Know when to let go."There's...a right time...to hold on and another to let go." Ecc 3:1, 6 MSGPersistence, determination, commitment, and recognizing the "right time...to hold on" are all commendable qualities, whether it's setting aside time to pray and read every day, eating dinner with your family, finding a better job, or losing weight, etc. But it's equally important to recognize the "right time...to let go" of self-generated urgency and things that are stopping you from living "life in all its fullness" (Jn 10:10 NCV).  The Bible tells us to "lay aside every weight" (Heb 12:1 NKJV). Not sure how to start? One teacher offers this suggestion: "Go to the hardware store and buy a flat patio stone that fits into your briefcase or purse. Then take a marker and write on the stone all the fears and prerequisites that are stopping you from enjoying life. Carry it with you wherever you go…eating, working, watching TV, showering, sleeping. Feel how heavy it is? It's hard to get anything done when your muscles are working overtime carrying all that extra weight. At the end of the second day (if you last that long!), sit down with your stone, review the list, and make a conscious decision to let go of the worries and burdens that are sapping your energy. Then go outside and set the rock down beside your front door. See how much lighter you feel? How much easier it is to get things done? Before you leave home every day, take a second to look at your stone...then turn around and deliberately walk away." That's what it means to "give your burdens to the Lord, and he will take care of you" (Ps 55:22 NLT).Know when to let go "Lay aside every weight."Share This DevotionalSend us a textSupport the showChanging Lives | Building Strong Family | Impacting Our Community For Jesus Christ!

I do these things for my servants, the people of Jacob, and for my chosen people!" Pastor Femi stressed that God's guidance is key to unlocking treasures, wealth, and fulfilling His divine purpose. He further referenced Isaiah 45:2-3 (MSG): "I'll go ahead of you, clearing and paving the road. I'll break down bronze city gates, smash padlocks, kick down barred entrances. I will lead you to buried treasures, secret caches of valuables—confirmations that it is, in fact, I, God, the God of Israel, who calls you by your name!" Pastor Femi reminded the congregation: "Life deals with those who will not learn to be led, but those who learn to be led will be richly and super-abundantly blessed!" #BeLedByGod #TreasuresUnlocked #GloriousDestiny #GodsGuidance #LifeOfAbundance

Eric Rubenstein is the Managing Partner at New Climate Ventures (NCV). NCV launched in October 2021, holistically tackling climate change by investing in innovative early-stage startups that target carbon removal, reduction, and avoidance ecosystems. NCV has invested in companies across climate tech, recycling, alternative materials, food tech, and energy transition, among other emissions-avoiding technologies Before founding NCV, Eric held roles at Citigroup and Louis Dreyfus in their respective commodities and energy trading divisions. In this episode, we discuss: ●     Why New Climate Ventures decided to invest in early-stage start-ups ●     The different areas they look at when deciding what companies to invest in ●     The importance of the founder and leadership of a start-up Key Takeaways: ●     What's Your Life Thesis? Most Venture Capital (VC) firms have a thesis, which means a guiding framework or set of principles that defines the types of investments the firm will make, and outlines the firm's core beliefs. If you were to create a thesis to identify and evaluate where you spend your time and energy, what would it be? Take a moment to write it out, and then check where you are against your thesis. Are there any shifts you want to make with how you spend your time and energy? ●     Taking a Page Out of the VC Playbook: Three of the filters that New Climate Ventures uses when evaluating potential start-ups to invest in are, 1) alignment with their purpose of carbon reduction, 2) potential for strong financial returns, and 3) New Climate Venture's ability to add value to the start-up beyond just money. These same filters work wonders when evaluating your next career move. First, does the work align with your purpose? Second, does it offer significant growth and return for you, both financially and personally? Finally, are there ways you are excited to contribute and show up beyond the job description? Remember, where you spend your career energy is a huge investment in the future you're helping to create. ●     What Stories Are You Amplifying? The stories we focus our attention on grow. They take up time and space as they're passed from one person to another—entering rooms, heads, and hearts. The next time you share a story, consider if it's a story you want to take up more space. Consider shedding light on the things you want more of. Consider making “good-finding” a habit, where you go out of your way to applaud what someone is doing and tell them to keep up the good work. It's amazing the impact positive reinforcement has, not just to the person we're patting on the back, but in our own brains when we use our attention to amplify the things we love. In Matthew Chapter 24, the Gospel writer records JESUS teaching His disciples about the global conditions before His 2nd Coming. There, JESUS tells them (and us), that before His Great Return, “There will be more and more evil in the world…” v12 (NCV). This week's school shooting in Winder, Georgia, is but one example of the growth of “more and more evil in our world”. How are we as followers of JESUS, called to respond to this rapid intensification of evil all around us? GOD inspired the Apostle Paul to write down instructions for how we are to engage this “evil world” in SPIRITUAL WARFARE. In Ephesians chapter 6 Paul writes “Pray in the Spirit at all times…” v18 (NLT2). Our GOD has not abandoned us to this evil, but has equipped us to be strong in this battle. Prayer is our most prominent and powerful weapon in this fight. It empowers every other weapon in our God-given arsenal. Learning to “PRAY IN THE SPIRIT” is critical for us as we “stand against the schemes of the devil.” (Ephesians 6:11). Last week we turned to the incredible book of Revelation to learn from the Apostle John how to “PRAY IN THE SPIRIT”. This week we'll study from that great Chapter 8 of the book of Romans. I'm praying for you watch this message, as we grow together is our capacity to “PRAY IN THE SPIRIT”! Pastor Joe Still

