Now I'm a bit of a policy wonk. I don't care which party it is. If they come up with a policy, I like to break it down and see if it makes sense. Now I know politicians are addicted to announcements, attention and media coverage. Which means they sometimes say the first thing in their heads that sound like they'll get votes. No matter if it's deliverable or not. Labour had a bad case of it. Phil Twyford and his 100 thousand Kiwibuild fantasy. Michael Wood was the champion. Based on five minutes on the back of an envelope he announced a nearly $900 million bike bridge. Faced with backlash from Dominion Road businesses he stuck the light rail project underground. Tripling the price to an unaffordable $18 billion dollars. Now it seems like the National led coalition has a case of the same disease. Paul Goldsmith has it bad. This week he announced a change to citizen's arrest rules but had no idea of what the changes are going to be. Classic announcement of an announcement. But the king of wishful thinking is the prince of the provinces, Shane Jones. First, he proposed a special economic zone for Marsden point begging the question why not turn the whole country into a special economic zone. The whole place needs a hand. Then he proposed repairing Marsden point refinery. A fanciful idea that was shot down in hours as the enormous cost of nearly $8 billion dollars came to light. The reason why no Government has repaired the refinery ever since it was sold 40 years ago. The thing about leadership is that you need to make adult decisions and proposals. If you're a cabinet minister you can't just let the first Walter Mitty like thought bubble pop out of your mouth, when you know there's nothing there. That's the lesson Labour learnt last term. Aotearoa's most successful paralympian Dame Sophie Pascoe has announced her retirement. The champion swimmer, who wasn't at the Paris games last year said she remains passionate about giving back to the sport. Pascoe spoke to Lisa Owen.

Thank you for journeying with us through the Bible over these past two years. It has been an incredible experience to share the Word of God daily, connecting with so many of you who share our love for Scripture. We've witnessed the power of God's Word to transform hearts and lives, and it has been an honor to grow together as a community of faith. Recently, as I was reading Genesis 32, where Jacob wrestled with God, I felt like I was in my own spiritual bout with Him. I sensed the Lord impressing on my heart to slow down, to listen, and to trust His guidance. When I shared this with Holly, she wholeheartedly agreed, affirming that we need to steward our time, talents, and energy well by being obedient to the Holy Spirit's leading. Many of you have expressed the feeling of overwhelm, trying to keep up with daily content, and we hear you! We want to lead like Jesus, who would leave the 99 to go after the one. This has always been our heart-- to run this race together as a community. Therefore, we are intentionally slowing down to ensure we all cross the finish line together, keeping our eyes fixed on Him. Moving forward, we will be reducing our posting schedule from seven videos a week to two lessons a week. We will continue following the chronological Bible reading plan, but instead of calling them “days,” we will refer to them as “lessons.” For example, this week, we'll release Lessons 23 and 24; next week, Lessons 25 and 26. This allows you to approach the content at your own pace—whether that's watching one chapter a day or spreading it out across a longer period. We shared this change during a live video, and the overwhelming response from the community has been a resounding "yes," confirming that we've heard the Lord's voice correctly. This adjustment will give us all the opportunity to savor God's Word, growing deeper in understanding and love for Him. We know this change might surprise some who've come to expect daily content, and for that, we sincerely apologize. But this shift also opens the door to exciting possibilities! By scaling back our posting schedule, we'll have the margin to create the additional resources many of you have requested—such as instructional videos, deeper dives into books or themes of the Bible, and live streams to foster real-time engagement and connection. It will also allow us to focus on producing higher-quality content, prioritizing spiritual depth over quantity. Our prayer is that this new rhythm will help us all relish God's Word and soak in His love as our hearts beat in sync with His. We're excited to step into this new season with you, and we trust that God will continue to use this ministry to build His kingdom in even greater ways. Thank you for your understanding, your grace, and your continued support. This journey is not a sprint—it's a lifelong marathon, and together, we'll finish strong as we walk in obedience to His will.
