Now Muslims are improvising, as in many places the rituals of Ramadan must be experienced at home or online. This show, recorded in 2009, grew out of an invitation to Muslim listeners to reflect on what it means to be part of what often is referred to in the abstract as “the Muslim world.” We received responses from all over the world and were struck by the vivid stories about Ramadan itself, across a remarkable spectrum of life and spiritual sensibility.Sixteen Muslims, in their own words, speak about the delights and gravity of Islam’s holiest month.GUEST BIOAllee Ramadhan is a retired federal prosecutor and the father of 11 children. Cantaven a capella i algunes d’elles estaven començant a viure la seua pròpia maternitat. Aquell quartet de veus poderoses es deia Sumayae, que vol dir mare en senegalés.
There is a say in Spanish that goes “La Necesidad es la Madre de la Invención.” That translates kind of “Need is the mother of invention.” This is the case of Dona Maria and her husband Gilberto Romero. They came from Ensenada Baja California some time ago. Struggling and desperate, they decided to try the only thing they knew to do well: delicious fish tacos. Let’s not forget that during that time, because they didn’t know where to buy fresh fish for the tacos, don Gilberto went all the way to Ensenada, Mexico, every other day to get fresh fish. But this is not all, he did it riding a very old motorcycle. And little by little they become one of the most famous taco places in Los Angeles. Let’s talk to Maria and Thelma about this unbelievable story today on Como Lo Hizo.If you want to learn more about el Taconazo, go to www.taconazo.comExecutive Producer and Host: Fernando Schiantarelli. Como lo Hizo is a co-production of iHeart Radio - Premiere Networks and Crece Grow Media.

Nine Muslims, in their own words, reveal a creative convergence of Islamic spirituality and American identity that is unfolding, largely unnoticed, in the United States.
