If faith comes by hearing then what we're listening to becomes of upmost importance. If we want to change the direction of our faith, we must change the types of input we allow into our hearts. From Sunday 04.28.24
A faith in Jesus that does not result in action is worthless. The Bible seems to suggest that true faith is demonstrated by our deeds. A powerful example of faith in the scriptures is that of the Centurion in Luke 7. This man asks for Jesus to come to His house because he believes Jesus is the only hope of healing for his servant. The centurion’s faith was not something that he only held in his heart; it was something he was willing to act upon. Jesus actually comments on how amazed he is by the man’s faith.
We live in a culture that's not only thriving, but capitalizing on our fear. What if instead of unlocking new fears, we were able to unlock new faith based on what God has done and promised? From Sunday 04.07.24
When you find yourself in a spiritual desert, stop and listen! Realize that you are there because God wants to spend time with you. No doubt, He has something special to He wants to teach you! Show Notes: Episode 295 Subscribe: My Daily Briefing

Summary: Courtney's transformative journey from a childhood haunted by fear to a life embraced by Jesus resonates deeply, showcasing resilience and the redemptive power of faith. Candidly recounting family addiction and liberation from the doctrine of damnation, her story highlights struggles with identity as the 'golden child' and 'peacemaker,' navigating adolescence and the impact of purity culture on relationships. Parenthood and marriage become arenas for reckoning with deep beliefs, exploring unmet expectations and faith-testing trials. Through discussions on control in life's unpredictability, the challenges of pregnancies and NICU stays, and the transformative influence of seeking solace in scripture, the episode culminates in a narrative of finding freedom in Jesus—a redefined identity and desire, revealing the potential for remarkable transformation amidst profound struggles.View more resources on our website!TimeStamps0:00 - Transformation9:45 - Identity, Labels, and Adolescent Behavior17:45 - Navigating Purity Culture and Relationships26:08 - Messy Young Love & Religious Beliefs35:40 - Disappointment and Challenges in Parenthood45:05 - Struggles With Disappointment and Faith1:01:14 - Transformative Power of Reading the Bible1:12:22 - Finding Freedom in Jesus1:17:59 - Transformation Through the Good GospelKeywords: Faith Journey, Resilience, Redemptive power of faith, Family addiction, Liberation from doctrine, Struggles with identity, Purity culture, Parenthood and marriage challenges, Faith-testing trials, Finding freedom in Jesus.
What's the big deal with BARAK? He's a great example of applying NEW COURAGE to an OLD PROBLEM. Deborah, a prophetess of God, is the one who reminds him, "Hasn't the Lord ALREADY TOLD you about this? Hasn't He already promised that He'll be with you and will show up in your great battle?"Fortunately, the Lord is not silent in conviction. Perhaps the Lord has been spiritually tugging in you about something. Maybe it has to do with your tongue, or wallet, or eyes, or thoughts or zipper. Maybe you need the courage of Barak who applies NEW FAITH directed toward an OLD PROBLEM. May the Lord give you COURAGE OF ACTION for the thing He's already given CLARITY OF CONVICTION.

Rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine was hospitalized after being ambushed by a group of attackers in the bathroom of a gym in South Florida on Tuesday, Variety has confirmed. The 26-year-old rapper, whose real name is Daniel Hernandez, sustained injuries to his face and bruises, according to his attorney, Lance Lazzaro. Lazzaro said the rapper was attacked in and outside the LA Fitness gym sauna by three or four men who beat him up, though he tried fighting back. “He had cuts to his face and bruises,” Lazzaro said. The attorney said that the perpetrators fled after employees heard the disturbance. Police in South Florida were called, and Hernandez was transported via ambulance to a local hospital, according to Lazzaro. As of now, it is unclear if the rapper remains hospitalized. It would be very easy to think that rap and hip hop have little if anything in common with music like bluegrass and old time. After all, we have been led to believe that these styles of music come from cultures on opposite sides of the musical spectrum. How could the two have any common ground? Actually, they have many more connections than you might imagine. This connection is embodied in groups like Gangstagrass and in recent work by Jake Blount, and as members of Gangstagrass point out in our conversation here, rap and folk music both stem from the same instincts. At its heart, this is about a musical path that diverged centuries ago, or at least seemed to.In this episode we speak with Dolio the Sleuth, Rench the Mastermind and B.E. Farrow of Gangstagrass, as well as Dan Tyminski, who performed with them last fall, and we welcome Dr. Jordan Laney of Virginia Tech and the Virginia Rural Health Association, and author, podcaster and former editor at No Depression and Folk Alley, Kim Ruehl, as we unravel a story that began centuries ago, but has only recently reached a pivotal chapter in its history. This is going to be an interesting combo! Jay Dyer (JaysAnalysis.com) and Timothy Gordon (TimothyJGordon.com) join the show to open with a story about a rise in "deaths of despair" that may be fueled by a lack of religious faith, and a story about a potential reconciliation that is brewing between the Orthodox Church and the Vatican. We discuss how stories like this are rarely ever about Theology, but about globalism and the New Faith fostering it. A really great show and I hope there are many more like it. Brand New - Part 1
Banjo player, fiddler, singer, and scholar Jake Blount's latest feat is an Afro-futurist concept album called The New Faith, where instead of shiny interstellar travel, man-made climate crises reach their logical end points, and a small community survives, staying lifted by the sacred songs of the past. Blount presents the music of this imagined community as a religious service in three sections, captured as a future field recording - one with a direct through-line to folk, gospel, the blues, and spirituals. The tie-in with Octavia Butler's visionary 1993 work of climate/science fiction, Parable of the Sower, is explicit, says Blount, as this album may well be the first musical Afro-futurist cautionary tale (some might say dystopia, but that would imply that there was a utopia to begin with.) The collected and re-cast songs on The New Faith have been deeply researched (just as they were on his excellent 2020 record, Spider Tales) and show profound respect invoking and honoring the ancestors: Bessie Jones of the Sea Island Singers, civil rights activist Fannie Lou Hamer, bluesman Skip James, and the legendary gospel singer Mahalia Jackson. There's a full-throated electric guitar on “Didn't It Rain” summoning guitar hero Sister Rosetta Tharpe; songs sourced from fingerstyle and Delta blues players Blind Willie McTell and Skip James, respectively; and a pervasive bass thump throughout extending from the Gullah-Geechee Ring Shout tradition of groove-keeping. Together with cleverly deployed fiddle and banjo, (please see his explainer on the banjo, and Black String Band history(!)), lots of hand claps, and call and response vocals, gospel choruses, and rapped verse from Demeanor, Blount seamlessly and instructively links up past, present, and potential future, in ways that will undoubtedly resonate. Jake Blount and his band play some of these tunes, in-studio. – Caryn Havlik Set list: "Once There Was No Sun" "City of Heaven" "Didn't It Rain" Watch "Once There Was No Sun": Watch "City of Heaven": Watch "Didn't It Rain":
