Matthew 8:10 NKJV “When Jesus heard it, He marveled, and said to those who followed, “Assuredly, I say to you, I have not found such great faith, not even in Israel!” How could the Centurion in Matthew 8:5-13 and the Canaanite woman in Matthew 15:21-28 who didn't have any close contact with Jesus have such great faith, meanwhile, Peter and the other disciples who spent all their time with Jesus had little faith?
Pastor Daniel Mancha July 17th, 2022 Matthew 16:13-16 NKJV “When Jesus came into the region of Caesarea Philippi, He asked His disciples, saying, “Who do men say that I, the Son of Man, am?” So they said, “Some say John the Baptist, some Elijah, and others Jeremiah or one of the prophets.” He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?” Simon Peter answered and said, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.”” A disciple is: One who follows the teachings of another. One who accepts and assists in spreading the doctrine of another. ----more---- A new Church located in Los Angeles, California. Come and connect with us every Sunday evening at 6:30 PM in Downey, CA. Hebrews 11,MSG, The fundamental fact of our existence is that this TRUST in God, this FAITH, is the firm foundation under everything that makes life worth living. It's our handle on what we can't see. Simply put, faith is God inspired trust and expectation. And according to the apostle James, it demands a corresponding action. We could say, it's activated by our actions. 2 Corinthians 5:7,AMP- We walk by faith, (God inspired trust and expectation) not by sight, NLT, We live by believing and not by seeing. We live our lives in a manner consistent with our CONFIDENT BELIEF IN GOD'S PROMISES. A major component or action of faith is us speaking what God says, right in the face of not seeing anything yet. We cannot overestimate the spoken word of God, even in its seed form, it is still the most powerful force in existence. Jesus and Moses said, “Man shall live by every word that comes from the mouth of God.” Joshua & Proverbs paraphrase, Don't let God's Word leave your mouth, pay close attention to what it says, don't let it out of your sight, on purpose do what it says and you'll experience its success. Remember, God said, “Let the redeemed of the Lord, say so” Hebrews 1 makes it very clear, Jesus Christ is the exact image of His Father, The Almighty. Upholding the entire physical and spiritual universe by the word of His power. The Psalmist says, God's word is flawless, purer than gold, sweeter than honey, sharper than a double edged sword, forever settled, true and righteous, transforming the soul. And in keeping them there is great reward. Psalm 138, Lord You have magnified Your word above Your name.Jesus said, I only say what the Father says. Seriously, what if we on purpose started saying what our Father says about us on a more regular basis? For example: Psalm 103:2-5,NKJV- Bless the LORD, O my soul, And forget not all His benefits: Who forgives all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases, Who redeems your life from destruction, Who crowns you with lovingkindness and tender mercies, Who satisfies your mouth with good things, So that your youth is renewed like the eagle's. Hebrews 11:3,NLT- By faith(God inspired trust and expectation) we understand that the entire universe was formed at God's command, that what we now see did not come from anything that can be seen. Hebrews 1, Jesus Christ is the exact image of His Father, The Almighty. Upholding the entire physical and spiritual universe by the word of His power. And according to Romans 10, faith, this God inspired trust and expectation comes from hearing God's words about His Anointed One. This means we can't just continue hearing whatever we want to hear and think we're going to walk in faith. Remember what Paul tells us in Colossians, “The same way you received Christ is how you walk in Him.” We've got to get this settled, faith is spiritual substance, evidence, the title deed, proof of things not seen. It truly is a God inspired trust and expectation. Proverbs 3:5-6,MSG- Trust GOD from the bottom of your heart; don't try to figure out everything on your own. Listen for GOD's voice in everything you do, everywhere you go; He's the one who will keep you on track. Don't assume that you know it all. Run to GOD! For everyone of