I pray your celebration of being blessed to live in a nation filled with so many freedoms was filled with joy this Fourth of July. Our national freedom is a remarkable thing to be deeply treasured! So too, is our “Freedom in Christ”! Luke 22 records several discussions Jesus had with His disciples. In verse 35, we read Jesus asking them an interesting question. He told them to think back to the times He sent them out to towns and villages to proclaim the Good News, and He asked them, “Did you lack anything?” to which they replied “No!” The Apostle Paul opens his letter to Christ-followers in Ephesus with these words in Ephesians 1:3 “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing…” In Acts 1:8, just before ascending back to Heaven, Jesus tells His followers, “You will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses...” Not only do we have “Freedom in Christ”, but along with that “Freedom”, He gave us “Power” by putting His SPIRIT, the HOLY SPIRIT, in us! While the HOLY SPIRIT plays many roles in our lives, according to JESUS the primary role of the Holy Spirit is to witness to Christ and to equip us, the church, to witness for Christ, so “that in everything HE might have preeminence” (see Colossians 1:18). In fact, when we came to put our trust in JESUS, in that moment we were given, “everything we need to live and to serve God” (2 Peter 1:3 NCV). In this message, we'll explore the great debate surrounding “the Baptism in the HOLY SPIRIT”; growing more confident that we already have all we need in JESUS. Pastor Joe Still

When the Greek or Hebrew has a prepositional phrase, so will the English…The goal of this translational theory is formal correspondence as much as possible.”[2] Ron Rhodes: “Formal equivalence translations can also be trusted not to mix too much commentary in with the text derived from the original Hebrew and Greek manuscripts. To clarify, while all translation entails some interpretation, formal equivalence translations keep to a minimum in intermingling interpretive additives into the text.  As one scholar put it, ‘An essentially literal translation operates on the premise that a translator is a steward of what someone else has written, not an editor and exegete who needs to explain or correct what someone else has written.'”[3] Dynamic equivalence translation philosophy Ron Rhodes: “Dynamic equivalence translations generally use shorter words, shorter sentences, and shorter paragraphs. They use easy vocabulary and use simple substitutes for theological and cultural terminology.  They often convert culturally dependent figures of speech into easy, direct statements.  They seek to avoid ambiguity as well as biblical jargon in favor of a natural English style. Translators concentrate on transferring meaning rather than mere words from one language to another.”[4] Formal vs. dynamic comparison Formal Equivalence Dynamic Equivalence Formal Correspondence Functional Equivalence Word for Word Thought for Thought Literal Readable Transparent to Originals Replicates Experience Transfer Interpretation Interpretation Built In Accurate Easy to Understand Formal equivalence Bibles ESV: English Standard Version NASB: New American Standard Bible LSB: Legacy Standard Bible NRSV: New Revised Standard Version HCSB: Holman Christian Standard Bible Gender Accuracy[5] “Man” used to mean “men and women” “Men” used to mean “men and women” “he” used to mean “he or she” Translations are changing with the changes in the English language so that female readers recognize the relevance of scripture to them See Eph 4:28; Mat 11:15; etc. Combatting bias To combat bias, look at translations from different thought camps. Translations of the New Testament depend on the Greek critical text known as the Nestle Aland 28th edition (NA28). Translations of the Old Testament depend on the Leningrad Codex, which is printed in the Biblia Hebraica Stuttgartensia (BHS) and the partially complete Biblia Hebraica Quinta (BHQ). In addition, translators of the Old Testament are expected to look through the footnotes and commentary in these resources to judge readings from other sources. Over generations, textual critics have developed strategies and computer tools to more closely approximate the original text. As a result, newer critical texts contain reconstructions of an older stage of the text. Translation is the art of rendering a source text into a receptor language accurately. Formal equivalence translations focus on transparency to the source text and a minimum of added interpretation. Dynamic equivalence translations focus on readability in the receptor language. They seek clarity over ambiguity. Formal equivalence translations are safer, because they leave it up to the reader to figure out what a text means. However, they can contain awkward English and be difficult to read. Gender accuracy refers to the translation practice of including the feminine when a hypothetical singular masculine pronoun can refer to either sex or when masculine plurals include both genders. Bias is intrinsic to translation, especially with reference to doctrines that are widely held by committee members. The best way to expose and combat bias is to check translations from different thought camps. Although evangelical translations are better known, checking Jewish, mainline, Catholic, and unitarian translations provides a helpful corrective. [1] Gordon D. Do you tend to be Mary or Martha? “Now as they went on their way, Jesus entered a village. And a woman named Martha welcomed him into her house. And she had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord's feet and listened to his teaching. But Martha was distracted with much serving. And she went up to him and said, “Lord, do you not care that my sister has left me to serve alone? Tell her then to help me.” But the Lord answered her, “Martha, Martha, you are anxious and troubled about many things, but one thing is necessary. Mary has chosen the good portion, which will not be taken away from her.” Luke 10:38-42 Mary lived a Christ centered life by worshipping Jesus. 1. Be still: Martha was moving...Mary was still. 2. Be Close... Martha was Jesus adjacent...Mary was Jesus present. 3. Be Humble: Martha bowed up...Mary bowed down. 4. Be Receptive: Martha was doing and demanding...Mary was listening and receiving. 5. Be Teachable: Martha was troubled...Mary was teachable. This is the Christ centered life - A life in which Jesus is the One Thing Necessary. - “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal.” Matthew 6:19 - “The world and everything that people want in it are passing away, but the person who does what God wants lives forever.” 1 John 2:17 (NCV). - “I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand.” John 10:28.

