Sinha emphasizes the impact of Black abolitionists, particularly those who escaped enslavement — like Frederick Douglass, Harriet Tubman, William Wells Brown, and James W.C. What is the surest way to achieve self liberation, enlightenment? Some tout the use of hallucinogens such as LSD or psilocybin mushrooms in order to take the short path to a spiritual upgrade. Others tout the slow path via years on the meditation mat. In this episode Thom explores his chosen path and the realizations that he encountered along the way. Thom also shares insights learned from his mysterious friendship with the shaman he knew in the Pacific Northwest. He also introduces the listener to the humanistic philosophy of Ubuntu, wherein in any community or tribe where Ubuntu is practiced it's all for one and one for all.Thom also shares with us a new book called Musa Masala: Mountain Girl of the Himalaya. I was asked to write a blurb for the book by the writers. I wrote: “I had tears in my eyes from the outset. The inspiring and transformative journey of a lovable little homeless girl is an inspiration for us all… Musa learns that there are no limits on how far she can go in life. Such a wonderful tale for today’s children, young and old.” For more information on Musa Masala, please visit www.musamasala.com Proceeds from the book will benefit the construction and operation of the Wongchhu Sherpa Memorial Hospital in Nepal. It's tough to classify the variety of blues in this hour of The Roadhouse, so I'll just stay out of the way of putting your own frame around it. Alabama Mike, Terrie Odabi, Rose City Kings, Dave Muskett, and Ann Rabson - if you're familiar with those artists, that tells you everything you need to know about the mix of blues in this hour. One thing is certin about that mix, though. It's definitely a mix to comprise another hour of the finest blues you've never heard - the 598th Roadhouse.

The single word to describe this hour of The Roadhouse is "debut." I've got five artists in the hour who are making their Roadhouse debuts. And, it was extremely difficult to pull together the playlist because there were multiple tracks from those debut artists that I'd loved to have dropped in the show. Colin James, Rose City Kings, John Blues Boyd, The Jackson Whites, and the Jeremiah Johnson Band help fill the hour. Let's welcome the new artists to The Roadhouse, knowing they'll provide big contributions to another hour of the finest blues you've never heard.