us that are heirs to the Kingdom, part of our responsibility is expressing God in the world. That means being able to have practical conversations about Kingdom realities. A big part of the life of faith starts with us seeing ourselves the way God sees us, in His class, made in His image, heirs to His Kingdom. Not a religious image but an in Christ image. I know I quote this scripture all the time, but we need this revelation. Galatians 2:20,NKJV- I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me. All He has, He has already given. All His promises in Christ are yes, and in Him amen. His life, His nature, His wisdom and provision. Remember, God, our Father wants to be the El Shaddai of our lives. I realize all these things we're talking about to some degree make absolutely no sense. This is why we have to have talks like this, because truth is, a life of faith, as a matter of fact, the things of God are not of the senes. 1 Corinthians 2:14,NKJV- But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. Here's the deal, as long as we allow our senses, emotions, circumstances, or intelligence to determine the realities of our new world, we leave no room for faith. And this is why it's important that we keep reminding ourselves that God didn't give us these new lives in Him just to do our own thing until we go to heaven. We're suppose to be bringing Heaven with us wherever we show up. We've got to stay aware of this, we're made for the supernatural, the impossible. God just might lead you into a battle you can't win, into a situation you see no way out of, without Him. 2 chronicles 20:15,NLKV- Listen, all you of Judah and you inhabitants of Jerusalem, and you, King Jehoshaphat! Thus says the LORD to you: Do not be afraid nor dismayed because of this great multitude, for the battle is not yours, but God's. When a Christian can get to the place where what God says is more real than circumstance and experience, that person's faith will become the dominant force in our lives. The challenge for most of us is that we identity more with our natural world than our spiritual world. But in our new creation, we're made to live out of our new world, while we're still confined to this one. This is why Paul instructs us that we are tolive our lives in a manner consistent with our CONFIDENT BELIEF IN GOD'S PROMISES. Or in the words of Jesus, “According to your faith let it be to you.” Matthew 9:27-30,NKJV- When Jesus departed from there, two blind men followed Him, crying out and saying, “Son of David, have mercy on us!” And when He had come into the house, the blind men came to Him. And Jesus said to them, “Do you believe that I am able to do this?” They said to Him, “Yes, Lord.” Then He touched their eyes, saying, “According to your faith let it be to you.” And their eyes were opened. When we follow the life of Jesus, we've got to understand, He was on a short assignment from the Father. Listen to what He said, “I came down from Heaven to do the will of My Father who sent Me.” Acts 10:28,NKJV- How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him. The actual Greek word that we get oppressed from is a little more in depth than just oppression, the word is tyrannized- cruel, unreasonable, arbitrary use of power. 1 Hebrews 13:8,NKJV- Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever. What people have to realize is that every part of God's new covenant has to be accessed by believing and speaking. Every where He went, when people came to Him for healing, they got healed. There was never a let Me check with the Father, or maybe He's wanting to teach you something, or it's a blessing in disguise, or sometimes God says no. Where are those scriptures? He healed every where He went to establish the covenant He was leaving for His followers. Fulfilling what the prophet Isaiah decreed hundreds of years earlier. Lets go back to what Paul teaches in Galatians, I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me. Is it the same Christ we follow through the scriptures? I can't help but wonder if “according to your faith” means something different today than what Jesus meant when He spoke those words? We walk by faith, (God inspired trust and expectation) not by sight, We live by believing and not by seeing. We live our lives in a manner consistent with our CONFIDENT BELIEF IN GOD'S PROMISES.
