Salvation Army, NYC(Live Spanish Translation available)Register Now: https://ehd.churchcenter.com/registrations/events/3421612Learn more about the EH Global Leader Conference 2026: emotionallyhealthy.org/conference
Two of Jesus' followers were walking towards Emmaus when Jesus joined them, though they were not aware that it was Him. It was Resurrection Day and they simply didn't know the major significance of what was happening. God is calling us not to simply 'stare into the sky' (Acts 1) of where we last saw the Lord, but to work with and for Him on the missions that He has given us all to complete. Let's get our brooms out, even if the task seems difficult. Jesus is real. Let's give an appropriate response to His power and presence in our lives. In this episode of the investment trust show, Dan Coatsworth and Hannah Williford explore the trusts offering generous income to investors, the state of US markets and the changes happening to the renewable infrastructure sector. Plus, AJ Bell's own Eve Maddock-Jones joins for a chat on what you need to know if your trust is winding up. [01:24] Hannah and Eve talk about the latest news in trust windups, and what investors need to be prepared for if theirs is on the chopping block. [10:03] Dan speaks to Felise Agranoff from JP Morgan American Trust about the sentiment surrounding the US in the midst of the US-Iran War. [24:51] Jeremiah Buckley from North American Income Trust joins Hannah for a second US perspective, and talks about why getting dividends from US companies is an underrated approach for investors. [38:11] Ryan Lightfoot-Aminoff from Kepler talks to Dan about finding income in unexpected areas of the market, and why investors are needing to get creative with where they look. [54:19] FGEN's Charlie Wright rounds off the pod speaking about the state of the renewable energy infrastructure sector, where many trusts are rotating away from their dividend-paying roots.
Whilst physically on earth, Jesus didn't leave people in their valley of despair with health or relationship issues. He had compassion, entered their dark valley and then transformed their life. God is still transforming lives today. He comes to guide, confront, heal and encourage us whilst we are in a valley. Perhaps a valley is a good place to be? Reach out to God, knowing that He is with you and then ask Him to transform you that He might be glorified and others might be blessed. Let us get better at trusting God when we or a close friend/relative are in a valley. For the first two+ minutes of this Talk an impromptu valley is constructed using 2x washing airers, 2x music stands, 2x blankets and 6x washing pegs. The script for the whole Service can be read here.
The first part of this recording marks Malachi being dedicated to God. We pray for him and thank God for who he is.In John 4, we hear about how Jesus waited at a well to have a conversation with a woman who He knew was coming. Jesus promised Living Water to well up within her life. Her testimony enabled others to be transformed by Jesus too. Let's allow God to really do something special in our lives and not just be content with a semblance of His love, power and gifts. How authentic is God in your life? Let Him affect your life! The script for the whole Service can be read here.

What an unexpected place to meet the Saviour of the World - up a tree! Yet, that is what happened to a hated man in Jericho. Jesus was coming by and Zacchaeus wanted to see Him, so overcome the obstacles that he had. Today, Jesus is still saying, "I must stay at your house today!" to you. Jesus is close to you. Call out to Him and put your trust and hope in Him. It is certainly worth getting rid of the obstacles. The script for the whole Service can be read here.
Peter, one of the leaders of the early Church, had been put in prison due to his faith in Jesus. His spiritual family prayed to God and He supernaturally released Peter. This story in Acts 12 reminds us that God is much greater than our biggest problems, our biggest mistakes and our biggest dreams. He is the vine and we are the branches. Let's all make God front and centre in our lives. We need Him!The script for the whole Service can be read here.

It's no secret how much dating takes place on the apps today as compared to in real life. But online dating hasn't exactly led to more success in finding the right romantic partnership. Hannah Frishberg, WNYC/Gothamist culture reporter, has reported on places like bookstores, bars, and bagel shops are creating dating events to encourage IRL spaces for people to get to know each other and meet new people. She discusses what she found in her reporting and listeners share their in-person dating success stories and struggles. Photo by Arianna Medina. A local speed dating event.
