This week a spirit named Luci told us to go back down to funky town to find some soul survivors! That's right funky junkies; we're talkin' about the hornier side of funk. The dirty, gritty soul that's juicy and sublime because it's got a little garage rock and swampy blues backbone mixed in with the R&B. This is sweat-drippin', chitlin' circuit-inspired rhythm & blues for your soul! Ya dig? What is it that we do here at InObscuria? We exhume obscure Rock n' Punk n' Metal in one of 3 categories: the Lost, the Forgotten, or the Should Have Beens. In this episode, we take a listen to all 3, as we move n' groove our way through funk-infused dirty soul rock. Listen in and let your bodies move and booties groove.Songs this week include:The Detroit Cobras – “Hey Sailor” from Life, Love And Leaving (2001)The Heavy Souls – “She Said” from The Abyss (2024)The Soft White Sixties – “Don't Lie To Me” from Get Right. (2013)Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings – “Genuine Pt. 1” from Soul Time! (2011)Ashley Clark & Matthew Simon Clark – “Hold On” from Dirty Soul Rock (2019)Daddy Long Legs – “Street Sermon” from Street Sermons (2023)Charles Bradley – “Stay Away” from Black Velvet (2018) Please subscribe everywhere that you listen to podcasts!Visit us: https://inobscuria.com/https://www.facebook.com/InObscuriahttps://x.com/inobscuriahttps://www.instagram.com/inobscuria/Buy cool stuff with our logo on it!: https://www.redbubble.com/people/InObscuria?asc=uIf you'd like to check out Kevin's band THE SWEAR, take a listen on all streaming services or pick up a digital copy of their latest release here: https://theswear.bandcamp.com/If you want to hear Robert and Kevin's band from the late 90s – early 00s BIG JACK PNEUMATIC, check it out here: https://bigjackpnuematic.bandcamp.com/Check out Robert's amazing fire sculptures and metal workings here: http://flamewerx.com/
Salena and Rando recap an up and down week for the Kentucky Wildcats. The men lose a tough one against UGA but bounce back with another Win against a ranked opponent. Have we officially seen the Jaxson Robinson come out party? Has Ansley found his 3-point stroke again? Can Amari give us consistent double-double production? AND What the hell is going on in Athens? Some hometown Georgia cookin' might be worth looking in to. Sponsored by: State Line Co (statelineco.shop) X: @StateLineCoPromo Code: BleedBlue for 10% off purchase

Yes, indeed family, another summer is out of the door. Man, we weren't ready. Oh well, as summer has made its way out of the door, and as fall sets in, we don't stop the body rocking around here in the Core Studio. We do our best to bring the best jams to you, and you know we hit you with them right on time. With that said, onward with the show. In this episode, we give you some new jams to ride to, as producer extraordinaire Terrace Martin teams up with the wonderful Alex Isley for their rendition of a Sade classic for 2023, the legendary Melba Moore returns with her latest, paying homage to her legendary friends Ashford & Simpson, the latest from Augusta, Ga's own Major Sound, plus the fantastic Michon Young teams up with the one, and only, Frank McComb , as they pay homage to the legendary Gladys Knight & The Pips. For sure, we don't forget to include the classics, with some great doses of Erykah Badu, Woods Empire, Earth, Wind & Fire, Groove Collective, The Ohio Players, The Dazz Band, and the list goes on and on. Much love to the taste-makers who continue to send us great jams of these wonderful artists, whether they're new, or they're our legends, we thank you immensely. Its August and Daft Punk (w/ Jawny Badluck) are bringing the fire! Its just hot and there's no mistaking that the heat you can find on the Halshack is just as hot as the heat outside! We're making some new nostalgic memories in the summer heat here in the Rap Shack! This show is half submissions and half regular artists on my show. It worked out to have room to focus on some new releases and past hits from the show! Check out Migs718 swimming with the "Sharks" on repeat from Rap Shack 6 while Ladibree