Warner Bros. has asked Ian McKellen to reprise his role as Gandalf in the upcoming 2026 film The Hunt for Gollum, though his return is not yet confirmed since the script is still being written. Directed by Andy Serkis, the film aims to expand the Middle-earth universe further. News of two new Lord of the Rings movies has sent a ripple of excitement through the home of middle earth in Wellington. Bill Hickman reports.

Lord of The rings is one of the most popular movie franchises of all time. Peter Jackson and andy Serkis return for a new Golllum movie. Good move? Bad move? There are going to be two more Lord of the Rings movies, the first is scheduled to debut in theatres in 2026. It has a working title of Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum. Entertainment writer Sandro Monetti spoke to Corin Dann
