After music shows, it became an underground comedy club. It was demolished in 2023 despite the attempts of arts groups to preserve it. Lucky's Comics was a comic and bookstore at 3972 Main Street which has now relocated eight blocks north. Other venues mentioned are The Regional Assembly of Text (3934 Main Street), Blim (opened in 2003 in the old BC Electric Building at 23 W Pender, then at 197 East 17th Ave and now at 115 E Pender St, an art shop, no longer a venue) Solder and Sons (247 Main Street), Chris's shed, the Java Joint (Surrey), the New York Theatre now the York Theatre (639 Commercial Dr). Bands mentioned include Apollo Ghosts, Chain and the Gang, Charlamides, Fanshaw (Olivia Fetherstonhaugh), Kellarissa (Larissa Loyva), Tygh Runyan (Beans), crys cole, Nicholas Krgovich, connect_icut, Collapsing Opposites, the Diskettes, Tough Age, Darto, Weed, Hemogoblin, Cascadia, Smithy Ramone, Kidnap Kids (formerly Beggars & Chairs), Better Friends than Lovers, Marta McKeever, the Unicorns, Swamp Camp, Sandro Perri (Polmo Polpo), Gal Gracen. 2 MUCH TV - The Best Comedy/Songwriting Podcast of 2020 - Real Magazine A VENGEFUL GOD TRIED TO STOP US. I blew up the recording interface by plugging in the wrong power cable and then my big computer died because it's a thousand years old. BUT HERE WE ARE ONCE AGAIN this time to talk about Freaks & Geeks - Dead Dogs and Gym Teachers. We also get into the memories that keep us up at night, chat room bullying and we talk a lot about Randy Bachman for some reason. Our guest this week is drum god and music writer JESSE LOCKE. He takes us though his pro-TV childhood full of huge classic faves and he brings a new musical twist to the pod. https://twitter.com/wipeoutbeat https://www.instagram.com/wipeoutbeat/ https://tough-age.bandcamp.com/ https://motorists.bandcamp.com/album/from-the-wreckage https://daily.bandcamp.com/contributors/jesse-locke ____ www.patreon.com/2muchtv www.prettymatty.com www.ponytheband.ca twitter.com/prttymtty twitter.com/PONYtoronto

Some of us love it, some of us hate it and some just kind of sit in the middle. Matty is riding on a high from being mildly responsible, we hate on an A list canadian celebrity and we brainstorm new ideas for the pod. Our guest this week is Jarrett Samson, guitarist and singer of Canadian college radio darling rock band TOUGH AGE. Jarrett is a certified community head but he does not want to talk to you about it. Mint Records fans were thrilled to tune into the Netflix and CW TV show Riverdale and spot a Tough Age poster above the bed of main character Archie Andrews. Vancouver's favorite indie pop band was now a part of that show's world of sex, murder and intrigue. Although Tough Age started as a Vancouver band, the band recently reformed back east when founding members Jarrett and Penny moved to Toronto, adding old friend Jesse on drums. I hung out with the band in the van right before the last show of a west coast tour in their old hometown Vancouver. What's it like to get your band merch on a big time TV show? Which Tough Age song does Archie need to hear the most? What are the band's crazy Riverdale fan theories? Who are the New Zealand band The Clean and why are Tough Age such big fans? What's it like to stand in the crowd before your set and hear people in the crowd talk smack about you? Which Tough Age song came from a cursed band? Will a mysterious stranger interrupt our interview? Which Tough Age song is about Jarrett's frustration with the Vancouver scene? What's the east coast versus west coast, Toronto versus Vancouver rivalry like when you've lived in both places? You'll have to listen to find out! Both Jarratt and Penny work in a major Toronto comic book store so in the podcast edition of the show, we get to talk about comics! Tracks played on the radio edit of the show... 1) Tough Age, Shame (2017) "Shame" 2) Tough Age, Shame (2017) "Unclean" 3) The Clean, Boodle Boodle Boodle (1981) "Point That Thing Somewhere Else" (background/snippet) ** 4) Tough Age, Shame (2017) "Piquant Frieze" 5) Tough Age, Tough Age (2013) "Cocaine Vouchers" 6) Tough Age, Shame (2017) "Me In Glue" ALL songs CANCON except**

Pinball Sessions are live, off the floor, pressure free recordings by some of Canada and the World's best artists. Recorded in Guelph, ON at the Pinball Studios, full sessions are released twice a week and can be heard and downloaded for free at http://pinballsessions.com. THIS EPISODE: Victoria vs. Vancouver! Who will win? Everyone, because we have Tough Age and Babysitter on today's podcast! And, just because we love you, it's also an Enhanced Podcast, meaning if you have nothing else to look at while listening we include the album art and links to their social media RIGHT ON YOUR SCREEN (technology!) as the episode plays. Tough Age are a Vancouver-based band that describe themselves as 'korean gut/witch baby/no band/the drearies mixed' or Scuzz Pop. We see them as high energy, guitar driven doowop surf pop for a new generation. We feature 'fodder' as they prepare to record the song '50Girls50.' Babysitter are from Victoria, BC and hit us between the eyes with sludge punk power. Their song 'Holiday' is a perfect match for Tough Age, so it seemed fitting to mash the songs together like you were at a punk show that was going all night long Both full sessions can be found at http://pinballsessions.com Tough Age: http://pinballsessions.com/2013/11/11/tough-age/ Babysitter: http://pinballsessions.com/2013/11/14/babysitter/ Tough Age Online: * Twitter: https://twitter.com/toughage * Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Tough-Age/490775970985380 * Bandcamp: http://tough-age.bandcamp.com/ Their new album is on iTunes: https://itunes.apple.com/ca/album/tough-age/id734023812 Babysitter Online: * Bandcamp: http://babysitter.bandcamp.com/ * Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/babysitterband * Tumblr: http://babysitterrevolution.tumblr.com/ Find Pinball Sessions Online: Web: http://pinballsessions.com/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/PinballSessions/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/pinballsessions Instagram: http://instagram.com/pinballsessions/ Google+: https://plus.google.com/109652065469078482120/posts --- When we reach 1,000 Likes on Facebook we will release the entire Pokey LaFarge session, recorded this summer during Hillside Festival in Guelph.
