Mary Phillips is the owner of Phillips Window Workroom, a custom drapery and soft home furnishings workroom in Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania. Mary has been in the industry for over 40 years, first starting with upholstery with her Sister-In-Law, creating relationships with clients and vendors and then going off on her own out of the house. In 2003, Mary found a location in Chadds Ford and moved out of the house and the rest has been history! Mary has three children with her husband, Mike, a sweet dog Ruby and a huge loving family that loves spending time together and going on vacations to the beach or hanging by the pool.    Callye is 26 years old and is Mary's daughter. She grew up in and out of the workroom. When Callye was 6, Mary moved out of the house. Through the years, Callye always appreciated that her Mom was able to come to all her sporting events, and could be there when she needed her since her Mom was her own boss. After going to West Chester University, and finishing right in the pandemic in May 2020, Callye didn't quite have a game plan. She spent a year and a half nannying before deciding to join the PWW team, and just celebrated three years with them. Callye enjoys the creative process, working with customers and designers and seeing their beautiful custom work come to life. Outside of the workroom, Callye coaches volleyball and still plays, (has a boyfriend), and loves spending time with family & friends and her three beautiful nephews! (Soon to be 4).    You can find Phillips Workroom on Instagram and Facebook.   Links and Resources;

In “It's A Wonderful Life,” BEULAH BONDI played the most loving mother to JAMES STEWART. Ma Bailey is the epitome of sweetness, kindness, and supportiveness so it's quite shocking when we meet the Ma Bailey who would have existed had George Bailey not been born. She's cold, bitter, and unkind. It gives Bondi the wonderful opportunity to play two versions of the same character, which she does flawlessly. So to celebrate Mother's Day, Nan and Steve are taking a page from Bondi's playbook as they discuss the good and bad mothers of classic cinema.  SHOW NOTES:  Sources: Moms in the Movies (2014), by Richard Corliss; Actresses of a Certain Character (2007), by Axel Nissen; Irene Dunne: First Lady of Hollywood (2006), by Wes D. No matter what you might call it – Rewilding, wildscaping, backyard habitats, Acts of Restorative Kindness, Native plant habitat gardening, Homegrown National Park, Perfect Earth, 2/3rds for the Birds, or Garden for Wildlife, the concepts of Conservation + Biodiversity + our Gardens wherever they might be is not a new idea, although it is newly imperative in our world. These three concepts as a perfect trinity go back to at very least 1973 when the National Wildlife Federation kicked off its Garden for Wildlife Program. Celebrating the 50th anniversary of these programs, Cultivating Place is joined this week by Mary Phillips, since 2014 she has been the head of the NFW's garden for wildlife and certified wildlife habitat programs. In this big anniversary year, the programs are very close to realizing 300,000 cultivated wildlife habitats and gardens. Cultivating Place now has a donate button! We thank you so much for listening over the years and we hope you'll support Cultivating Place. We can't thank you enough for making it possible for this young program to grow even more of these types of conversations. Vintage Classic Radio presents the Sunday Night Playhouse, where we bring to life timeless classics from the golden age of radio between the 1930s and the 1960s. Episode Description:"Leave Her to Heaven" is a Lux radio play adapted from the novel of the same name by Ben Ames Williams. The play was broadcast on March 17, 1947, and starred Gene Tierney as the lead character, Ellen Berent. The story follows the beautiful and possessive Ellen, who marries a successful writer named Richard Harland (played by Cornell Wilde) after a brief courtship. However, Ellen's obsession with Richard soon turns dark, as she becomes jealous of anyone who gets close to him, including his disabled younger brother (Darryl Hickman) and Ellen's own cousin (Vincent Price). Eventually, Ellen's desire for control leads her to commit a shocking act of violence. The Lux radio play adaptation of "Leave Her to Heaven" was notable for its star-studded cast, which also included Jeanne Crain as Richard's new love interest, Mary Phillips as Ellen's mother, and Ray Collins as the district attorney. The play was directed by William Keighley and adapted for radio by Milton Geiger. "Leave Her to Heaven" was originally released as a film in 1945, with Tierney reprising her role as Ellen Berent. The film was a critical and commercial success, and Tierney's performance was particularly praised. The Lux radio play adaptation aimed to capitalize on the popularity of the film and Tierney's star power. Interestingly, "Leave Her to Heaven" was one of several Lux radio plays that Tierney starred in during the late 1940s. Broadcast date: March 17th, 1947 Home station: CBS Cast: Gene Tierney as Ellen Berent Harland Cornell Wilde as Richard Harland Jeanne Crain as Ruth Berent Vincent Price as Russell Quinton Mary Philips as Mrs. Berent Darryl Hickman as Danny Harland Ray Collins as District Attorney Wally Maher as Detective All actors were known for their work in film, theater, and radio during the 1940s. Gene Tierney, in particular, was a popular leading lady in Hollywood at the time, known for her beauty and talent. Cornell Wilde was a rising star who would later become a successful director, while Vincent Price became famous for his work in horror films. The Lux Radio Theatre was known for its high production values and ability to attract top Hollywood talent, making it a popular destination for actors and audiences alike.

