The Phillies are 5-1 out the gates and host the World Series Champion Dodgers this weekend for three at The Bank. A great early litmus test for this group, they are 7-3 in their last 10 against LA, including wins in 6 of their last 7 contests. Early on, the lineup is quiet against starting pitchers while raking against relief pitchers. To beat the Dodgers, the Phils will have to change that narrative. There have been contributions from the bottom of the order with Sosa and Rojas, and the new addition, Max Kepler, has began his Phillies career in solid fashion. The marathon of the MLB Season is underway as the VetPhact and Prem's MLB Picks returns, with three Moneyline Locks for this Friday's games. They'll be off today, before Zack Wheeler gets his second start of the year against Kyle Freeland tomorrow.

Today, the NFL owners will vote on the future the Tush Push. The NFL would need 24 owners to vote against the play to ban it.

Tek & Prem welcome Phillies Reporter for The Inquirer, Scott Lauber, on the VetLine to talk Phils. The MLB season is less than one week away, as the Fightins prepare to travel to DC to take on the Nationals for a 3-game series to start the 2025 campaign. The Phils starting pitching is still among the league's best, adding Luzardo to that mix, and the lineup may be shook up a bit as the Phils try again with this core, to win a World Series Trophy for the first time since 2008. Eagles offseason talk continues as the Draft approaches in April. Howie Roseman has a ton of Draft capital and has added some good low risk-high reward 1-year contracts to young defenders with a lot to prove. There will be some good competition in camp for key spots, but the core remains at every level of the defense with an offense still boasting the same stars. The defending Super Bowl Champions are 6 weeks removed from the big game, but the excitement for their trajectory should be just as strong as it was on Feb 10. James Seltzer gives the Morning team his first take on the Phillies spring training. James is looking at the young players like Aiden Miller and Andrew Painter. The team like the Max Kepler signing.
As Spring Training begins in Clearwater for the Philadelphia Phillies, right fielder Nick Castellanos likes what the organization has done this offseason. In talking with the media, Castellanos praised the moves to acquire starting pitcher, Jesus Luzardo, outfielder, Max Kepler, and reliever, Jordan Romano. Castellanos said, in part, that the Phillies got better heading into 2025 after falling to the New York Mets in four games in the NLDS in 2024. But did the Phillies actually improve for 2025?
Introduction & Casual Banter 00:00:35 – 00:01:19 Chris and Matt open the episode discussing how it has been a slow week, except for the Eagles' Super Bowl win. Super Bowl LVIII Recap: Eagles' Blowout Victory Over Chiefs 00:01:31 – 03:30 The Eagles dominated the Chiefs, winning 40-22 in a game that was never competitive. At one point, Philadelphia led 34-0, making the game feel surreal. Chris compares it to the 2018 Super Bowl win over the Patriots, which was more dramatic and felt “earned” due to its back-and-forth nature. Matt disagrees, feeling completely satisfied with the Eagles' dominant performance. Chiefs' Struggles & Eagles' Defensive Dominance 03:30 – 05:56 The Chiefs shut down Saquon Barkley, limiting him to 57 rushing yards on 25 carries. Despite his limited impact, Barkley was crucial in getting the Eagles to the Super Bowl. Patrick Mahomes had his worst playoff game ever, struggling against the Eagles' defense. The Eagles' defensive front sacked Mahomes six times, despite never blitzing once. Key Plays & Standout Performers 05:56 – 07:45 Josh Sweat pushed his lineman into Mahomes, leading to a game-changing Zach Baun interception. Cooper DeJean's pick-six sealed the game, making it clear the Eagles would win. Devonta Smith's touchdown late in the third quarter prompted Matt to confidently declare victory. Eagles Free Agency & Offseason Decisions 07:45 – 13:46 Josh Sweat and Milton Williams played their way into big contracts, making their return uncertain. Zach Baun is considered a must-sign player due to his leadership and impact. Mekhi Becton's resurgence in Philadelphia makes him a priority to re-sign. Darius Slay may retire or leave after one more season. Discussion on Howie Roseman's ability to rebuild the roster, with 15 of 22 starters being homegrown. Coaching Changes & Kellen Moore's Impact on Staff 16:40 – 18:38 Kellen Moore took the Saints' head coaching job, raising concerns about how many Eagles coaches he will take with him. Jalen Hurts has only had the same offensive coordinator for two consecutive years once since college. Potential replacements for offensive coordinator include Kevin Patullo or outside hires like Lincoln Riley. Betting Odds for Next Season 18:38 – 19:05 Eagles are favorites (+550) to win the 2026 Super Bowl, slightly ahead of the Chiefs (+600). Eagles are +295 favorites to win the NFC again, followed by the Lions (+400). Other Philadelphia Sports Topics 19:05 – 24:09 Sixers' struggles and Paul George's lack of effort frustrate fans. Phillies' lack of offseason moves, with Max Kepler being their only notable signing. AJ Brown's generosity, as he visited a young fan recovering from a plane crash. Final Thoughts & Wrap-Up 24:09 – End Chris and Matt reflect on the emotional highs of the Eagles' win. Discussion on offseason strategy, balancing free-agent signings, and trade rumors. Chris jokes about avoiding another stressful season by celebrating now.
The Philadelphia Phillies made a handful of moves this offseason, acquiring starting pitcher Jesus Luzardo from the Miami Marlins for Starlyn Caba and Emaarion Boyd. But the two big free agents the Phillies signed, outfield Max Kepler and closer Jordan Romano, come with injury concerns. Will Kepler and Romano bounce back to 2023 form and help the Phillies win games in 2025? Plus, it's the first installment of Spring Training Bold Predictions Mondays. Each Monday, we'll give one bold prediction from each division leading up to the start of the 2025 MLB season. Today, we'll begin with the American League West.

