This week's episode is officially smoke-filled, lawsuit-powered, and completely off the rails because legendary rapper Afroman is LIVE in studio! We talk about his rise from cult-classic party icon to internet folk hero, how “Because I Got High” somehow became more relatable with age, and why his recent court battles only made him more popular. Turns out when your house gets raided, your security footage becomes music videos, and the internet crowns you the king of turning legal trouble into album promotion… people pay attention. We break down the bizarre lawsuit saga, the fans rallying behind him, and how Afroman managed to turn controversy into one of the wildest comeback stories in music. Somewhere between free speech debates, viral memes, and guitar solos, we realize this may be the most American story ever told.Plus, Afroman hangs out in studio talking music, fame, police raids, and probably forgetting what he was talking about halfway through—but in the best possible way. It's hilarious, unpredictable, and smells vaguely like incense and bad decisions.New Sponsor: Murphy Engraving-Reach out to Kevin for all your engraving needs! murphyengraving@gmail.com 513-616-6463 FACEBOOK: MURPHY ENGRAVINGINSTAGRAM: MURPHY_ENGRAVINGTell him One More & I'm Outta Here sent ya!!!!Also, special thanks to our friends at The Varner Foundation for supporting the show. www.varnerfoundation.orgSupport the show
This episode, we sit down with the legendary Afroman for one of the funniest and most unforgettable conversations we've had in The Laboratory!Afroman opens up about his defamation lawsuit involving Ohio sheriff's deputies following the 2022 raid on his home, and why he feels his rights as an American citizen were violated. He also breaks down how cannabis changed his life, taking him from being broke to becoming a true weed icon.We get into the viral cop clip that inspired the “Lemon Pound Cake” album title, the story behind his unforgettable American suit and style, and how he keeps his legendary afro perfect — even when it's windy!Afroman also talks about choosing happiness, the difference between players and gangsters, spending 420 in Hawaii, his top 5 smoke songs of all time, and his hilarious SpongeBob analogy about unexpected success and why you shouldn't argue with it.Plus, we hit him with Random Questions with Plaz and a whole lot more! This is a classic episode full of laughs, real stories, and legendary moments. Baltimore comedian Kwame Kumah joins If This Doesn't Work… for a conversation that goes from completely ridiculous to surprisingly real.Kwame talks about growing up near Annapolis/Odenton, being raised by Ghanaian parents, getting influenced by his older sister's 90s pop taste, and how his name connects to Ghanaian day-name traditions. He also gets into his finance background, reading graphs, how easy it is to manipulate data, and why he eventually walked away from the corporate world. From there, the episode goes everywhere: Afroman's police raid and the infamous lemon pound cake, Kwame's worst job in door-to-door roofing sales, teen court over fake weed, Catholic guilt, musicals, reality TV, aliens, DMT, simulation theory, and the impossible question of how many helmet-wearing 10-year-olds you could fight with a baseball bat.But the biggest moment comes when Kwame opens up about the pressure of working in finance, waking up crying, dealing with depression, getting help, and eventually rebuilding his life through bartending, comedy, and learning how to get through the bad stretches.Check Out Kwame:Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/kwame_kumah/TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@UCVHtoTno58suuc6ZYqLNu3g https://www.youtube.com/@Kwame_KumahFollow the Podcast:

