Editors - Andrew Buckland ACE and Scott Morris A COMPLETE UNKNOWN editors Andrew Buckland, ACE and Scott Morris came into James Mangold's latest film being almost completely unknown to one another.  Aside from mutual acquaintances, the two had never worked together or even met prior to this film.  In spite of this, their combined talents tackled a big film that featured forty live performances and an aggressive post schedule. Co-written and directed by James Mangold, A COMPLETE UNKNOWN takes place in the early 1960s, when 19-year-old Bob Dylan arrives in New York with his guitar and revolutionary talent, destined to change the course of American music.  Forming his most intimate relationships during his rise to fame, he grows restless with the folk movement, making a controversial choice that reverberates worldwide. Hallo Freunde für meine KK Presents Mix Reihe habe ich diesmal ParkAlemão aus Chicago, USA eingeladen einen Mix zu machen. freut euch auf sehr cooles Set von ParkAlemão Enjoy It Kurt Kjergaard Hello friends this time I invited ParkAlemão from Chicago, USA to do a mix for my KK Presents Mix series. Look forward to a very cool set by ParkAlemão Enjoy It Kurt Kjergaard BIO Park started his journey into electronic music in the world of Trance. Mixes such as the Politics Of Dancing released in 2001 by the great Paul van Dyk left an indelible mark on him. Though a native of Chicago, Parker moved to France in 2009 and soon was introduced to the world of House Music, specifically Deep House. He loved discovering a whole new style of electronic music and a new set of extremely talented DJs. The French people were extremely kind and mentored him in how to properly beat-match and craft sets both on CDJs and vinyl. He mixed live at a few local bars and was instantly hooked. Upon his return to the states, he discovered the roots of House Music in his hometown of Chicago frequenting legendary clubs such as the late Vision, Spybar, Sound bar, and Smartbar. He then discovered a DJ that would change his life, the mighty Guy J. This is when he started his journey in the world of Progressive House music. The rest is history! Parker enjoys djing locally and plans to release his first production this year! He also releases at least one two-hour set a month and enjoys mixing live on Twitch. Follow his social networks below to check out his latest content. He also added a Ferris Bueller's Day Off theme to this one! Legendary film...Enjoy! As a preview of the 2023 summer series, we're offering you a rerun of the first issues of the season 1 summer series, broadcast for the first time in the middle of covid, summer 2020, and to start with the example of a modern-day "castle" by SOM (see their interview in issue S4#39)... listening to it, you can see how fast the world is changing... can't it?____The John Hancock Tower located in Chicago/USA, 875 North Michigan Avenue, was delivered in 1969. At the time, it was a symbol of power and innovation: the highest skyscraper in the world, multi-purpose, innovative technology thanks to a metal structure with cross-bracing made of tubes visible on the façade.More than 50 years after its construction, in what way does "Big John", resonates with the current news moment? Given the increase in the world's population, should we continue the race to reach the highest skyscraper (as the Jeddah Tower) ? Are we fundamentally innovative in mixed programmes? In this age of digital mock-up (BIM), parametric architecture and Big Data, what is the challenge? In six minutes, we try to put this into perspective. Gina is a clinical social worker and a photographer based in Chicago USA and a mother of 2 boys.Growing up Gina was inspired by her photographer dad to experiment with taking photos, but didn't think that she could do it seriously. She dabbled with it in high school and fell in love with it, but put it aside to pursue a career in mental health .Gina studied and became a certified clinical social worker and specialised in treating patients with eating disorders and disordered eating. During a break from her clinical work after having her children Gina rediscovered her love for photography. Her style is very natural, soulful, emotive and raw. When it came time for her to return to her 'day job' she was looking for a way to blend her two passions, she wanted her photography to be a real and true representation and celebration of the unique and diverse feminine beauty in the world. Her two passions collided in her recent book Body Beautiful: How Changing the Conversation About Our Bodies Has the Power to Change the World which is a collection of conversations and photos of women and girls, around the topic of body image and self acceptance.***This episode contains discussion around body image, diet culture + eating disorders.***Gina - website / instagram / buy her bookPodcast - instagram / websiteIf today's episode is triggering for you in any way I encourage you to seek help from those around you, medical professionals or from resources on line. Luzbetak, SVD Professor of Mission and Culture, Emeritus at Catholic Theological Union in Chicago USA, and a presentation on "Pachamamma Christianity – The Pan-Amazonian Synod and Indigenous Religious Identity." About the conference: Borders between religions have always been porous in terms of ideas, rituals, communities and individuals. Multireligious identities form in the encounters and in the overlapping areas between religions. Prof. Aasulv Lande served as a missionary in Japan and got deeply involved in encountering Buddhism. Much of his research and life took place in the areas of contact between Christianity and other religions, most notably Buddhism. In this conference, we want to explore and discuss the phenomenon of multireligious identities.  ---------------------------------------------- Music for the R&T is generously provided by the Nous  ---------------------------------------------- Religion and Theology is produced by Joel Kuhlin for the Center for Theology and Religious Studies. If you have comments or critique of this episode, or any other episodes of R&T, please contact us via the podcast's twitteraccount: @reloteol.

Triangulating biography, American politics, and images related to African American trauma, I have developed a language that employs iconography and subtleties in tandem. The works of Cady Noland, Robert Morris, and David Hammons have provided a linage through which I view my practice. What drives my creative process most is a desire to alchemically transform objects and material to address nuance in black historical narratives. I traverse multiple styles of making and presentation to draw the viewer into an environment with each piece. I work this way as a means to reveal the power of the imagery used and evoke curiosity in the narratives that lie within them. One of my recent works, "Things Fall Apart," 2018, is a poetic response to authoritarian restrictions on childhood based on race. In the work, the shape of a swing set is fashioned after a police barricade and painted a matte black to mask its direct association. One of the two seats painted has an elementary triad pattern that is reminiscent of play structures, the other seat is painted with a Pan-African flag scheme and sits close enough to the ground to almost be rendered useless. The work's primary design is to question the ability of black children to empower themselves while within a subjugated state. Alternatively, other works I make have direct responses to art historical narratives. My piece “We Aren't Supposed to Love Each Other Anyways”, 2016, is a part of a series inspired by Robert Morris's “Untitled (Corner Piece)”, 1964. In this work, I borrow the gesture of fabricating a plywood triangular corner piece, while interjecting a narrative of trauma in using a destroyed images of Fred Hampton, prominent martyr of the 1960's black power movement. This gesture, combined with the minimized scale in comparison to Morris, I force the viewer to stare down at the object as if it were a headstone or backed into a corner away from prominent view. These differences highlight the range of source materials and presentations I seek. I often think of my work as a hybrid between site-specific installation and black cultural ephemera; decaying and disappearing much like the histories it draws from and therefore sits on the perimeters of an art object, a monument, and detritus.