This episode was inspired by ordinary trip to the gym, but it quickly turned into a spirit trying to visit someone in class. I share a moment when someone asked me if I could feel her grandmother around her at the gym. Normally, I'm completely off and don't sense energy randomly. I also talk about why reading someone else's energy without consent is unethical. I share a story about a mother's energy that lingered around me at the gym for a week. It took me months to realize it was one of my friend's moms. This led to a deeper reflection on how, as adults, we rarely talk about our passed loved ones even when our friends are mediums. The realization came at a Christmas brunch while discussing family traditions, when I discovered two of my friends had lost their moms. The energy I had been feeling at the gym turned out to be one of their moms visiting. The synchronicity was uncanny, especially since we all go to the gym at the same time every day. Tune in for this story about noticing energy, the ethics of delivering mediumship messages, and how the spirits of our passed loved ones can show up in the most unexpected places even in the middle of your workout. Hello to you listening in Pasadena, California! Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is Stories From Women Who Walk with 60 Seconds (and a bit more) for Story Prompt Friday and your host, Diane Wyzga. I've been binge-watching The Big Bang Theory TV series as I do this time each year to humor me through our Pacific Northwest November to May Rain Festival. As you might know a consistent theme is the characters' devotion to comics and superheroes. Why? The characters are highly intelligent, socially awkward nerds who have difficulty navigating society whereas the superheroes possess save-the-day abilities, rare powers, and bravery. Comics can be a safe place to fantasize living idealized versions of themselves as the nerd-turned-hero. But what do the Superheroes have to say about living life as a Superhero? Following are 7 quotes: 1. “When you decide not to be afraid you can find friends in super unexpected places.” — Ms. Marvel 2. “Everybody's story begins “once upon a time,” and it's up to us to cherish the time we're given to ensure we live happily ever after.” — Scarlet Witch 3. “I have no idea where I'm going to be tomorrow but I accept the fact that tomorrow will come and I'm going to rise to meet it.” — Donna Troy 4. “The fate of your planet rests not in the hands of gods. It rests in the hands of mortals.” — Thor 5. “The future is worth it. All the pain. All the tears. The future is worth the fight.” — Martian Manhunter 6. “The door is more than it appears. It separates who you are from who you can be. You do not have to walk through it… You can run.” — Franklin Richards 7. “A hero can be anyone. Even a man doing something as simple as putting a coat around a little boy's shoulders to let him know the world hasn't ended.” — Batman Story Prompt: For a long time your character has felt that she is more than she appears to be but does not believe she has what it takes to show up fully in her power until one day a door appears in a wall and she .... write that story and share it out loud! You're always welcome: "Come for the stories - Stay for the magic!" Speaking of magic, I hope you'll subscribe, share a 5-star rating and nice review on your social media or podcast channel of choice, bring your friends and rellies, and join us! Send us a textIn this episode of Super Familiar with the Wilsons, Amanda and Josh stumble into one of those conversations that starts with a normal errand and quietly escalates into an existential audit. We talk about the unsettling moment you realize time has been moving faster than you thought, the kinds of questions kids ask right before sleep that absolutely should come with a warning label, and what it looks like to show up for people when comfort is no longer guaranteed. There's discussion of aging bodies doing deeply unnecessary things, the difference between “helpful advice” and “internet nonsense,” and the small, oddly specific comforts that start to matter more than they reasonably should. Along the way, listener stories take us into memory lapses, long grudges, and decisions that made sense at the time.As always, this is a Marriage 2.0 conversation: less about having it figured out, more about laughing while you realize you don't.Super Familiar with The Wilsons Find us on instagram at instagram.com/superfamiliarwiththewilsonsand on YoutubeContact us! familiarwilsons@gmail.com A Familiar Wilsons Production