Jesus is absolutely expecting us to finish what He started. As His body on the planet, our assignment is to continue all He commanded us. Remember, Peter tells us God has givenus everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of Him, and He has given us His great and precious promises, so that through them we may participate in His divine nature. Everything Jesus did while He was on the planet in a human body was pointing us to what He was about to fulfill at the cross. Here’s a revelation that every Christian has to get settled, The Word of God is the Will of God. Once we get settled on what His will is, then we have to allow it to transform the way we think. After all, “As a man thinks in his heart so is he.” John 6:38,NKJV- For I have come down from heaven, not to do My own will, but the will of Him who sent Me. John 8:28,NKJV, When you lift up the Son of man, then you will know that I am He, and that I do nothing of Myself; but as My Father taught Me. John 9:4,NKJV, I must work the works of Him who sent Me. John 14:10,NKJV- ...The words I speak to you I do not speak on My own authority, but the Father who dwells in Me does the work. Matthew 8:16-17,NLT- That evening many demon-possessed people were brought to Jesus. He cast out the evil spirits with a simple command, and he healed all the sick. This fulfilled the word of the Lord through the prophet Isaiah, who said, “He took our sicknesses and removed our diseases.” Think about it, why would Jesus, emphasize healing the entire time He was on the planet, instruct His first disciples to do the same, then leave us to live a completely different way than He did and not tell us? Exodus 15:26, “I am the Lord who heals you.” So which one is more real? What we see, what we feel, or what He says? Once we make up our minds about what He says, will we stay with it long enough to let the fruit of His word produce is our physical lives. This is how a life of faith comes into manifestation. The thing is, it’s still up to us to actually engage our faith, start speaking to our mountain. Hebrews 4:2,NKJV- For indeed the gospel was preached to us as well as to them; but the word which they heard did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in those who heard it. There has to be a transformation in our thinking in order for us to appropriate the things God has already done for us. To the degree that what God says becomes more of a reality than anything in this natural world. Isaiah says, “Keep your mind stayed in Him.” Practice getting in agreement with God. Practice living more God inside minded. Is it possible that we’ve settled into a place of selective believing based totally on signs of confirmation. In other words, walking by sight, not by faith. This is why the apostle Paul told us, “The same way you received Jesus, live your life in Him” This is why Jesus repeatedly said, “All things are possible to him who believes. Matthew 9:27-30,NKJV- When Jesus departed from there, two blind men followed Him, crying out and saying, “Son of David, have mercy on us!”And when He had come into the house, the blind men came to Him. And Jesus said to them, “Do you believe that I am able to do this?” They said to Him, “Yes, Lord.” Then He touched their eyes, saying, “According to your faith let it be to you.” And their eyes were opened. God wants us at a place where we live everyday of our live with intentional expectations. Trusting in every word He’s said to us. Proverbs 3:5-8,NIV- Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight. Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord and shun evil. This will bring health to your body and nourishment to your bones. And since Jesus lives in Heaven now, He's actually expecting His body here to be just that, His body. Empower by His Holy Spirit. And the only way that happens is by faith. He actually designed and commanded us to live by faith. To finish what He started. As a Christian, at some point we’re going to have to make our mind up as to which part of the word of God is true. When you follow Jesus through the scriptures, which part is true? When He healed everyone that came to Him for healing, is it true? When Jesus said, “The works that I do, you can do also,” is it true? Until we make our mind up which part is true, I’m not sure it’s actually possible to be in faith. James 1, When you come to God, you must come in faith, not doubting. The one who doubts is like waves blown around by the wind. That person should not expect to receive anything from the Lord. Such a person is double-minded and unstable in all they do. Does what we believe have anything to do with our salvation? Then why would we think differently about healing? Here’s something to consider, Is what the prophet Isaiah said concerning Jesus true? Is what Matthew and Peter, inspired by the Holy Spirit wrote true? And if we follow the life of Jesus through the NT, it appears that He took our sickness and disease just as much as He took our sin. Keep in mind, Jesus is the one who told us to follow His example. To be His disciple. To imitate Him. To do the things He did. Matthew 4:23,NKJV- Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the Kingdom, and healing all kinds of sickness and all kinds of disease among the people. Matthew 8:16-17,NKJV- When evening had come, they brought to Him many who were demon-possessed. And He cast out the spirits with a word, and healed all who were sick, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Isaiah the prophet, saying: “He Himself took our infirmities and bore our sicknesses.” Matthew 12:15,NKJV- But when Jesus knew it, He withdrew from there. And great multitudes followed Him, and He healed them all. Matthew 14:14,NKJV- When Jesus went out He saw a great multitude; He was moved with compassion for them and healed their sick. Matthew 15:30,NKJV- Then great multitudes came to Him, having with them the lame, blind, mute, maimed, and many others; and they laid them down at Jesus’ feet, and He healed them. Matthew 19:2,NKJV- And great multitudes followed Him, and He healed them there. If Jesus was here in person, do you think He would heal all the sick that came to Him? Why? God is not a man that He could lie. He actually binds Himself by His own words. Hebrews 13:8,NKJV- Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever. Malachi 3:6,NKJV- I am the Lord, I do not change. He’s not picking and choosing who gets healed and who doesn’t anymore than He’s picking who does and doesn’t get saved. The New Covenant has been settled. Give no place to the devil, give no place to unbelief. John 10:10,NKJV- The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy, I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full. 1 John 3, For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil. Psalm 107 says the He sent His word and healed them. Romans 10:17,MSG- But not everybody is ready for this, ready to see and hear and act. Isaiah asked what we all ask at one time or another: Does anyone care, God? Is anyone listening and believing a word of it? The point is: Before you trust, you have to listen. But unless Christ’s Word is preached, there’s nothing to listen to. Do we put more of an emphasis on an experience or on what God’s word tells us? 2 Corinthians 4:16-18,NKJV- Therefore we do not lose heart. Even though our outward man is perishing, yet the inward man is being renewed day by day. For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory, while we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal.”
