In this episode of Honey Bee Obscura, Jim Tew recounts an unexpected turn during what was supposed to be a simple walk through his bee yard. When a hive erupts in swarm-like intensity, Jim finds himself in the middle of a classic beekeeping challenge—spotting and catching a queen mid-swarm. What follows is a fast-paced reflection on instincts, experience, and an old piece of equipment: the queen and drone trap. Jim revisits a mostly forgotten tool of the trade and tests its function in real time. Does it stop the swarm? Not quite. But it does raise questions about how much we really know about our bees and their behavior. Why was the queen outside the hive? Were those young bees left behind confused or just waiting? Did the swarm even come from his own apiary? This episode is a perfect listen for beekeepers who appreciate the unpredictable, curious moments that remind us why we fell in love with bees in the first place. It's also a good reminder that, sometimes, the tools we put aside might still have a use—just maybe not the one we expected. ______________________ Thanks to Betterbee for sponsoring today's episode. Stassi opens up about how much it meant to have Bestie Taylor Strecker at her SI Miami moment—but the convo quickly turns into a hilarious (and painfully relatable) rant about being “favor allergic.” From DM disasters to one-time-only friendship asks, they break down the unspoken rules of adult boundaries. Taylor watched the new season of And Just Like That... without Stassi. Cue the drama, the Carrie Bradshaw analysis, and a firm decision to finally stop watching. Plus: why Blake Lively's Instagram is so erratic, how Taylor Swift might be behind the quiet unfollow, and the social media behavior that's giving Queen Bee narcissist energy. Thanks for supporting our sponsors:Progressive: Visit Progressive.com to see if you could save on car insurance.Boll and Branch: Get 15% off, plus free shipping on your first set of sheets, at BollAndBranch.com/stassi.Hiya Health: Receive 50% off your first order. Writer, filmmaker, and one of the founding queens of Drag Story Hour, Kyle Casey Chu (aka Panda Dulce) brings us her poignant debut novel. Equal parts sweet coming-of-age story and thoughtful, kid-friendly exploration of intersectional identity, QUEEN BEES OF TYBEE COUNTY is a celebration and imagination of a world in which we all get the support and affirmation we deserve. After making the buzzer-beating shot at the Georgia basketball state championships, Derrick Chan becomes the star of Bayard Middle School, and Derrick's single dad could not be prouder. But there are parts of Derrick that no one knows about, like the toenail polish he wears under his basketball sneakers, his secret lip-sync performances in the bathroom mirror, and the feelings he's developing for his best friend and teammate, JJ. As the school year comes to a close, Derrick's dad takes an out-of-town job and ships Derrick off to spend the summer with his estranged, eccentric grandmother, Claudia. Soon, Claudia introduces Derrick to the world of small-town southern beauty pageants, and Derrick suddenly feels he's found where he belongs. But when the opportunity arises to compete in the town pageant, Derrick is forced to decide just how much of himself he's ready to show the world. Can he learn to love and accept the most unique parts of himself? And what will happen if others—like his father and JJ—can't do the same? Whew, y'all. Today we're getting into something that's not just a teenage thing—it's very much alive in grown folks' spaces too. On this episode of Spiritual Homegirl, we're breaking down the many faces of “mean girl energy”—from the Queen Bee to the Self-Sabotager, the Spiritual Gaslighter, and even that one homegirl who barks but never bites. Let's be real: sometimes these archetypes show up around us… and sometimes they show up as us. But don't trip—this isn't an episode that's 100% about judgment. It's about calling in some awareness, taking a little accountability, and doing that inner work so we're not out here operating from unhealed energy. If you've ever felt dismissed, manipulated, or drained by somebody who's supposed to be on your side—or if you've noticed a few toxic traits creeping in on your own path—this episode is for you.✨ Tap in as we talk about how “mean girl” energy shows up in adulthood (and the wellness space), 9 archetypes that explain the behavior underneath the shade, and why self-awareness is key to breaking the cycle. We also honor a fallen BooFriend, and celebrate the accomplish another one.Leave a review, text it to your favorite truth-teller, or post your takeaways—I always love hearing how y'all are processing and growing in real time.Stay down but don't stay stuck,—Maria, Your Spiritual Homegirl

