Hosts Tim Rosenberger -- a 25 Years Later film writer, a blogger, and YouTuber -- and Rosalie Lewis, a writer for FThisMovie.com, discuss two feel-good films from actor and singer Bing Crosby and director Leo McCarey: Going My Way (1944) and The Bells of St. Mary's (1945). Both feature Crosby in the lead as young, optimistic Father Chuck O'Malley. These two standalone films are all about light, feel-good moments sprinkled with songs here and there. Going My Way was released through Shout Factory and The Bells of St. Mary's was released through Oliver Signature, which is part of Olive Films.
In this episode, Drew does a lot of complaining about Olive Films. Shut up already, dude! Also: Robert Siodmak's The Strange Affair of Uncle Harry.

Film scholar (as well as one of my film professors at IU) James Naremore joins the pod to talk Orson Welles and Shakespeare. We discuss the Criterion Chimes at Midnight, for which Jim did the commentary. We talk about its creation, Welles' love of Falstaff and various aspects of the movie's production. We then talk about the new DVD/Blu-Ray release of Welles' Macbeth, the different versions of the film and which is vastly superior. We also mention the famous "Voodoo Macbeth" put on by Welles in Harlem in 1046 (see youtube clip below). We also talk about Welles' Othello and the unfinished Merchant of Venice and how some pieces of the film are now available. We conclude with talking about the contrasts of film stock vs digital in film schools and in film preservation. Most of Jim's books, including a new edition of The Magic World of Orson Welles, are still in print, as well as the Criterion edition Chimes of Midnight and Olive Films edition Macbeth are available from Amazon, Barnes and Noble or your local print/video store.

We are back in the shadowy world of film noir this week with a look at 1955's The Big Combo. We wanted to cover it as finally came to Blu last month thanks to Olive Films. This one has it all: a sadistic crime boss, hearing aid torture, oral sex and lots and lots of fog. How does it hold up nearly 60s years later? Tune in to find out. 206-350-9002 marriedwithclickers@gmail.com