By Pastor Brandon Dirmann Scriptures (All NKJV) - Ephesians 6:10-18 - Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. 11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. 13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. 14 Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, 15 and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; 16 above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. 17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; 18 praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints— - Hebrews 11:6 (NKJV) - But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. - Romans 10:17 (NKJV) - So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. - 2 Corinthians 4:13 (NKJV) - And since we have the same spirit of faith, according to what is written, “I believed and therefore I spoke,” we also believe and therefore speak, - Matthew 12:34 (NKJV) - Brood of vipers! How can you, being evil, speak good things? For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. - Joshua 1:8 (NKJV) - This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you[a] shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success. - Ephesians 5:18-20 (NKJV) - And do not be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation; but be filled with the Spirit, 19 speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord, 20 giving thanks always for all things to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, - James 2:26 (NKJV) - For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also. - Hebrews 10:24-25 (NKJV) - And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, 25 not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching. - Mark 2:5 (NKJV) - When Jesus saw their faith, He said to the paralytic, “Son, your sins are forgiven you.” Message Points The shield of faith is to protect you from the fiery darts of the wicked one. These arrows are the words, accusations, and lies of the enemy shot at you to cause your world to become a raging inferno of fear, worry, anxiety, anger, doubt, and self-will. There were two different types of Roman shields Show Shield (Used in parades and ceremonies)Battle Shield (Like a door to fully cover a solider from top to bottom in battle) The shield of faith is a battle shield. It is not for ceremony or show, it is a full covering to protect you from the attack of the enemy. The Roman Shield Thin piece of metal wrapped in layers of animal skin so that it was both light and durableOiled daily so that it was not brittle and would not crack in battle when it was needed the mostSoaked in water so that it was resistant to flaming and exploding arrows shot by the enemyThis is a picture for us of the “Shield Of Faith” which is to be strong and durable, easily used, and soaked in the oil of the Holy Spirit and the water of God’s Word so that it is resistant to the enemies “fiery darts” WHAT IS FAITH? 1.FAITH IS BELIEVING Faith = The Greek word “Pistis” which is a conviction of truth. It is confidence, trust, belief, reliance, and persuasion. From a biblical NT sense, it is a divine persuasion by which the Holy Spirit convinces us of God’s reality as the creator and originator of all things and Jesus as the Messiah through which salvation comes. This conviction and divine persuasion is more than just belief; it is conviction to the point of action. Belief and conviction in Gods reality through the word of God is the foundation of faith and the “Shield of Faith”. 2. FAITH IS SPEAKING Meditate means to mutter under your breath, to chew on God’s Word. It means to “chew the cud” which is a word picture of bringing God’s word back to mind to chew on it. New age meditation is to clear the mind, but Biblical mediation is to fill the mind as one chews on and mutters God’s Word. Meditating on God’s word is how our “Shield of faith” is oiled with the Holy Spirit and soaked in God’s Word to prepare it for battle. 3. FAITH IS DOING Faith is a culmination of BELIEVING, SPEAKING, & LIVING according to God’s Word. This is how we take up the shield of faith. 4. FATIH IS CONNECTING Our shield of faith is strengthened when it is connected to other believers.