Buffalo, Minnesota was a small town where everyone knew everyone's name, and that familiarity brought with it the kind of judgmental culture that could crush anyone who didn't fit the mold. At the top of the social pyramid sat the Preppies—the popular girls who ruled the school with their designer clothes, flawless skin, and new cars that appeared the day they turned sixteen. They had the power to make or break someone's high school experience, and for the longest time, Cheyenne Clough found herself under their scrutinizing gaze.Cheyenne wasn't a part of the popular crowd, nor was she an outcast. She floated somewhere in between, a girl who could get along with everyone but didn't need to be the center of attention. At just fifteen, Cheyenne discovered she was pregnant. At odds with her mother over how to raise the child, Cheyenne made the bold decision to move out. She found a small apartment in Maple Lake, determined to build a life for herself. Her new living situation came with its own set of complications, but at least she had a support system. Her roommates were Callie Anderson, a 19-year-old with a warrant out for arrest, and Natasha Brandenburger, a 33-year-old nurse and tattoo artist. Cheyenne felt like she had found a new family. The three women—along with their boyfriends—shared the apartment, and for the first time in a long time, Cheyenne felt safe. She felt supported. She finally belonged. But as time went on, cracks began to form in this new family dynamic.Sources: https://www.investigationdiscovery.com/video/mean-girl-murders-investigation-discovery-atve-us/minnesota-vicioushttps://maplelakemessenger.com/2018/06/benson-jensen-get-40-years-for-2016-murder-of-cheyenne-clough/https://www.annandaleadvocate.com/news/5927/four-charged-in-clough-murderhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=krx2qlJe-hUSend us a textEmail Residue: residuepodcast@gmail.comFind RESIDUE online:Instagram: @residuepodcastTik Tok: @residuepodcast Facebook: Residue:A True Crime Podcast Credits: RESIDUE is Hosted/Produced/Researched/Edited by Chrissy Champagne THEME SONG: "Dance Of Death" by Purple Planet Music collection written and performed by Chris Martyn and Geoff Harvey. Today's guest is The Queen Bee herself, Ms. Dani Wallace! Dani is a speaking coach who runs the I Am The Queen Bee community and The Big Festoon event. She delivers confidence. She delivers encouragement. She delivers badassery. But what she truly delivers, at the root of all she does, is to deliver the message that success can feel safe. Her event, The Big Festoon, certainly does that. Her community does that. She's even got a documentary film, “The Festoon Effect,” about what she does and the message she's spreading.Dani definitely comes across as someone who is fully confident in the value of her own message and in her own authority to do what she's doing out here–but, as you'll hear, she's just like the rest of us deep down. She experiences self-doubt and energetic crashes. But she also recognizes the importance of the message she's here on this earth to deliver, and the empowerment the sense of community she creates brings to others. In this episode:The council estates of PrestonTraveling the world as a performerCall center trainingDomestic abuse and homelessness with two children under the age of two “Life is either going to continue happening to me or I'm going to happen to life.“Gigging singer to early live-streamer (and mascara seller!)“Show up, wise up, rise up”Safety in successSharing her learningsAn “overnight success” 10 years in the makingOvercoming daily self-doubtCreating what she needed most via The Big Festoon“I'm really famous…”Fly Anyway FoundationCollaborationsReleasing her own filmSmashing the patriarchyTelling your story while bringing actual value to the worldCreating that “joy space” that helps cement actual learningOwning her origin story without leaning on itThe one thing about Dani's energy you'd never guess!Find Dani:Instagram“The Festoon Effect” documentary❤️Get Started on Your Personal Brand Journey with a sampling of Christine's Personal Branding Questions here: https://www.gritmon.com/talkaboutmybrandSubscribe to the Let's Talk About Brand Newsletter that goes out weekly to ensure you don't miss a beat! The Adventures of Sam Spade, a popular crime drama, aired from 1946 to 1951. Howard Duff portrayed Sam Spade, a hardboiled San Francisco detective. The show featured intricate cases and compelling storytelling. William Spier, a renowned radio producer, assembled a talented writing team. Duff's distinctive voice and acting prowess brought the character to life. The show's success led to Duff's national fame. Duff eventually left the show for film opportunities, and Stephen Dunne replaced him. However, the change in voice and style affected the show's popularity, leading to its cancellation in 1951. Despite its relatively short run, The Adventures of Sam Spade left a lasting impression on the radio detective genre and is cherished by old-time radio enthusiasts.
