Plus, it will share more of the options that you'll have to make as you progress in labor. Do NOT miss it! In this episode What evidence-based birth is (learn more here) How you can apply it to your care. Why your doctor might recommend something against evidence based birth. In this episode, I talk about Pablo Larrain's 2016 film, "Jackie." It looks at Jackie Kennedy's grief in the days after the assassination of her husband, President John F. Kennedy, in 1963. I explore how the film represents grief and trauma, delve into the real struggles Jackie faced after losing her husband, give information about the making of the film and Natalie Portman's performance, explain why the film is comforting to me as someone who has known a great deal of loss, and more. As I recorded this episode, the 13th anniversary of my father's death passed. I channel my heartbreak into the episode and go in-depth about losing him and how devastating his death has been for me. Consider supporting us here: www.patrickcoffin.media/donate ******************************************************* Self-described feminist singer Paula Cole had a hit single in 1996 titled “Where Have All the Cowboys Gone,” in which she bemoaned the dearth of real men (“Where is my John Wayne; where is my prairie song; where is my happy ending; where have all the cowboys gone?”) Something happened to men in the last 50 years. They stopped being men and became guys, and now, in tragic numbers, feckless soy boys. Dr. Taylor Marshall and Tim Gordon of the smashing TnT podcast (Taylor Marshall and co-host Tim Gordon) and YouTube channel join me to talk about the death of men and how it has affected the behavior of the hierarchy of the Catholic Church. What would a resurrection of men look like? In this episode you will learn Why we need to stop validating the word feminism (namely its toxic meaning) with some kind of nice adjective, like “Christian feminism,” “new feminism.” The roots of the crisis of masculinity How this crisis manifests itself in the disappointing behavior of so many priests, bishops, and cardinals Why the biblical analogy of Christ as Bridegroom and the Church as Bride remains the fundamental truth of the relationship between the sexes The basic distinction between masculine and feminine, and why the sexes are not “equal” but complementary.
