Podcast Show Notes Summary Episode: Three Years into HR Consulting with Ambra Parisi In this episode, Sarah Hamilton-Gill catches up with Ambra Parisi, three years after Ambra launched her HR consultancy business following a 15-year corporate HR career. Ambra shares her honest reflections on moving from an HR Director role into consultancy after redundancy in 2022. Rather than being driven purely by financial goals, Ambra explains that her decision came from a desire to return to the heart of HR: adding real value to businesses and supporting leaders with practical, people-focused solutions. She talks openly about the first year in business being a testing period, where she had to build confidence, develop commercial skills, understand her market, and learn how to position her services beyond her technical HR expertise. Ambra now works with small and medium-sized businesses, particularly in the healthcare, dentistry and retail sectors. Her consultancy offers bespoke HR support, including compliance, operational HR, people development and practical guidance for business owners who need senior HR expertise without adding to their permanent headcount. A key theme of the conversation is clarity. Ambra explains how she has shaped her 2026 strategy around three clear business pillars. Sarah and Ambra also discuss the importance of word-of-mouth referrals, listening to client feedback, adapting your services, and staying committed during the early stages of consultancy when the path can feel uncertain. This episode is a valuable listen for HR professionals considering the leap into consulting, as well as existing consultants who are refining their niche, services and business model. Key Takeaways Ambra's journey shows that the first year of consultancy is often about testing, learning and building business confidence. Technical HR expertise is important, but consultants also need commercial awareness, positioning, marketing and relationship-building skills. Clarity around your services and ideal client base makes it easier to attract the right opportunities. Word-of-mouth referrals remain one of the most powerful routes to new business. A strong LinkedIn profile can help consultants showcase their credibility, services and client outcomes. About Ambra Parisi Ambra Parisi is an HR consultant supporting small and medium-sized businesses with practical, bespoke HR services. With a 15-year background in corporate HR, she now works with clients across sectors including healthcare, dentistry and retail, helping business owners strengthen compliance, develop their people and build more effective teams. Cinzia Cognetti è pugliese e vive a Bari.

Peter appeals to Jesus' resurrection at the beginning of the letter (1:3). How confident are you that Jesus rose from the grave? What are some reasons you believe this?2. For Peter, the resurrection means He will return and finish what He started (1:5). Why does the resurrection prove He will return? How confident are you that Jesus will return? What are some reasons you believe this?3. We live between these two key events (resurrection and return) in what many have called the “already/not yet.” Is this a new concept for you? How would you summarize what the already/not yet means?4. What are some of the benefits of Christ's resurrection that we can experience now (for example, see 1:3, 2:9-10, and 2:24)? What benefit stands out to you in your life right now? Explain.5. What are some of the benefits of Christ's resurrection that we won't fully experience until His return? Why is “life in the not yet” often challenging for us? What challenges are you currently experiencing because of the not yet?6. Do you tend to emphasize the already or the not yet? Explain.7. We discussed how the already/not yet mindset can change how we view everything: politics, marriage, church, blessings, and salvation. Which of these areas do you need to develop more of the already/not yet perspective? Explain. Pray for the Unreached: The Saek in Thailand The Saek are a small Tai-speaking people living in northeastern Thailand and parts of Laos. Though officially Buddhist, daily life is strongly shaped by animistic beliefs and fear of spirits. Most live in rural villages, farming rice and maintaining close-knit family communities. The Importance of God's Word at the Beginning of Our Journey The Importance of God's Word Throughout Our Journey The Importance of God's Word for the End of Our JourneyHome Church Questions1. 1 Peter 1:22-2:3 explores the importance of God's Word for our journey as exiles and sojourners. What are some similarities between God's Word and a trail map? 2. Look through the passage and identify the terms and phrases Peter uses to describe God's Word and the message of the Bible. How would you summarize the core message of the Bible (the Gospel)? 3. In 1:23, he says we are born again through the Word of God. In what way was the Word of God involved in your conversion? Why is the Word of God necessary as we consider reaching other people with the Gospel? 4. In our passage, “loving one another” and “valuing God's Word” are closely related. What are some ways they are related according to this passage? Do you think of God's Word primarily in the context of “the individual and God's Word” or do you think of it in the context of “God's people and God's Word”? What should this look like? 5. Have you ever longed for the pure spiritual/rational/logical milk of God's Word (2:2)? Do you long for it now? If not, what are some steps you can take to develop a hunger for God's Word? 6. What are the consequences of seeking to experience God apart from His Word? What are the consequences of seeking to experience the Bible without experiencing God? Which of these extremes do you gravitate toward? Explain why. 7. Peter references Isaiah 40 and encourages his readers that “the Word of the Lord remains forever” (1:24-25). We can be confident that God will finish what He started. In what area of your life do you need to be encouraged right now that God's Word endures forever, and He will finish what He has started? Pray for the Unreached: The Abai Sungai in Malaysia The Abai Sungai are a tiny Muslim fishing community in Sabah, Malaysia, with nearly all 1,600 people living in a single village. Their faith blends Islamic practice with fear of the evil eye and local animistic beliefs. With no Scripture, no audio resources, and no known believers, they remain one of the most spiritually isolated peoples in Southeast Asia. Pray for God to break through for spiritual openness in their village, and for Christ–followers to come and patiently share the hope and life found in Jesus.FinancesWeekly Budget 34,615Giving For 01/11 25,440Giving For 01/18 36,222YTD Budget 1,003,846Giving 956,770 OVER/(UNDER) (47,076) Fellowship Night of WorshipEach year at our Night of Worship, we gather in a circle with the band on the floor alongside the congregation, creating an intimate and meaningful space to begin the year together.

