Here's both parts, with the 1st half starting super chill and sort of staying at more of an urban tempo and under 110bpm the whole time. Lot's of 90's throwback hip hop & rn'b, some 80's retro and a bunch of various other grooves, blends, reworks and eclectic goodness and then the 2nd half starts at mid tempo amapiano / kaytranada vibes, building to house, then closing out with throwback hip hop. I think I've also been a frustrated musical artist of some kind: I wanted to engineer and produce and have trained on various DAWs. My musicianship has been limited though - I can't really sing and I'm a rudimentary keyboard player - but I can write and originally trained as a journalist after leaving school.  So I've been putting whatever writing skills I may possess to the test by writing lyrics and using them as prompts for AI music with some fascinating results. In fact I've spent the past month or so working on songs. At the time of writing I have an album of material completed, with the first track - a single - scheduled for release on 29th August on all the major platforms including Spotify and Apple Music. Another single is scheduled to come out about a month later with the album pencilled for release on Friday 10th October. One of the surprises for me was the style of music I've ended up creating - not my usual dance music at all. The album does contain tracks that will get you moving or set your toes tapping, but there's an equal number of singer/songwriter tracks that I hope are more contemplative. The whole song writing process was incredibly cathartic, in fact I'd go so far as to say, it was like therapy.  I don't have my artist page live on Spotify yet, but as soon as it is, and there's a pre-release link, I will include it here. It's a scary thing sharing in song all your previously private thoughts and experiences, so please don't be too harsh on me. And as importantly, why not have a go yourself.  I hope you enjoy it. Get ready for Part 2 of my set from The Cuff on June 29th at Seattle Pride. This is the back half of my closing set on Sunday night with the most wonderful crowd a DJ could ask for. I pulled out my remix of "Brave" by Sara Bareilles, which I haven't played in 8 years. And I took a bit of a risk by ending the night with the full 1998 Extended Pride Remix by Junior Vasquez of Cyndi Lauper's "True Colors" - this remix has meant so much to me over the years, but I've never played it live. With Cyndi's farewell tour happening this summer, it felt like the right moment. The remix starts out high energy before slowing down tempo and dropping into the original song, before building back up again to its crazed crescendo... it gives folks that romantic moment at the end of the night to slow dance and reflect on what Pride might mean to them. It's a moment that always resonated powerfully with me when I heard this track on many NYC Pride weekends and I wanted to share this moment - a part of Junior's legacy (the set also features his "Rocketman" Arena anthem) - with a new generation.  And then, of course, the set ends with the ending track of all ending tracks... as the last dance of the night. Next up... my full set from Purgatory at Gifford House in Provincetown on July 3rd!