Concurrent with his time at Meraki, Josh earned his MBA from The Wharton School as a double major in Business Analytics and Joint Marketing and Operations Management. In 2020, the pandemic enabled remote work and Josh & Kass knew they would go straight to the Beaches of Jax, FL – originally their first Navy duty station and where they got engaged, now a new homebase for them and their four kids. They executed in rapid succession four deals, two syndicated, and bid farewell to their W-2's to fully focus on their business and family. As of 2023, NCV collectively has $60MM under management and their hospitality brand, Nomad Hospitality, has almost 100 listings. Josh loves the Jax communities and every aspect of their businesses, from underwriting deals, working with investors, overseeing renovations, implementing software systems, and of course delivering 5-star experiences. Get in Touch with JoshWebsite: https://www.nomadcapitalventures.com/ Property Management Website: https://www.nomadhospitality.co/Realty Website: https://www.nomadjax.com/ LinkedIn: Josh KristoffTo Connect With UsPlease visit our website www.bonavestcapital.com and click here to leave a rating and written review!

“I loved you as the Father loved me. Now remain in my love. I have obeyed my Father's commands, and I remain in his love. In the same way, if you obey my commands, you will remain in my love. I have told you these things so that you can have the same joy I have and so that your joy will be the fullest possible joy. This is my command: love each other as I have loved you. The greatest love a person can show is to die for his friends. You are my friends if you do what I command you.” – John 15:9-14 NCV

There is a common phrase in the new testament: "but now." If there is a "now," there was a "then." There is a before Jesus (then), and there is after Jesus (now). So, this Christmas, we are going to look at some of things that changed from then to now when Jesus came. Today, Pastor Jamie Nunnally shares how Christmas brought clarity.Hebrews 1:1-2 NCV "In the past God spoke to our ancestors through the prophets many times and in many different ways. But now in these last days God has spoken to us through his Son..." One of the reasons Jesus was born, was to provide clarity to humanity regarding who God is.Jesus is God. But every time He made this claim, the Jews got really mad.John 10:30-33 NLTHow does Christmas bring clarity?1) Jesus shows us what God is like.John 14:8-9Jesus is the most recent and most accurate representation of who God is. 2) Jesus revealed the Father's will.John 6:38God's perfect will was perfectly expressed through God's perfect Son.If you want to know what God desires, look at what Jesus did. 3) Jesus revealed the Father's heart. You can't fully comprehend what someone has done until you understand why they did it.Matthew 9:35-36 "... When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them because they were confused and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd."John 3:17 "For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him."Psalm 103:7 "He made known His ways to Moses, His acts to the children of Israel."Acts 10:38 – "God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power. He went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him."We won't understand the Father's will until we understand the Father's heart - and Jesus shows us the Father's heart. 4) Jesus provided access to the Father.a. Jesus is our gate.John 14:6 "Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." b. Jesus is our guide.Luke 16:16 "Until John the Baptist, the law of Moses and the messages of the prophets were your guides. But now the Good News of the Kingdom of God is preached, and everyone is eager to get in." 5. Jesus fulfilled the job description of the Messiah. In Luke 4:16-21, Jesus read the messiah's job description from Isaiah 61:1-2.Jesus stops short of "and the day of vengeance of our God." Why? Because we are now in a window of grace to respond to Jesus. Are you looking to Jesus for clarity about who God is?