From C.S. Lewis to Luka Dončić: Celebrating Joy in Unexpected Places On this Christmas-season Good Faith episode, host Curtis Chang welcomes back "founding friend" David French to showcase how he can give thanks in all circumstances even amid a depressing news cycle. Through five surprising "gratitudes" (from Dune and Luka Dončić to family healing and C.S. Lewis), the conversation offers a timely guide to cultivating Christian joy, resilience, and hope in anxious times. French shares why his hope isn't rooted in a "five-point plan," but in the character of God and the "light and high beauty" that can break through dark moments—even illustrated by a powerful story of forgiveness after a Michigan church shooting. This week on the Beyond Sunday Podcast, Steve Buttram, Paxton Redd, Josh Hensley, and Michael Shearon kick things off with Thanksgiving laughs, family stories, and a hilarious game of Hallmark or Holy, where they try to determine whether love quotes come from Christmas movies or Scripture. The fun sets the table for a deeper conversation as the Advent season begins with a powerful focus on hope—not the fragile kind rooted in circumstances, but the living hope found in Jesus. From the moment Maggie Doyne and I joined our Zoom call, there was an instant recognition—a connection of the heart. We share a love of children, the Oregon coast, and a deep commitment to living in service. Interviewing her was a powerful reminder of what's possible when one person follows the quiet call of compassion. At just 18 years old, Maggie took what was meant to be a simple gap year—and turned it into her life's mission. Traveling through India and Nepal, she witnessed a young girl lifting two stones together to build a road. In that moment, she literally said, “I was cracked open”.With her life savings of $5,000, Maggie moved to Nepal and co-founded the BlinkNow Foundation with her Nepali partner, Tope Bahadur Malla. Their vision was clear: to provide children with a safe home, medical care, education, and love—so they would grow into adults with a social conscience and the skills to end cycles of poverty and violence.Working hand-in-hand with Tope and a team that's 90% Nepali, they built a children's home for over 100 kids, a school for 350 students, and a women's center and health clinic for the Kopila Valley community. Maggie's work has been honored with the 2015 CNN Hero Award and recognition from the Dalai Lama.In this conversation, Maggie shares how a single decision changed her life forever—the joys and challenges of mothering 100 children, sustaining her mission through loss, and the importance of working alongside the local community. She also opens up about a period of deep grief that reshaped her path and strengthened her purpose.Maggie Doyne is a modern-day Mother Teresa—a lighthouse of hope redefining what family means in our world today. She reminds us that one person, with an open heart and unwavering commitment, can create ripples of change that transform entire communities.Whether you're seeking inspiration to answer your own calling or simply want to witness love in action, this conversation will leave you moved, motivated, and believing in the power of one heart to change the world.

When God asks us to love our neighbor as ourselves, what exactly does He mean?In Luke 10 verses 25–37, Jesus shares the Parable of the Good Samaritan to illustrate what it means to love our neighbors the way Jesus loves us.“A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho when he was attacked by robbers. They stripped him of his clothes, beat him and went away, leaving him half dead. A priest happened to be going down the same road, and when he saw the man, he passed by on the other side. So too, a Levite, when he came to the place and saw him, passed by on the other side. But a Samaritan, as he traveled, came where the man was; and when he saw him, he took pity on him. He went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine. Then he put the man on his own donkey, brought him to an inn and took care of him. The next day he took out two denarii and gave them to the innkeeper. ‘Look after him,' he said, ‘and when I return, I will reimburse you for any extra expense you may have.'”The Lord asks us not to dole out kindness sparingly, but to generously pour love and compassion over the hurting people we meet...even complete strangers we encounter on the road of life.Let's pray.Heavenly Father, give us eyes to see, ears to hear, and hands to help the broken and bruised people in our midst every day. There are lost and wounded souls in every corner of this world, and we ask for the courage to reach out to them with love. In Jesus' name, amen. Change your shirt, and you can change the world!
