If you listened to the Halloween episode where Molly and I told the story of a young, powerless nun from Fresno, California who'd been haunting church property for YEARS, then you'll recall how our pursuit to understand Sister Irenita's discontent went where we could've never predicted. There is someone that passed away decades ago that came on the spiritual radar of my guest. Together, we are endeavoring to shine a spotlight on her life, in part to honor the dead, but also in hopes it will land on the ears of someone out there who has a missing puzzle piece or two. Join us on this unpredictable and jaw-dropping journey.Superfans of Curious Cat will recognize my guest from our Christmas memories episode where she shared her unforgettable story. Entrepreneurs on Fire is among the most popular and profitable business podcasts, with nearly 4,000 episodes, more than 142 million listens, and an average revenue of more than $150,000 a month. Hear the EOFire team's tips for starting a podcast in this interview. Host John Lee Dumas started Entrepreneurs on Fire in 2012 to fill a void in the market. Their consistently valuable free content was an instant hit, and Kate Erickson joined the team six months later to create systems to manage their growing audience. A decade later, they've interviewed more than 3,000 entrepreneurs and given inspiration and actionable strategies to countless more. Now, Kate's talking to the UpFlip team about how to start a podcast with this kind of massive growth potential. You'll hear both what drove EOFire's success and the mistakes they made along the way, along with some helpful resources and other advice that will be invaluable to anyone starting a podcast in 2023. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to you and yours. This will be my 53rd Christmas. My God! Time flies. My first Christmas memory is of reaching into Grandma Riley's oversized cookie tin and taking out a perfect sugar cookie, crisp on the edges, tender inside, I savored every nibble. Those Spokane Christmases were my happiest. I was with my cousins and the house was overstuffed with family. There was Nat King Cole, Bing Crosby, and Andy Williams playing behind the chatter as adults caught up over a game of cards or elbow to elbow at the kitchen counter preparing food. My clothes absorbed the smells of turkey and homemade candy along with cigarette smoke and hearth fire. I share some Christmas memories in hopes it makes your holiday season more joyful. Kate Erickson (the other half of Entrepreneurs on Fire, and wife of John Lee Dumas) shares her journey from a corporate career, to meeting JLD, to becoming a part of EO Fire, to how she manages and streamlines EO Fire, and about the benefits of moving to Puerto Rico. Entrepreneurship is a full-time job, and it takes a lot of time and effort to build a successful business. But it's not easy to manage time effectively when you're also juggling family, work, and other responsibilities. That's why Kate, who used to be a corporate employee, decided to become part of Entrepreneurs on Fire. She knows that it takes dedication and patience to succeed as an entrepreneur, and she's learned how to manage her time effectively by following some simple tips. Here are five time-management tips that will help you succeed as an entrepreneur: • Set realistic goals. Don't try to do too much at once – instead, focus on achieving small goals that will help you move closer to your larger goal. This will help you stay motivated and focused throughout the process. • Prioritize your tasks. Make sure that you spend your time on tasks that are most important to your business. This will help you avoid wasting time on tasks that aren't essential or that can be completed more quickly or easily by someone else. • Set deadlines for yourself and stick to them. This will help you stay organized and motivated, and it will also give you a sense of accomplishment when you reach your goals. • Get organized. If you want to be successful as an entrepreneur, you need to be able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously without feeling overwhelmed or stressed out. One way to achieve this is by using a system like GTD (Getting Things Done). • Take breaks every now and then. It's important to allow yourself time for relaxation and recreation – this will help you recharge your batteries and come back stronger than before. • Set aside time each day for your business. Whether it's 30 minutes or an hour, make sure you have dedicated time each day to work on your business. This will help you stay organized and keep track of progress. • Use technology to help manage your time. There are many tools available to help you manage your time more effectively, including timers, calendars, and task managers (like Trello or Asana). Use these tools to help organize your work schedule and track progress. • Ask for help when needed. If you find yourself struggling to manage your time, don't be afraid to ask for help from friends or family members who are experienced in entrepreneurship or banking. They may be able to offer advice or assistance in completing specific tasks. Entrepreneurship is all about creating something new and exciting. But it's also about managing your time wisely so you can achieve your goals. One of the most important tools for time management for entrepreneurs is systems for content creation. This means creating a schedule and sticking to it, so you can focus on producing high-quality content that will help your business grow. Another key factor in successful entrepreneurship is batching content. This means producing content in small batches instead of all at once. This helps you stay focused and produce better quality work overall. By using these systems and following a schedule, you'll be able to manage your time more effectively and achieve your goals as an entrepreneur. John Lee Dumas showed early signs of his dedication and commitment to process. He pivoted to swimming after injuries forced him to leave the soccer pitch and basketball court his senior year in high school. JLD quickly transformed one weakness in technique each day; in the final competition of the season, John touched the wall first, winning the Maine State Championship in the 50-yard freestyle. After graduation from Providence College, John served our country as an Army platoon leader in Iraq. He continued searching for his purpose or "zone of fire" (to coin a phrase from John) - a place where passion, expertise, and experience intersect - and ditched law school, left the financial sector and real estate behind. He began devouring podcasts, quickly realizing the absence of a daily show dedicated to interviewing entrepreneurs and business leaders. John reached out to the host of his favorite podcast The Eventual Millionaire and the host Jaime Masters became his podcast guide and mentor. Fast forward to today, JLD has interviewed over 3,600 of the world's most successful entrepreneurs. John, his partner Kate Erickson, and their small virtual team are the highest-grossing daily affiliate and sponsorship show online. John and Kate are co-creators of Podcaster's Paradise, an online course, community, and resource assisting fledgling beginners to seasoned broadcasting professionals to realize their podcasting dreams. In his new book The Common Path to Uncommon Success John distills essential qualities, mutual habits, into 17 focused steps to success. We are honored, thrilled, and excited to welcome this podcast inspiration, John Lee Dumas, to this episode of Intrinsic Drive™. Intrinsic Drive™ is produced by Ellen Strickler and Phil Wharton. Take imperfect action. ~ Kate Erickson: EOFire How many times have you refrained from taking action on a problem because of the what-ifs? The thought process goes like this: Well, I can do xyz, but what if (insert new problem) happens? Then what do I do? I just don't know how to proceed…. Before you know it, you're paralyzed and you've talked yourself out of doing anything. This week's guest, Kate Erickson of EOFire, knows how it feels to be stuck and frustrated. Often, Kate felt like her life was moving in a one-step forward, two-steps back progression–or regression. But once Kate learned to let go of the emotion accompanying her situations and take imperfect action, she began looking for the opportunities in challenges and released herself from expecting a perfect outcome. Here at Brilliantly Resilient, we know that nothing is perfect–neither our plans nor their intended outcomes. Waiting for perfection is the best way to ensure failure. So, “take imperfect action” is excellent advice, and one of our favorite mantras, to keep things moving and evolving towards progress and success–even if it's not the progress you envisioned. As we celebrate Women's History Month, tune into this episode of the Brilliantly Resilient podcast to hear more of the brilliant Kate Erickson's practical, simple strategies for success. Let's be Brilliantly Resilient together! XO, KS & MFB

Kate notes that each one of them has strengths that complement each other. Kate is the marketing expert and guru, and John is the personality behind the brand. Their differing strengths work well together, giving their business the fire it needs to grow quickly.
