In this episode of The Self-Employed Life, I had the great pleasure of speaking with Rob Hunter about the art of effective communication. Rob shares his insights on why communication is a critical — yet often overlooked — skill in many businesses today. He offers practical tips and strategies to help business owners strengthen their communication and better connect with their teams and clients. Rob emphasizes that with so many distractions competing for a person's attention, the ability to communicate clearly, concisely, and effectively has never been more important. We further discuss five important steps that anyone can take to become a more powerful communicator. This episode is for anyone who wants to strengthen their professional relationships and create a bigger impact through the power of clear and effective communication. Rob Hunter loves words. Not just any words, though…ones that create connection and meaningful, lasting impact. Over his 25+ yr. career as a radio broadcaster, he's learned that communication is the most important – yet underrated – skill. When you communicate effectively, you will master your message and influence & inspire others. Audiences seemed mostly disinterested; critics were right on the fence; and the box office was generally unimpressive, all things considered. But who cares about all that stuff? How does Brad Bird's family-friendly sci-fi epic hold up after a particularly long eight years? My guest Rob Hunter (of the excellent Film School Rejects) offers a strong defense of this scrappily optimistic and undeniably beautiful-looking movie. (My apologies for using the word scrappily.) Tyler Nelson is back on the podcast and this time he brought a friend, Rob Hunter! Rob and Tyler are both seasoned experts in training high level athletes in their businesses, My Therapy Physio and Performance and Camp 4 Human Performance. This chat came about because Tyler worked with Rob to help him prepare for a V14/15 project and in doing so Rob nearly doubled his finger strength on an overcoming isometric test. That's a big deal, but what makes this an even bigger deal is that Rob is a V14 climber, 48 years old, and has 30+ years of hard training already under his belt. Rob is no stranger to training either as he recently retired as the Head Coach of the Irish Climbing Team, and has a degree in Sport Therapy.Tune in to hear more about the subtle change in finger training the was so successful for Rob. How “squeezing the lemon” can help with finger strength gains while simultaneously reducing injury risk and total fatigue. Learn about why we should focus on muscular adaptations during our training rather than connective tissue ones. And how intention is the key to strength gains instead of absolute numbers.Look below at the Show Notes for videos that help demonstrate the training talked about in the episode.SHOW NOTES:Rob Hunter's InstagramTyler Nelson's InstagramRob's Business, My Therapy PhysioTyler's Company, Camp 4 Human PerformanceTyler's YouTube ChannelTyler's Demonstration Of Overcoming IsometricsSqueezing The Lemon / Orange DemonstrationTyler's Demonstration Of “Finger Curling”Tyler's Previous Testpiece Episode, #114Support the showSupport us on Patreon: HEREVisit our podcast page: HERESign-up with one of our coaches: HEREFollow us on Instagram: HERE

In this episode of Crime Time, Inc., the focus shifts to Australia and two shocking school kidnapping cases from the 1970s. The first incident occurred in 1972 in Faraday, involving the abduction of a teacher and six students by Edwin Eastwood and Robert Bolin, who demanded a $1 million ransom. Mary Gibbs, the courageous teacher, ingeniously orchestrated their escape. The second case, in 1977, saw Eastwood at it again, this time kidnapping nine students and their teacher from Warren State School, leading to a high-stakes police chase. Both events raised alarms about the safety of rural schools and prompted a nationwide reconsideration of school security, rural policing, and prison protocols. The episode delves into the heroism of the involved teachers, community resilience, and the broader implications for safety and justice.00:00 Welcome to Crime Time, Inc.00:25 The Faraday Kidnapping: A Small Town's Nightmare02:27 Mary Gibbs' Daring Escape03:51 Aftermath and Recognition04:44 The Warren State School Kidnapping06:11 Eastwood's Chaotic Demands06:38 A Hostage Situation Spirals07:35 The Chaotic End of Eastwood's Spree07:55 Eastwood's Capture and Charges08:38 Rob Hunter's Resilience09:52 Impact on Rural Schools12:56 Systemic Vulnerabilities Exposed15:12 Media's Role and Responsibility16:24 Debates on Crime and Punishment17:07 Lessons of Resilience and Hope17:30 Closing Remarks and Teaser Hosted on Acast. DC is overrun with pro-Hamas protesters. They burned the American Flag. Why is this happening? How big of a problem is it? The media rewrites history. Mike Russell & Rob Hunter discuss. We get deep. Currently, federal law allows someone to vote in federal elections if you promise you are a citizen. Republicans are pushing a law to require ID. Rob isn't sold on the fear tactics that migrants will vote. The potential penalty for violating this law is jail. Mike thinks it could be a factor. One activist goes even further - migration is replacing Black people. This is a good conversation. We challenge each other and discuss what can you do about it? Join us. And invite someone into this conversation. Someone you talk to like this. Cheers.