Speaker or Performer: Ben Selby Date of Delivery: June 9, 2019 Invincible LoveLove is what shows people that we are Christians.Matthew 22:37-40 NKJVJesus said to him, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.”John 13:34-35 NKJV A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.”John 13:34-35 TPT“So I give you now a new[r] commandment: Love each other just as much as I have loved you. For when you demonstrate the same love I have for you by loving one another, everyone will know that you’re my true followers.”Romans 13:8-10 NKJV Owe no one anything except to love one another, for he who loves another has fulfilled the law. For the commandments, “You shall not commit adultery,” “You shall not murder,” “You shall not steal,” “You shall not bear false witness,” “You shall not covet,” and if there is any other commandment, are all summed up in this saying, namely, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” Love does no harm to a neighbor; therefore love is the fulfillment of the law.Greek Words for love:1. Eros – Passionate, Sensual love. “I love you because you make me feel good.”2. Phileo – Companion Love. “I love you because of the connection we have.”3. Storge – Natural/Family Love. “I love you because we are family.”4. Agape – Unconditional Love. “I love you because love loves.”Agape Love Starts with God and Spreads to Everyone.John 13:21-25 NKJVWhen Jesus had said these things, He was troubled in spirit, and testified and said, “Most assuredly, I say to you, one of you will betray Me.” Then the disciples looked at one another, perplexed about whom He spoke. Now there was leaning on Jesus’ bosom one of His disciples, whom Jesus loved. Simon Peter therefore motioned to him to ask who it was of whom He spoke. Then, leaning back on Jesus’ breast, he said to Him, “Lord, who is it?”John 19:26-27 NKJV When Jesus therefore saw His mother, and the disciple whom He loved standing by, He said to His mother, “Woman, behold your son!” Then He said to the disciple, “Behold your mother!” And from that hour that disciple took her to his own home.John 20:1-8 NKJVNow on the first day of the week Mary Magdalene went to the tomb early, while it was still dark, and saw that the stone had been taken away from the tomb. Then she ran and came to Simon Peter, and to the other disciple, whom Jesus loved, and said to them, “They have taken away the Lord out of the tomb, and we do not know where they have laid Him.”Peter therefore went out, and the other disciple, and were going to the tomb. So they both ran together, and the other disciple outran Peter and came to the tomb first. And he, stooping down and looking in, saw the linen cloths lying there; yet he did not go in. Then Simon Peter came, following him, and went into the tomb; and he saw the linen cloths lying there, and the handkerchief that had been around His head, not lying with the linen cloths, but folded together in a place by itself. Then the other disciple, who came to the tomb first, went in also; and he saw and believed.John 21:17-24 NKJVHe said to him the third time, “Simon, son of Jonah,[d] do you love Me?” Peter was grieved because He said to him the third time, “Do you love Me?” And he said to Him, “Lord, You know all things; You know that I love You.” Jesus said to him, “Feed My sheep. Most assuredly, I say to you, when you were younger, you girded yourself and walked where you wished; but when you are old, you will stretch out your hands, and another will gird you and carry you where you do not wish.” This He spoke, signifying by what death he would glorify God. And when He had spoken this, He said to him, “Follow Me.” Then Peter, turning around, saw the disciple whom Jesus loved following, who also had leaned on His breast at the supper, and said, “Lord, who is the one who betrays You?” Peter, seeing him, said to Jesus, “But Lord, what about this man?” Jesus said to him, “If I will that he remain till I come, what is that to you? You follow Me.” Then this saying went out among the brethren that this disciple would not die. Yet Jesus did not say to him that he would not die, but, “If I will that he remain till I come, what is that to you?” This is the disciple who testifies of these things, and wrote these things; and we know that his testimony is true.1. We, Individually, Receive Agape Love from God.1 John 4:18-19 NKJVThere is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love. We love Him because He first loved us.2. We Reciprocate Agape Love Back to God.3. An Overflow of Agape Love Forms, then Infiltrates Everything and Everyone Around Us (Also known as “loving our neighbor.”).1 John 4:20-21 NKJV If someone says, “I love God,” and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen, how can he love God whom he has not seen? And this commandment we have from Him: that he who loves God must love his brother also.4. Paul Describes it as us Owing Agape Love.Romans 13:8-10 NKJV Owe no one anything except to love one another, for he who loves another has fulfilled the law.Love Looks Like Something.1 Corinthians 13:4-8 NKJVLove suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, [c]thinks no evil; does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails.People who are full of God’s love:1. Are Secure2. Bear the Fruit of the Spirit3. Serve others4. Honor others5. Do not become offended or controlled by how other people treat them. 6. Want everyone to be blessed.7. Truly want to be the best they can be.8. They treat the “Least of these” the same way they would Jesus.9. Are full of hope and faith, not fear. They believe the best.10.