is "Groovin" to new tunes as she was "Chosen" to bring back old school female lead hip-hop in a big way! Just finished up Reverbnation campaign #7 and this group of last finalists surely knows how to blister the airwaves with some melting hot rap and hip hop! 1300 submissions this campaign with 55 being chosen across all genres! Well done to the top 4% for catching my ear to make my show! We love our hip hop here at the shack! We even love our world beats too as we have Mt. Boi and Dwon to bring you some culture from the faraway land of Africa. New rap and hip-hop styles kick off the show with a freakin' brilliant new collab from alternative pop rock act Sam Tinnesz (Legends are Made, Play with Fire) delved into the land of an urban pop/hip-hop and busted out a hell of a track called "Enemy". Be sure to catch newcomer Philly? with his multi diverse style branch into rap with fire to tear up the "Billboard" charts if it were known! Watch out for new comers (2 of Me) while they show you their skills aren't "Counterfeit"! Great song! Wrap up the last segment with some older jam styles mixed with current vibes from Jawny Badluck and very special guest "DAFT PUNK" with a remix of their tune "Sumthin' About Us"! Listen to the show as it slithers like a "Snake" and weaves its way through musical bliss of various rap styles of the years. Once you hear our rap anthems you will never want to leave the Rap Shack, you will always "Be Mine" like Tony Domingo!...lolFind all Rap shows and everything Halshack at my website! I have a new one - - just started in the last few months - - but it has nothing to do with Celtic Music. It deals with the history of California's highways; you can find it at caroutebyroute.org . I've been careful to make sure any music I'm using is public domain (and I really only use it for opening and closing). For now, I've been using https://freemusicarchive.org/home which allows you to search by license type. Hopefully, I'll get someone to write us a theme they will let us use. As you know, when starting out (and having no advertising), you have to watch your pennies." Phyu LuLu emailed a photo a couple years ago: "Hello Mark! I'm having a perfect Tuesday morning all thanks to you! (It's 10:30 here!) I was just thinking how amazing you are to let us enjoy these beautiful tunes by creating this beautiful channel! I'm now studying for my upcoming job interview which will be in next 3 hours. Actually, I'm not sure if I want the job. I'm also happy with my current one. I've been facing so many dilemmas these days. Anyway, one thing I'm sure is that I‘m so deeply in love with celtic and irish music! I might share my poorly sung celtic songs with you some day! Yours is my favorite channel on apple podcast and the safe place whenever I got tired of those medical podcasts! ^_^ Grai chyeju kaba sai yaw! Stay safe and all the best! cheers! Phyu Phyu, From Kachin, Myanmar (the other side of the world)" Cheryl Arvio emailed: "Mark, do you ever go to Milwaukee Irish Fest? My partner and I go every year, it's really a grand time! Four days of near - continuous music on something like a dozen stages. Everything from local traditional bands to nationally known Celtic rock acts like Scythian and the Elders. There's also a cultural village, set and ceili dance pavilion, theater, Irish language lessons, even currach boat races and Irish dogs. I think it would be a great way for you to make contacts for getting new music, and maybe find a way to promote the podcast as well. It's more of a trek for you than it is for us in Chicago, but it's such a major event, I feel someone like you, with your appreciation for the music and the culture, should experience it! https://irishfest.com/Milwaukee - Irish - Fest Slan, Cheryl
