THE TROUBADOUR PODCAST - The Premier Red Dirt, Texas Country and Independent Music Podcast

The #1 way you can support The Troubadour is by visiting our Patreon page This episode features our interview with Country Music artist Donice Morace. You can't fake authentic. You know it when you see it – and you know it when you hear it. Authentic isthe best word that can be used to describe Donice Morace. From his chiseled good looks and easy-goingpersonality that exude the confidence of a man who knows exactly who he is, to his music which catchesyour ear and takes you back to another era when country music was defined by vocal stylists who were immediately identifiable, Donice is truly authentic. Donice began his journey in music at the tender age of six when his father bought him his first guitar. By the time he was a junior in high school he was singing in choir, and after seeing George Strait in concert while in college at Texas A&M, it became clear to him that music would be his life's calling. The Vidor,Texas native found inspiration from the music of Keith Whitley, George Jones, and Conway Twitty. And while those country traditionalists helped to shape his own sound, it was two local country music heroes, Tracy Byrd and Mark Chesnutt, who gave Donice a good blueprint when it came time to take hiscareer to the professional level and launch his own band. “I learned so much from watching how they had handled their careers. It was like Honky Tonk 101.   Donice continued to grow his stock with the release of his debut self-titled EP in 2017, which featured the top 25 single, “Good Hurt Comin' On,” and “WD-40 and Duct Tape,” which was accompanied by a music video, and peaked at number 15 on the Texas Regional Radio Report. He doubled down with the release of his debut album ‘Long Live the Cowboy' in 2019, unashamedly putting the cowboy back in country music. Fast forward to today, Donice recently released his latest critically acclaimed album ‘This Life I Love,' marking a watershed moment for Donice to continue stake his claim on the country music landscape.   The album features his recent trilogy of hit singles and music videos, “One Drink In,” “Goin' Goin'” and “Wait Til I'm Gone.” Individually and collectively, these songs have shone a bright light on the Texas native, notched him a win as “Emerging Artist of the Year” at the 2022 Texas Country Music Awards, and garnered high praise and coverage from some of country music's largest media outlets.  Donice Morace remains the “One to Watch” in the neo-traditional country music movement that he is helping to spearhead.   We're also excited to say that we are now an affiliate for Sweetwater.  So, the next time you need any new strings, picks, microphones, recording gear, etc. make sure to use this link!

Send us a Text Message.Easton Corbin, born on April 12, 1982, in Trenton, Florida, is an American country music singer known for his neotraditional country sound. Corbin grew up on his grandparents' farm following his parents' divorce and was deeply influenced by country music from a young age. His early exposure to country icons like Merle Haggard, George Jones, and Keith Whitley, coupled with his experience performing at a local church, cultivated his passion for music. After high school, Corbin attended the University of Florida, where he earned an agribusiness degree. However, his passion for music persisted, and he moved to Nashville in 2006 to pursue a career in country music. In Nashville, Corbin worked at a hardware store while honing his songwriting and performing skills. His persistence paid off when he signed with Mercury Nashville in 2009.Corbin's debut single, "A Little More Country Than That," released in 2009, catapulted him to fame. The song, which celebrates rural life and traditional values, topped the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart. This success was followed by his self-titled debut album in 2010, which produced another number-one hit, "Roll with It," and solidified his presence in the country music scene.Critics and fans praised Corbin for his authentic country sound, reminiscent of 1990s country music, which set him apart in an era dominated by pop-country crossover artists. His voice and style drew comparisons to country legends like George Strait, earning him a reputation as a traditionalist within the genre.Corbin's subsequent albums, including "All Over the Road" (2012) and "About to Get Real" (2015), continued to showcase his commitment to traditional country music. "All Over the Road" featured hits like "Lovin' You Is Fun," while "About to Get Real" included the successful single "Baby Be My Love Song."Despite changes in the music industry and evolving trends, Corbin has remained true to his roots. His music often reflects themes of love, heartbreak, and everyday life, resonating with fans who appreciate classic country storytelling. Corbin's dedication to his craft and his ability to stay relevant in a competitive industry highlight his talent and resilience.Easton Corbin's contributions to country music extend beyond his discography. He has toured extensively, bringing his traditional sound to audiences across the United States and beyond. Kent Blazy is a member of the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame. His credits include several singles for Garth Brooks, as well as singles by Gary Morris, Diamond Rio, Patty Loveless and Chris Young. He has a total of seven number one hits to his credit. In 1982, Gary Morris took "Headed for a Heartache" to number 5 on the charts. In the years that followed other artists, such as The Forrester Sisters, T. Graham Brown, Donna Fargo and Moe Bandy recorded Kent's tunes. In 1987, Kent was introduced to a new demo singer by Bob Doyle, then with ASCAP, soon to be the manager for this emerging talent, Garth Brooks. Garth became Kent's most requested demo singer and Bob Doyle also advised, “Garth writes a little bit too.” The first song Garth and Kent penned together was "If Tomorrow Never Comes" which became the first number one song for both. The friendship and writing partnership continued as Garth included eight more of their songs on his albums. Four more of theirs songs captured the number one slot: "Somewhere Other Than the Night", "Ain't Goin' Down (‘Til the Sun Comes Up)", "It's Midnight Cinderella", and "She's Gonna Make It.” Brooks continued to record Blazy's material throughout the 1990s, including the singles “Cold Shoulder” and the George Jones duet “Beer Run (B Double E Double Are You In?).” He also co-wrote “That's What I Get for Lovin' You” by Diamond Rio and “Can't Get Enough” by Patty Loveless in the late 1990s. Kent's songwriting continues with established writing partnerships, as well as developing partnerships with new writers and artists. Many of his crafted works continue to be recorded by artists such as Diamond Rio, Kenny Chesney, Terri Clark, Clay Walker, Patty Loveless, Julie Roberts, Andy Griggs and Blaine Larsen, a new recording artist on RCA. Kent's latest #1 hit is Gettin' You Home (The Black Dress Song), recorded by Chris Young. Kent also has the title track on Reba's latest CD "All The Women I Am" It's also the name of her tour, tv special and her exhibit at the Country Music Hall of Fame. Also, look for Kent's latest cuts from Randy Houser "The Power of a Song" on Randy's latest CD. And "Empty Beer Cans" on Jon Pardi's album "Write You A Song". The C.L.I.M.B. Gott's Roadside got its start in California's Napa Valley 25 years ago and has been recognized by the James Beard Foundation as an early pioneer of fast-casual dining. Through the years, the food has evolved from a limited menu of burgers, fries and shakes to a broad and varied selection that offers something for everyone, says Clay Walker, president of the iconic drive-in. This year, culinary director Jennifer Rebman is introducing a commemorative 25th anniversary menu, rotating in old favorites and new LTOs during each month of 2024. Items like a soft shell crab sandwich, grilled artichokes, street corn and a lobster BLT are coming up as specials. Listen as Walker describes how he is honoring Gott's legacy while growing the brand, how the roadside restaurant puts hospitality front and center, and what guests can expect next from Gott's.