This week on the Down the Garden Path podcast, landscape designers Matthew Dressing and Joanne Shaw are joined by Mary Phillips, Head of Garden for Wildlife™ at the National Wildlife Federation. Mary discusses the Federation's wonderful initiatives and shares how we can play a part in growing a bright future for the monarch butterfly and many other iconic native wildlife species. About Mary Phillips For eight years, Mary has led Garden for Wildlife™ and Certified Wildlife Habitat® as an ambassador for native plants. Her work ensures all habitat programs and resources are rooted in sustainable practices and the latest science. Since 1977, Garden for Wildlife has been the nation's oldest and largest Backyard Habitat program generating and supporting millions of wildlife gardeners in North America. Most recently, Mary helped launch the Garden for Wildlife Native Plants Collection™. The goal of this social enterprise is to increase the native plant supply, reduce carbon impacts, and secure the survival of iconic species, such as the monarch butterfly, native bees, and songbirds. The pilot launch in 2021, resulted in over 4,000 native plant collections sold in five months, 237,000 sq ft. of new garden habitat. Join Joanne and Matt as they welcome Mary Phillips, Head of Garden for Wildlife™ at the National Wildlife Federation. Here are some of the questions and topics covered in this episode: Tell us more about the Garden for Wildlife organization. Can you describe the different habitat programs you have? What are your native plant collections? There are so many native plants which are not available to gardeners and the public. How is the Garden for Wildlife Native Plants Collection™ increasing the native plant supply? How do you know which collection is right for you? Can you describe how someone's garden becomes a Certified Wildlife Habitat?  Can Canadians get certified? Do you ship to Canada? Do you sell seeds? Monarch butterflies What makes a species iconic? Can you share with us what is happening with the monarch? Why are they getting so much attention this summer? What should we all know about the life cycle of the monarch? There is so much we can be doing to restore the native habitats for monarchs and other native wildlife populations. If we could do one thing after the show to help monarchs, what would you recommend? How do we get involved with native plants? Do you work with any Canadian wildlife organizations? In April, 2017, Governor Asa Hutchins set execution dates for eight men on Arkansas death row. The primary reason for the governor's decision was that each of the inmates had exhausted their state and federal post-conviction remedies. In the media, the sole reason given was that the state's supply of lethal injection drugs was about to expire. Jack Harold Jones, Jr. was one of those inmates. Jones was convicted and sentenced to death for the June 6, 1995 brutal rape, beating and strangulation of 34-year old Mary Phillips and the brutal beating of her 11-year old daughter, Lacy. We'll talk about the case against Jones, his trial, direct appeal and post-conviction process. We'll also talk about the prior murders committed by Jones, who was eventually linked to victims via cold case DNA hits. Finally, we'll discuss the controversy surrounding the multiple execution dates set by Governor Hutchison and Jones' posthumous confession to a third woman's murder in Broward County, Florida and the exoneration of Ronald Stewart, who pled guilty to the murder committed by Jones to avoid the death penalty.

Fulfilling Life’s Yearnings Is Being Comfortable with Where You Are & Not Wasting Time On Things That You Do Not Have. - Mary Phillips Carlson What’s up FLY Zone, Today I have Mary Phillips Carlson joining me on the show and we had enjoyable conversation about her personal and professional life. I’ll let you in on a little secret… This was her first time being on a podcast and she did great. Mary told me that when I first reached out to her to be on the show, she said she was confronted with her comfort zone and wasn’t sure if she wanted to come on, but she stepped out of it and said yes.   It was interesting to hear how Mary took control to get to where she is in life. What I enjoyed about Mary was her candidness, her willingness to share her vulnerabilities, and her detailed discussion of the values important to her when looking for a profession. Before you dive in, let me tell you a little bit about Mary. Ma --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/blake-soulet/support
