Constellations, a New Space and Satellite Innovation Podcast
5G from space holds the promise to make mobile connectivity accessible to everyone and everywhere. Past efforts to mainstream satellite communications did not have the advantage that 5G brings - a single technology standard that enables Mobile Network Operators (MNOs) and satellite service providers to complement each other's networks to deliver nearly ubiquitous, instantaneous, connectivity for large numbers of devices globally. With us today on Constellations Podcast is Lucas Hansen, Vice President and General Manager of Wireless and Satellite Direct-to-Device Communications at Keysight Technologies to discuss the opportunities, challenges, use cases and future of 5G from space.

Two of the long-tail fears surrounding the future of the internet are the danger of creating either an internet controlled by the hands of the few and powerful at a global scale or what's known as the “splinternet”—the cabining off of nation-states' networks from the mainstream due to censorship, technological change, or commercial fragmentation. Susan Ness sees something that lies between those poles. As a former FCC commissioner, Ness has extensive insight into the national and international machinations of the superstructure of our internet, and she has been crafting a new framework for understanding where the internet could go. Modularity is a co-regulatory approach to internet platform governance that helps to align democracies despite different legal systems, different regulatory horizons, and different societal norms. But how can we ensure that more illiberal governments don't take advantage of this much more federated approach? In this episode, Shane explores Ness' concept of modularity from all sides. Tune in as they connect the nodes on internet governance innovation!

Networks are all about meaningful connections. When we think about the future of digital supply chains and ‘the network of networks “ powering the world, it’s just as much about connecting people with accurate information, partners, and ideas, as much as it is about connecting people with opportunities across plan, source, make, deliver, and reimagining conventional business models. In the future of work, we will exist in ONE multi-enterprise business network (MEBN), a super-highway connecting your business, products, services, and impacts to global trading partners. In Episode 38, Christine Barnhart from Infor Supply Chain Strategy and Lora Cecere’s ‘Network of Network’ consortium joins friend Sheri Hinish to explores the supply chain of the future. Concepts like solutions vs. software, single information models, interoperability, real-time vs. near time interactions, functional specialization across nodes, partner selection in digital transformation, and key-takeaways around why change management is critical in supply chain technology implementation. In the 2nd half of this episode, we explore why diversity & inclusion is important in technology. Who wants an echo chamber of ideas? Christine explores her journey as a supply chain Rebel, transitioning as a supply chain leader/practitioner to technology. We also explore the ‘Network of Networks’ thought leadership pioneered by Lora Cecere, where Sheri and Christine met many years ago. The power of relationships is evangelized in this episode. Christine's lessons learned as a Rebel: 1. be tenacious 2. be patient but not complacent 3. be willing to continuously learn and push those around you 4. develop you tribe 5. your best ideas are not always part of a formal process Please show your support by subscribing, giving a 5-star like, and sharing with your network! According to Dr David Haase, a keynote speaker at the 2015 BioCeuticals Research Symposium, the human body is a network of networks of networks. As a functional neurologist, Dr Haase is mindful of this fact when treating patients with neurodegenerative disease. He goes on to explain the difficulty faced when trying to influence someones health by addressing a single target of influence. Rather, a multidirectional, iterative approach, incorporating dietary changes and judicious supplementation is typically required, which can influence a whole host of biomolecules that interface with the body. In this podcast interview, David Haase explores the predisposing factors of neurodegenerative diseases and the functional clinical strategies he adopts when addressing these underlying causes of neurodegeneration in his patients.
