They Know, They Just Don't CareBy Linda SurovichAs a sports fan, I once again have to reconcile with the fact that my favorite sports team does not care about me. The Rangers traded for Patrick Kane despite the assault allegations against him in the past, which only went away because the accuser's decision not to proceed with the case after her identity became known. There have been many articles bemoaning the end of an era in Chicago, while at the same time looking the other way about the accusations against him. Kane, like so many others, managed to look the other way when a teammate was sexually assaulted by a video coach. The entire team stayed silent and let a teammate suffer in silence, while Kane, himself facing allegations, was celebrated as the face of the franchise, and even of the NHL.Obviously this isn't a problem unique to one sport, even in Chicago and New York. White Sox fans are in the same situation now that Mike Clevinger is on their team and the subject of heinous allegations himself. The Mets parted ways with Khalil Lee after he was accused of domestic violence but then inexplicably brought him back. Expecting more from teams at this point is folly. They have repeatedly shown they don't care, as long as the player is talented enough to help them win. The real change needs to come from within. There is some progress in that area since Trevor Bauer remains unsigned. The Dodgers said he would not be welcomed back into the clubhouse, so when the players speak up, and with pressure coming from their peers, it might lead to some actual change. However this is still only one example. Justin Verlander was one of the loudest and most prominent voices to speak out against domestic violence until the Astros acquired Roberto Osuna. He went noticeably quiet after that because again winning is everything. This problem will continue to persist because both teams and players are not motivated enough to see anything change. That leaves fans and the media to make our voices heard and to hold them accountable for their actions. This means thinking twice about writing glowing articles about players that have credible accusations against them, no matter how talented they are.Today's episode of Willets Pod is brought to you by zerosacks.com, and you can, as mentioned in the episode, get 10% off all Willets Pen shop purchases with the code ARIZONA. Jared Tims, Brock Davis and Nate Green break down all of the Angels Spring Training new and discuss which free agent would impact the Halos more in 2021; Jake Odorizzi or Roberto Osuna?
2-13-2021 Passed Ball Show. John spends the first part of this show talking about the severity of racist and sexist statements and the seriousness of sexual harassment and domestic violence. Should racism, sexism, and sexual harassment, when proven, be the equivalent to a felony conviction? If not, why are sports public figures banned from employment? They should have the right to work. If John was hiring, he would want to know the person was remorseful and had learned from the terrible thing they said/ did. Once again, the court of public opinion is stronger than the court of law and John believes that should change. Chris Doyle and Jared Porter should be able to get a job again assuming they are contrite about what they did. John then talks about the upcoming Daytona 500 and whether Denny Hamlin can become the first driver to win the race three years in a row. John talks about the possibility of Bubba Wallace becoming the first black driver to win the race. John also brings up a couple long shots and why if you buy lottery tickets, you should consider placing a bet on these drivers. Finally, John talks about how LaMelo Ball was cost the number one overall selection in this past year’s NBA draft by his father. At this point, Ball has been the best player from that draft class and it is not even close. John talks about why Yasiel Puig would be a good fit for the New York Mets and Jedd Gyorko would be for the New York Yankees. And why Roberto Osuna should also have a right to work.
Jared Tims and Nate Green discuss the new Angels acquisitions, and discuss if signing the Halos should sign Roberto Osuna.

This week’s guest is another Houston Astros relief pitcher, the superb Ryan Pressly. The discussion opens with a range of wider-reaching baseball topics, including Pressly's thoughts on whether 2021 will see a full 162-game Major League Baseball schedule and the forthcoming Collective Bargaining Agreement renewal due, ahead of the 2022 season. Pressly then discusses how he felt having to pitch as a closer for the Astros in 2020 after Roberto Osuna's injury, plus working with Martin Maldonado, Carlos Correa's leadership and Framber Valdez's excellent year, before moving on to give an in-depth look at what life is like as a reliever in the Major Leagues and also insight into the wealth of experience provided by pitching coach Brent Strom and manager Dusty Baker. Pressly additionally speaks on how he manages to keep calm during the most high-pressure pitching scenarios, before giving his outlook on both the departure of George Springer and the re-signing of Michael Brantley. Plus we take a look at Pressly's baseball inspiration growing up in Dallas and his views ahead of the 2021 Houston Astros season.

Locked On Blue Jays - Daily Podcast On The Toronto Blue Jays
It's a tough episode of Locked on Blue Jays today, and if you're a fan, you'll know exactly why.Host Ryan Andrews starts with some stories from last night's game, including the hamstring issue that banished Lourdes Gurriel from the Battle of the Brothers with his sibling Yuli, and a solid performance from Richard Urena. Andrews also looks ahead and talks about Sean Reid-Foley making his final start of the season against the defending champions. The second segment sees Andrews start to discuss the reaction to Roberto Osuna's re-emergence for a save at Rogers Centre before news breaks that the Crown has dropped the case against him in favor of a one-year peace bond. The host is not happy with this turn of events, predictable as they were, and expresses frustration and anger at the result. They then thank the Blue Jays fans who were in attendance last night booing him, and the fans who shared their thoughts on social media.Andrews ends with a brief acknowledgement of Marco Estrada, who made likely his last start for the Blue Jays. The Nova Scotian discusses Estrada's place in Toronto history and how they will remember the Magician who started as a swingman but became a legend.Special thanks to @gsnap_abk6, @walshag, @tinakinmond, @DaveDivjak, @vbamber12 and @EverythingGrich for contributing!Follow the podcast on Twitter @LockedOnJays and follow the host @NeoAC18!Subscribe on Google Play and iTunes! This episode is sponsored by Vivid Seats, Locked on NFL and Locked on NBA. A solid series against Tampa Bay gives way to some grappling with a return on today's episode!Ryan Andrews begins by looking at the performances of the Blue Jays' rookie starters during the series against the Rays. Andrews notes the struggles Sean Reid-Foley had in maintaining control of his electric stuff in what will likely be his final start of the season. Contrasting that with Thomas Pannone's steady performance and it becomes clear what the 2019 pecking order is. Andrews also notes that while Pannone had a tough situation mentally on the mound in the third inning, coming through that may serve him well moving forward. The second segment discusses Ryan Borucki's game effort against Blake Snell and details facets where the lefty can improve as he heads into an off-season where he knows he will be an MLB starter. Andrews also shakes their head at Jose Fernandez's series and locks the left in as next year's QEW specialist. In the final segment, Andrews deals with the return of Roberto Osuna and the emotions that are brought up. The host makes it clear that they want no part of any kind of potential sympathy for the former closer, and discusses their Jays From the Couch article where they recommend a hearty chorus of boos be rained upon the domestic abuser.Follow the podcast on Twitter @LockedOnJays and follow the host @NeoAC18!Subscribe on Google Play and iTunes! This episode is sponsored by Vivid Seats, Locked on NFL and Locked on NBA.
