Former Everton boss, now manager of the Belgian National team, Roberto Martinez reflects on coaching a side dubbed “Belgium’s golden generation.” Australian comedian and presenter Adam Hills explains why he’s fallen in love with English rugby league and how he introduced physical disability rugby league to the UK. We catch up with Fallon Sherrock - the first female darts player to beat a man at the PDC World Championships – to talk about moving women forward in the sport and how she’s finally getting comfortable giving interviews. We hear from the man who has done everything in cricket - player, coach, umpire and radio and TV commentator – David Lloyd, also known to many as Bumble. Did you know he was also a semi-professional footballer for Accrington Stanley back in the day? Formula 1 driver, Daniel Ricciardo joins us from his parent's farm, just outside Perth, to tell us how he’s finding being back home and coping with the lockdown in Australia. Plus former England and Commonwealth gold winning netball head coach Tracy Neville reveals what life is like as a new mum, how she’s recovering and exercising after the birth of her son and her plans to get back into coaching.
This week on the BashCast - game theory in car parking, Super Saturday hits on the weekend and a losing ticket is paid out as a winner - but the moral quandry is would you cash it out? The answer is, maybe, in the theory of loss aversion. After the break we discuss the PDC World Championships.
Isle of Wight Radio's Matt White looks back on 2014 with Island darts star Keegan Brown. His year included winning the PDC World Youth Championships, as well as reaching the quarter finals of the televised Grand Slam. The 2014 PDC World Championships have thrown up plenty of shocks so far, not least the early exit of favourite Phil Taylor, but as we near the business end of the competition some familar faces are present in the semi-final line up. Former Sky Sports commentator John Gwynne joins Alex Dunn to look at the two semi-finals, as Simon Whitlock takes on Peter Wright and Michael van Gerwen comes up against Adrian Lewis. John also looks back at the tournament so far, as unbelievably his three ante-post picks are still going strong - advised at 3/1, 25/1 and 50/1 prior to the tournament. Enjoy. http://serve.williamhill.com/promoRedirect?member=audiobooUK&campaign=DEFAULT&channel=will_darts&zone=1480323151&lp=0
It's December and there is only a matter of days to go, not until Christmas, but until this year's PDC World Championships are underway. Former Sky Sports commentator John Gwynne joins Mark Walton to look ahead to the action, previewing the outright betting in detail. He goes through the first ten in the market, headed of course by sixteen-time World Champion Phil Taylor, and tells us who he expects to win, who has an each-way chance and a lively outsider to consider. Enjoy. http://serve.williamhill.com/promoRedirect?member=audiobooUK&campaign=DEFAULT&channel=will_darts&zone=1480323151&lp=0
Almost live from Ally Pally, we sit in the pub and talk about the first week of the PDC World Championships, with a little help from Michael Van Gerwen. After a walk up the hill to the Palace itself, we ask Scott 'Cock Hand' Rand the sort of questions that nobody else would. Plus, we review our PDC World Champs bingo card, and discuss the colour of Dave Clark's shirt. This is darts podcasting at its' best (and worst).