“Horrifying stuff that we desperately need to know.” — Scott Ostler, sports columnist, San Francisco ChronicleBacked by hundreds of interviews and thousands of pages of USA Swimming files subpoenaed by the FBI, Irvin Muchnick uncovers a generation of cover-ups involving some of the sport's biggest namesThe hundreds of millions who watch the thrilling spectacle of the Olympics are unaware of the extent to which their entertainment is undergirded by the systematic abuse by coaches of the underage athletes they develop. Many flag-waving fans gained some sense of the problem from the USA Gymnastics scandals, but for generations, the crimes in swimming have caused a much wider tsunami of pain and trauma around the world.Backed by thousands of pages of FBI files and the author's independent investigations, Underwater is the first comprehensive account of this ongoing and unacceptable phenomenon. Irvin Muchnick, a well-known chronicler of the dark side of sports, pulls together shocking stories involving some of the most iconic coaches in swimming history and some of the sport's most celebrated programs — including Michael Phelps's. The book lays the blame not just at the feet of individual villains but also at a system that casually commodifies and sexualizes the vulnerable and non-consenting, prioritizing the pursuit of athletic scholarships, Olympic medals, glory, and riches.Underwater arrives just as a congressional commission has called for the first fundamental changes in the U.S. youth sports system in half a century. In the author's estimation, this reform is the only real way to protect kids from the predation of the money-first stewards of professionalized sports.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/the-opperman-report--1198501/support.

Here is wisdom for the local church in every generation and in every place. Let no one say that scripture is out of date. Calvin, when dedicating his commentary to the Duke of Somerset in 1556 called this letter"highly relevant to our times". All these years later, we can make the same claim. What are some of the benefits we can experience today because of Jesus' resurrection? 5. In Eph 1:18-23 Paul talks about how we can experience resurrection power today. How have you experienced resurrection power in your life? Why is it important that we think and talk about this future hope we have in Christ?7. DA Carson said, “I am not suffering from anything that a good, general resurrection can't fix.” What are you looking most forward to being “fixed” by our future resurrection in Christ?8. Is it helpful to you to think about the resurrection of the past, present, and future? Explain.