It's time to pay our respect to the women who believe in “strength in numbers”. It's GIRL GROUP DIVAS month(s)! For the next couple weeks on Diva Dailies, Angie (@poetrysoul3) and Steffi (@inn_mho) will be deep diving into girl group albums and eras. To kick things off, we're talking about “CrazySexyCool” (1994) by the biggest selling American girl group of all time: TLC. (Also, Angie's favorite girl group of all time). Because this album and era are so iconic, we will be breaking down our CrazySexyCool deep dive into two. In part 1, we review and discuss EVERY SINGLE TRACK (yes, including the interludes). We then end our conversation sharing our Top 3 favorite songs from the album, 1 song we'd cut, and the underrated gem. Again, this is just part 1 of the conversation! Tune in next week for part 2 when we talk about the CrazySexyCool era.Album Info: CrazySexyCool is the second studio album by American girl group TLC. It was released on November 15, 1994, by LaFace and Arista Records. The album saw the group reunite with producers Dallas Austin, Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds and Jermaine Dupri as well as new collaborators Organized Noize and Chucky Thompson, and also featured contributions from Sean "Puffy" Combs who helped with the notable hip hop soul sound. CrazySexyCool featured hip hop beats, funk, deep grooves, propulsive rhythms and smooth production. The album's lyrical content was seen as a departure from the group's debut and was seen as a coming-of-age project which explored themes such as sexuality, romanticism, inexperience, and youthful optimism.*Email us for show notes: divadailiespod@gmail.com*Twitter & Instagram: @divadailiespod*YouTube: Diva Dailies PodcastSTEFFI'S SOCIAL MEDIA:*Twitter & Instagram: @inn_mho*YouTube: innmyhumbleopinionANGIE'S SOCIAL MEDIA:*Twitter: @poetrysoul3*YouTube: Sleepy Nerd ProductionsTIME STAMPS:- Housekeeping (01:13)- Upcoming Episodes: Girl Group Divas (03:08)- Oscar & Razzie Moment of the Week (05:40)- Opening Discussions: Our Listening Experience & First Impressions (22:10)- Intro-lude (31:30)- Creep (33:13)- Kick Your Game (37:50)- Diggin' On You (44:04)- Case of the Fake People (47:13)- CrazySexyCool-Interlude (51:25)- Red Light Special (52:15)- Waterfalls (56:43)- Intermission-lude (60:51)- Let's Do It Again (60:18)- If I Was Your Girlfriend (64:01)- Sexy-Interlude (69:09)- Take Our Time (70:25)- Can I Get A Witness-Interlude (73:33)- Switch (78:48)- Sumthin' Wicked This Way Comes (80:00)- Top 3 Songs, 1 Song to Cut, & Underrated Gem (82:53)
Can we get a witness??? Testify! This week our rock n' roll grave robbers witness the rise of sumthin' funky! This time our journey through funky town takes sharp left and right turns as we get funk rock from bands that may not necessarily be associated with funk. Sometimes bands just get the urge to write songs that makes your body move and your booty groove. That's why we are asking the question, “Wah Da Funk???”What is it that we do here at InObscuria? We exhume obscure Rock n' Punk n' Metal in one of 3 categories: the Lost, the Forgotten, or the Should Have Beens. In this episode we take a listen to all 3, as we move n' groove our way through funk-infused rock n' roll from bands that don't typically play in the sphere of funkitude. Songs this week include:Jason Becker – “We Are One” from Triumphant Hearts (2018)I Mother Earth – “Like A Girl” from Scenery And Fish (1996)Steve Marriott – “Late Night Lady” from MARRIOTT (1976)The Organization – “Brainstorm” from The Organization (1993)The BusBoys – “D Day” from Minimum Wage Rock & Roll (1980)Petra – “Holy Ghost Power” from Come And Join Us (1977)fIREHOSE – “It Matters” from Ragin', Full-On (1986)LoveWar – “Keep Your Hands Off My Stuff” from Soak Your Brain (1993)Please subscribe everywhere that you listen to podcasts!Visit us: https://inobscuria.com/https://www.facebook.com/InObscuriahttps://twitter.com/inobscuriahttps://www.instagram.com/inobscuria/Buy cool stuff with our logo on it!: https://www.redbubble.com/people/InObscuria?asc=uIf you'd like to check out Kevin's band THE SWEAR, take a listen on all streaming services or pick up a digital copy of their latest release here: https://theswear.bandcamp.com/If you want to hear Robert and Kevin's band from the late 90s – early 00s BIG JACK PNEUMATIC, check it out here: https://bigjackpnuematic.bandcamp.com/Check out Robert's amazing fire sculptures and metal workings here: http://flamewerx.com/
