Heather, Jastin, and Sterling go ive at the Southside Podfest and talk about their favorite movies based in Chicago.
In the years that it’s been running, DC Podfest has prided itself on fostering a community for podcasters of any level or creed to come and find a place amongst like-minded people. This year’s conference proved no different, with guests ranging from first-time “I might want to start a podcast” thinkers and plotters to folks like Josh Hallmark, creator of True Crime Bullsh**, Our Americana, and much more. While the event only lasted two days, it brought forth a font of passion and dedication to the craft of podcasting. We at Podbean sat down with four different podcasters to talk about their journey through the medium, and put their interviews together as a clip show to highlight the positivity, creativeness, and dedication to their work.

MASCLab’s Podfest is A Celebration of Podcasting and Media-Makeing held each year at Teachers College, Columbia University. The event is hosted in the state-of-the-art Smith Learning Theater to provide an interactive and immersive environment for students, researchers, practitioners and community members to come together and share in the experience of listening. Our 2019 Podfest included a bit of live podcasting, where we hosted a panel to discuss all things multimodality. The panel included Lalitha Vasudevan, Ioana Literat, Haeny Yoon, Katie Newhouse, and Dalia Constantine. Listen in as they answer questions about making and youth story-telling, being open to various modes of inquiry, and the importance of multimodal research as a whole. We were thrilled to be part of Podfest 2019 in Orlando! We met people like John Lee Dumas, Pat Flynn, Kate Erickson... It was an excellent learning experience. Some of the take aways were that Apple podcasts downloads account for nearly 80% of all downloads. We also learned about the 10x 10 x 10 method which encourages 10 minutes of brain dumping, 10 minutes of organizing and 10 minutes of refining the top 3 ideas.

Thank you for tuning in to today's episode. I am sharing my experience and Pecha Kucha talk from Podfest 2019. Below is a description from google: Pecha Kucha is a presentation format devised by Japanese architects, Astrid Klein and Mark Dytham of Klein Dytham architecture. The first PechaKucha Night was held in Tokyo in their gallery/lounge/bar/club/creative kitchen, SuperDeluxe, in February, 2003. Pecha Kucha is a rigid presentation format in which the speaker has exactly 20 slides to speak about, with exactly 20 seconds allocated for each slide. I had 15 seconds a slide for my talk at Podfest. Although I speak often at large events, I was nervous for this presentation. Not only due to the 5 minutes I had to deliver 20 slides, but because I was talking about podcasting to Podcasters. I knew the audience of Podcasters who's shows were varied, and most likely had nothing to do with Spirituality. My topic was "How to inspire spiritual growth through a Podcast" The only way I was going to connect to this audience was to be myself. I had the opportunity to see many people deliver their talk before me, and they were speaking super fast, looking at the slides and not connecting to the audience. I knew, if I was going to make an impact, I had to do a few things differently. 1. Breathe 2. Invite them to take a cleansing breath with me 3. Slow down and pause between my words 4. Hold space 5. Bless the energy in the room It really was a great opportunity to speak. I truly felt that I delivered my point and impacted the audience. As I enter my 6th year in podcasting, I continue to grow and evolve. I do not take it lightly you tune in each week. I will continue to stay on the fore front of podcasting and continue to deliver content to serve your spiritual growth. Please feel free to contact me for show ideas as well as offering featured guests. You can connect with me on https://www.instagram.com/theintuitivewoman/ or email me Tinaconroy111@gmail.com May you continue on your path to spiritual growth Many Blessings~Tina