After cops raided his house based on false accusations, rapper Afroman wrote an album about the incident, to which police responded with a defamation lawsuit. Last month, he finally won his case, securing an important victory for freedom of speech. Matt Kibbe caught up with Afroman on tour to discuss his interactions with the police, the value of artistic freedom, and the need to hold the government accountable to its citizens.
What happens when you turn a "bullshit" police raid into a viral rap song? In August 2022, the Adams County Sheriff's Office raided Afroman's home looking for a basement dungeon that didn't exist. When no charges were filed, Afroman did what he does best: he made music. Using security and bodycam footage, he released hits like "Lemon Pound Cake" and "Randy Walters," leading seven officers to sue him for defamation and false light. Join Tyrella and Nikita as they break down the March 2026 civil trial, the "actual malice" standard for public officials, and the "diabolically funny" moments in the courtroom—from "reshuffling" seized cash to a witness who didn't know if his own wife had cheated. It's a masterclass in the First Amendment, parody as criticism, and why you should never mess with Afroman's mom's pound cake. Want access to our first 45 episodes? Grab em here! If you've ever wanted a comedy podcast that starts with wholesome 90s nostalgia and ends with absolute chaos… congratulations, you've found your people.Today's episode of The Rizzuto Show kicks off with March Movie Mayhem — a completely scientific (read: wildly emotional) bracket where some of the greatest 90s movies ever made are getting voted off like it's reality TV. And yes, things get heated. When Tommy Boy takes down Dumb and Dumber, friendships are tested. When Mrs. Doubtfire somehow defeats The Big Lebowski, trust in humanity is shaken. And when Shawshank Redemption faces Forrest Gump, the room collectively realizes there are no winners… only arguments. But don't worry — that's just the beginning of this completely normal comedy podcast. We pivot into celebrity news, where things immediately get weird. We're talking about a Charlie Daniels hologram concert for America's 250th birthday, because apparently even the afterlife has tour dates now. The crew debates whether this is cool, creepy, or just inevitable at this point. (Spoiler: it's all three.)Then comes the moment where the tone shifts from “haha funny” to “dude… seriously?” — Tiger Woods' latest DUI incident. No alcohol detected, a flipped vehicle, and a lot of unanswered questions. The crew breaks it down with a mix of concern, disbelief, and the universal agreement that maybe — just maybe — one of the richest athletes on the planet could invest in a driver. We also hit everything from Afroman's legal win, to a disastrous Barbie-themed event that somehow charged people $450 for disappointment, to the kind of random historical facts that make you question how we got here as a society. It's messy, it's hilarious, it's a little unhinged — exactly what you want from a comedy podcast that doesn't pretend to have it all figured out.So buckle up, lower your expectations just a bit, and enjoy the ride.Follow The Rizzuto Show → linktr.ee/rizzshow for more from your favorite daily comedy show.Connect with The Rizzuto Show Comedy Podcast online → 1057thepoint.com/RizzShow.Hear The Rizz Show daily on the radio at 105.7 The Point | Hubbard Radio in St. Louis, MO.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

Attorney Eric Bland tells investigative journalists Mandy Matney and Liz Farrell why he is fired up — and for good reason. Eric discusses twelve ODC complaints from a convicted felon and a looming all-day interview about his conduct from Murdaugh-related complaints filed by Parkers attorneys and Dick Harpootlian… from as early as 2021! The team also takes a hard look at what the ODC actually is, who it protects, and who it's used against. Mandy breaks down why she's fighting her deposition subpoena in the Parker civil conspiracy case tooth and nail, what it means that Liz sat for eight hours and it still wasn't enough, and why Mandy may ultimately decide to sit — on her own terms. Then: a masterclass in fighting back from an unlikely source. Afroman's defamation trial win against Adams County, Ohio Sheriff's deputies teaches the crew about the Streisand Effect, probable cause, and the power of sunlight. ☕ Cups Up! ⚖️ Episode References How to file a complaint with SC ODC

Thank you, Afroman, for standing up for freedom of speech and expression. Our human rights matter, and artists have always been on the front lines defending them with courage and power. "This is precisely the time when artists go to work. There is no time for despair, no place for self-pity, no need for silence, no room for fear. We speak, we write, we do language. The Trump Administration's crackdown on undocumented and documented immigrants hasn't stopped — even for recipients of Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, or DACA. Since Trump returned to the White House last year, his administration has made life harder and harder for the estimated half a million DACA recipients living in the US. The Trump Administration has said it's deported nearly 100 DACA recipients — and that's not including everyone who has been detained. To talk more about what Dreamers are having to endure under Trump, we spoke with Laura Barrón-López. She's a White House reporter for MSNOW.And in headlines, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth reportedly plans to ask Congress for $200 billion to fund the war with Iran, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu holds a press conference just to prove he's still kickin', and rapper Afroman is — legally — serving up Lemon Pound Cake.Show Notes: Check out Laura's interview – https://tinyurl.com/4ujxrtxu Call Congress – 202-224-3121 Subscribe to the What A Day Newsletter – https://tinyurl.com/y4y2e9jy What A Day – YouTube – https://www.youtube.com/@whatadaypodcast Follow us on Instagram – https://www.instagram.com/crookedmedia/ For a transcript of this episode, please visit crooked.com/whataday