Everybody is in a good mood today following the Eagles' victory over Green Bay.New Phillies left fielder Max Kepler was upbeat last week when he talked about his upcoming season. The Phils signed Kepler to a one-year, $10 million contract in December. He will be their everyday left fielder. If Kepler is healthy, the Phils should see a boost in left. If not, it could be a problem. We reacted to Kepler's comments about his health, joining a new team and more. We also reacted to Jeff Hoffman's three-year, $33 million contract with the Blue Jays. Hoffman revamped his career in Philly, but it was clear he wasn't returning with the Phillies focused on players on one-year contracts.Could the Phils sign another reliever before Opening Day? This was a salary dump to eliminate some of the outfield depth the Cubs didn't need.a.Bellinger is a dead pull hitter with poor exit velocities and a ton of leverage. He should be better in Yankees stadium, but is it enough to interest you in Drafts? He is the 28th outfielder off the board and has increased since the trade. Are you interested? Will we look at the players going around him?b.Let's see what we think about the Yankees opening day lineup - RosterResource3.The Phillies sign Max Kepler to a one-year, $10 million contract. He's not the same player he was a few years ago, as the exit velocities are off, and last year, he rarely walked. You typically don't see the fall-off he had last season in his walk rate, so there could be some positive correction. However, with the bat speed down, players will get more anxious. His ADP is 639.51. Is there any value left? Maybe a flier in a Draft and Hold League?4.The Orioles sign Tomoyuki Sugano. Can you give us a scouting report?a.Let's look at the Orioles Opening Day rotation.5.Early this morning, the Phillies acquired Jesus Luzardo from the Marlins for…wait for it…more prospects. Returning is SS Starlyn Caba and OF Emaarion Boyda.Luzardo was injured a lot last season and only started 12 games for the Marlins. He was the big talk this time last year, but the Marlins held onto him. He has two more years of team control.b.Do you like this for the Phillies?c.Stat line for 2025 – GS, Ks, and ERASegment 2 – AL East Fantasy Questions – Ray and Blue Jays1.Tampa Bay Raysa.Junior Caminero's stat line for 2025: AB, HR, RBI and BAb.Josh Lowe was one of your guys last season, but only got 50 plate appearances against LHP. He's the 40th outfielder off the board. Any interest? We will look at other outfielders going where he is.c.Does Christopher Morel get full-time at-bats for the Rays? i.Over-under 25 home runs? ii.Over-under .220 batting average.d.McClanahan is 18 months removed from TJS, but remember, it's his second one. He's the 46 pitcher off the board or the 35th starter off the board. Is he worth the gamble as a high-end number three starter?i.McClanahan (46), Baz (67), Springs (95). Order these three in how you would draft them.e.Give me a sleeper in the organization (minor or majors)2.Toronto Blue Jaysa.I'm doing my Draft Targets for our Patreon members. I released first base over the weekend and wrote many glowing words about Vlad Jr., something I haven't done much over his career. I love the setup, though. He has enormous power, still young and in his walk year. What are your thoughts?i.If Soto signs for $600 to $700 and Vlad Jr. will be just 26 when he enters free agency, is he at least a $500 million player?b.Joey Loperfido stat line for 2025 – AB, HR, BA, and RBIi.BTW, Loperfido is two months younger than Vlad Jr. and his career is just getting started. Let that sink in…c.George Springer's career is winding down and he's now going as the 59th outfielder off the board. He hit 19 home runs and stole 16 bases last season. Any interest?d.Kevin Gausman is the 63rd pitcher off the board – a late number three, early four starter. He pitched to a 3.83 ERA, but the strikeouts were down.i.Are you interested in Gausman next season.ii.I've looked at his baseballsavant page and will do a breakdown of him. There are warning signs. e.Give me a sleeper in the organization (minor or majors)3.Who wins the AL East and how many teams advance to the playoffs?Close
