Summer style isn't over yet, fashion besties! In this week's episode of Wear This Not That, Holly dives headfirst into the dresses of the season—because August may be here, but the summer heat (and summer fashion!) is still going strong. HOT TIP: Listen to this episode wherever you get your podcasts, AND watch us on YouTube! And, check out Holly's Pinterest Board this week – see more Summer Dresses than you can wear in one summer! Whether you're running errands, planning a last-minute getaway, or just want to look fab while grabbing groceries, you'll be covered with dresses that are elegant, flattering, and will be the basis of your summer wardrobe from here on out. From maxi and midi lengths, night dresses, florals, and top colors of the season, let's make sure you've got the styles that will turn heads, in addition to transitioning you seamlessly into early fall. That's smart shopping. HOLLY'S SUMMER DRESS PICKS: (And yes, she's done the styling for you. You're welcome.) The Midi Dress: Style experts and trend setters alike are loving the poplin midi dress this summer. Great for day or night, with a sneaker or a heel, it's chicest one-and-done piece. Look for smocked tops and full skirts to flatter your shape and add movement. The Night Dress Trend: No, you're not headed to bed—but it might look like it. Think ruffle collars, floaty fabrics, and a hipster-chic twist. British brand If Only If leads the trend, and yes, it can be styled for the street with sandals and a cardi. Brands to Shop Now: • Ciao Lucia: Smocked-top, spaghetti strap day dresses from LA—feminine, flowy, and just different enough to stand out. • STAUD: We are loving the Delfina silk dress—lace panel, spaghetti straps, and simplicity of this. Belt it and add a jacket for extra credit. • Rebecca Taylor: She's back with a vengeance. Don't sleep on the Priya poplin shirt dress! • Proenza Schouler White Label: Check out the sleeveless A-line in vibrant cyan. Great fit and a timeless statement. • Ulla Johnson: Known for her bold prints and flattering silhouettes. Inclusive sizing up to 16, and accessories worth your full attention. • Reformation: The Bryson and Maven dresses are both structured and feminine, with gorgeous necklines and shoulder detail that elevate your entire look to make you look long and lean. From the Wear This Not That Online Shop: • The Odessa Dress: A toile-printed dream. Deep V, easy fit, non-clingy, and flattering for all body types. Perfect with sneakers or a heel. • The Caftan Dress (available in Concrete Jungle and Zebra Print): Statement sleeve, bold prints, and an optional belt for a cinched look. One sold out already—so move fast! Fit Tips From Holly: • Bigger bust? Try a halter, boat neck, or off-the-shoulder to draw attention upward. • Small on top? Go for a strapless or one-shoulder dress to balance proportions. • Want to emphasize your waist? Look for A-line cuts or use belts strategically. • Skip the slip dress unless you're totally straight-bodied—it could cling in all the wrong places if you're not careful. Why Wear This Not? Think of us as the stylist in your back pocket. Every piece Holly recommends (or sells!) is seasonless, ageless, and will put an end to the 'what to wear' epidemic. We take the guesswork out of getting dressed. These are pieces no one else will have. It's curated style that fits your life—and your closet. Holly hand-picks every item for the Wear This Not That online boutique, so you know it's fabulous, functional, and fashion-forward. Shopping has never been easier—or more stylish. BT and Sal dive into the highly anticipated July 4th Subway Series, acknowledging that while it promises excitement, both the Yankees and Mets are currently struggling, making this clash more about survival than a typical rivalry showdown. They debate the deeper, fundamental issues plaguing each team—from the Yankees' unexplained poor play to the Mets' injury woes and reliance on future returns. While Sal expresses more confidence in the Mets' ability to recover due to their ownership and organizational structure, BT remains skeptical about both teams' playoff chances, emphasizing the need for significant, immediate changes, possibly even a "big trade," to stabilize their respective seasons.
BT and Sal dissect the simultaneous struggles of the Mets and Yankees, discussing player performance, front office decisions, and the impact of injuries. They debate the future of key players like Pete Alonso and the Yankees' draft busts, while questioning the analytical approach to modern baseball.