Plenty of great questions today. On our LIVE Stream (M-F, Noon - Arizona time), we were asked questions about politics, how we met, and worst job ever. The attention WNBA player Caitlyn Clark is getting isn't well received. There's race implications. Yes, the same old, surface level conversations are appearing again. The craziest solar eclipse ever was a dud. At least according to us. Welcome to The Brewmance with Mike Russell and Rob Hunter. Away from the constraints of media, we feel you deserve better media with better conversation. While we were disappointed in the eclipse, we dive deep into the politics of today. Two parties. Each with an orthodoxy. And it's hard to break away. We also discuss why the South Carolina women's basketball coach was asked about trans issues and why Diddy may be naming names. Join us. Mike Russell and Rob Hunter present the Friday Nooner. As the Brewmance, we discuss a comment saying Caitlin Clark could play in the NBA. Is this what we have to do to get attention now? Speaking of women's basketball, Vice President Kamala Harris continues to fail. Wait until you hear what she said. We also discuss inflation and the price of gas. Plus, Rob went to a skating rink. Cheers to a great weekend.
'The solutions being offered are frauds,' says Congressman David Schweikert. Because the solutions are made for TV, designed to get you outraged. For example, stop funding Ukraine. Ukraine spending amounts to 5 days of borrowing. Schweikert's point: think bigger. The congressman points out the US has borrowed $3 trillion alone in the past 365 days. And inflation is up 23.7% in Phoenix, Arizona in the past three years. Real solutions lie in the details. Using technology to decrease the size and scope of the government. And getting Americans healthier. Join in for all the details. These are the real challenges facing America. Share the word. Rate, review, subscribe and share The Brewmance with Mike Russell & Rob Hunter. Cheers.
Puff Daddy aka Puffy aka P Diddy aka Diddy saw his homes raided. There are allegations of weird sex parties and potential human trafficking surrounding the music mogul. We break down what we know. The Supreme Court takes a look at a few different free speech issues. This is happening as 30% of Americans now think the First Amendment protections on free speech go too far. How do we change that belief? At a rally, former President Donald Trump used the word 'bloodbath.' The media freaks out and takes it out of context. However, this should be expected. Mike Russell & Rob Hunter also talk more about taking more responsibility for our country. Join in. Catch us streaming live on Facebook & YouTube Mondays at 4p and Friday at 1p Pacific.

It's Friday, which means it's the perfect time for a nooner. Today, Mike Russell & Rob Hunter discuss Tucker Carlson's interview with Russian president Vladimir Putin. Should he have done so? And what do you make of Putin's propaganda? The SuperBowl conversation is not about football, but about pop star Taylor Swift. Is she a Democrat psychological operation on America to help Biden win re-election? Or just a bunch of people on the internet talking. A Sheriff is saying the FBI has warned him about potential terrorist attacks because of the open southern border. What's behind this? Mike Russell and Rob Hunter, as The Brewmance, are streaming live every Monday at 4PM MST and Friday at Noon MST on Facebook & YouTube. Or Subscribe to our podcast to cut around the talk radio noise.