Catch a Fire is the fifth studio album by Bob Marley and the Wailers, released on April 13, 1973. It is widely regarded as one of the greatest reggae albums of all time and a key record in bringing Jamaican music to an international audience. This album was the band's first release under Island Records, with producer Chris Blackwell polishing their raw, roots reggae sound to appeal to rock audiences. The result was a fusion of reggae with rock and soul influences, featuring electric guitar solos, keyboard overdubs, and a more polished production style.Thematically, Catch a Fire blends political consciousness, social struggle, and spirituality, with standout tracks like "Concrete Jungle," "Slave Driver," and "400 Years" addressing issues of oppression and resistance. The album also contains more personal and romantic songs such as "Stir It Up", which became one of Marley's signature hits.Though it wasn't an immediate commercial success, Catch a Fire has since become a landmark album, helping to launch Bob Marley into global superstardom and solidifying reggae's place on the world stage.Listen to the album on Apple MusicListen to the album on SpotifyWhat did you think of this album? The documentary "Concrete Jungle Gym" chronicles the brilliant life and legacy of Bob Cassilly and the creation of the City Museum. Premiering Nov. 10 at the St. Louis International Film Festival, the film draws on decades of footage to create an unusually intimate portrait of an artist driven to create new art from the demolished pieces of the city around him, and who often found himself at odds with St. Louis authorities. We talk with the film's creators, Mike Gualdoni and Zach White.
Is the stadium a stealth fortress? Maybe! Billie, Lauren and Rosa enjoy another thumping home win with flowers for Sarr, Solanke and PFA players rep, Gentle Ben (of course). We ponder the lineup for Galatasaray away (welcome to hell, Will Lankshear?) and wonder if Ipswich at home is actually a big mentality test (yes). We give our verdict on a very ropey but crucial win for the women against West Ham, and pray that we get out of the Etihad alive. Plus! Billie's film reviews, Lauren's Netflix adventures, and Rosa's first experience of Tottenham's former IKEA, the insanity that is Drumsheds. Hosted on Acast. Man Parrish in conversation with David Eastaugh https://www.manparrish.com Parrish's early live shows at Bronx hip-hop clubs were spectacles of lights, glitter, and pyrotechnics, which drew as much from the Warhol mystique as the Cold Crush Brothers. His first release was "Hip Hop, Be Bop (Don't Stop)" issued in 1982, which Parrish said faced a racial backlash from the African-American hip hop community: "I was making the music that they played, and then they found out I was white and gay they pulled it. It didn't hurt sales but it was shocking." The song was featured in the film Shaun of the Dead, the video game Grand Theft Auto: Vice City which sold millions of copies. It was sampled in Sway & King Tech's 1991 song "Follow 4 Now", from their second album, Concrete Jungle. His biggest chart success in the UK was his recording of "Male Stripper" with Man 2 Man, which peaked at No. 4 in the UK Singles Chart

Hip-hop is a rose that grew from concrete. And there's no other place it could have grown than the fertile soil of the South Bronx. At the beginning of the 20th Century, urban planning destroyed neighborhoods and led to white flight, and tall high-density towers re-arranged the landscape of the borough. Around the same time, a massive wave of Caribbean immigrants and Black Southerners were migrating to the South Bronx, leading to a convergence of cultures that would light a spark for the birth of hip-hop in the summer of 1973.Hip-hop is turning 50 this year. So, for Black History Month, Into America is presenting “Street Disciples: Politics, Power, and the Rise of Hip-Hop.” Trymaine Lee is looking back on the political conditions and policies that have inspired half a century of hip-hop, and how over time, hip-hop began to shape America. On part one of “Street Disciples,” how the concrete jungle of New York in the 1970s led to the birth and spread of hip-hop. Trymaine is joined by: Kool DJ Red Alert, DJ Grandwizzard Theodore, historian Mark Anthony Neal, sociologist Tricia Rose, and journalist Davey D.Follow and share the show on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram, using the handle @intoamericapod.Thoughts?
