Peter and Nathan watched this movie so you don't have to! It's time for a deep cut... We're talking about the 1970 film version of Alan Jay Lerner and Burton Lane's very strange musical, On A Clear Day You Can See Forever – a show about a psychiatrist with terrible boundaries. We talk about: ESP: Is there a meaningful distinction between extrasensory perception and Christian conceptions of spirituality and prayer? Reincarnation: We talk about the case of Bridey Murphy, the 19th-century Irishwoman who was purportedly reincarnated as a 20th century American housewife. What are we supposed to believe about the afterlife? Grief: So many conversations about the afterlife happen in the context of death & grief. Does profound grief open us up to alternate conceptions of the universe in a way that can be helpful – or is that simply our emotions talking? Clothes: Always the clothes. The Cecil Beaton gowns! The turbans! Be still, our hearts! You'll hear: Yves Montand, Barbra Streisand and the cast of the film singing "Come Back To Me," "Love With All The Trimmings" and "On A Clear Day You Can See Forever" as well as the Peddlers' version of the film's title song. Ivorian singer/songwriter Peter One released his first album, Our Garden Needs Its Flowers, with Jess Sah Bi in 1985. A 2018 reissue in the U.S turned it into something of a country-folk classic, and now the Nashville-based artist is out with his major label solo debut, Come Back To Me. One joins us to discuss the album and perform in the studio

The Chantoozies had enjoyed an amazing run from their inception to the release of their debut album, but behind the hit singles and high rotation music videos, tensions were simmering. A split down gender lines developed — a situation that was exacerbated by a relentless touring schedule and some members not feeling they had enough say. The band members talk candidly about their disagreements and artistic differences, as well as the romances that existed between Eve and Brett, and Angie and David. Tottie and Scott also explain their reasons for leaving the band ahead of 1989 single "Come Back To Me", while David reveals what motivated him to quit after that track's release. Then, we hear about the decision to sack Brett and Frank, and reconfigure as a three-piece girl group. After all the upheaval, the new-look band scored a welcome hit in 1991 with a remake of "Love The One You're With", but split within a year. Reunions followed in the decades since, and these days, Ally and Eve keep the Chantoozies name alive as a duo.Bonus material at chartbeats.com.au/aussieTwitter: @ChartBeatsAU, @TurnAroundOnJoyInstagram: @chartbeatsau, @joyturnbeataroundEmail: chartbeats.au@gmail.com

He joins me to discuss his latest track, Come Back to Me, and his journey in music. Thanks for joining me, Indigo. [00:00:15] The Indiigo Child: Good afternoon, Mason. How are you doing? [00:00:17] Mason Paine: I'm doing pretty good, man. Thanks for coming on. I appreciate you taking time out from your day for doing this. I want to start out with, like, what what got you into being a DJ? [00:00:27] The Indiigo Child: Let me clarify all the DJs out there because there's some amazing DJs. That's what they do. I'm more so I kind of DJ my own music. It's kind of a cheat code. But yeah, obviously in electronic music, we DJ our own music and stuff like that. But, yeah, I've been into it since, like, the 90s. Some of the classes that came out during that time that inspired me, I really got into it. Gigi diagosinois to yours. Are you familiar with that song? [00:01:02] Mason Paine: No, I'm not. [00:01:03] The Indiigo Child: Yeah, they actually feature that song in a movie called Uncut Gems for Adam Sandler. It's at the very end. It's the last track that plays in the credits. That was like my first dance song. That was like, oh, I liked it. I think I want to make this. You should definitely check it out. I'm sure you're familiar with song already. And then stardust dad punk. So all those artists as I was growing up in the was like, oh, that was like inspiration for me to really get into dance music and gabba a little bit in DJing. I had to get more into it later on in life because obviously, dance music, you got to be able to play everything. You got to learn how to do all the technical stuff. But, yeah, I try to think of myself more than just DJ. [00:01:55] Mason Paine: Yeah, that's interesting too, because I read that you worked with a lot of hip hop and rap artists. How did that come about? [00:02:01] The Indiigo Child: I started my life in Jersey City, Newark, New Jersey, and those areas in the tristate area. And surprisingly, when I was coming up, obviously, New York, New Jersey, tristate is very hip hop oriented. That's the biggest culture out there. And I was very fortunate. I grew up in a place called Summit Plaza in Jersey City, and one of my neighbors was AKON, and they lived in my plaza, so they were a lot older than me. But I got a chance to go to their studio and see some of AKON producers. And I got to meet AKON probably twice. I was around those folks and a lot of rappers. So that's how I got into hip hop. That was my first start into producing, making tracks. I started posting videos online of me making hip hop tracks. I was really inspired by a lot of the producers that were making tracks online. The MPC sampling. It's kind of how that way it was the beginning of me getting serious with music. [00:03:18] Mason Paine: Now, I know for many producers that I know personally, when they do tracks for hip hop or rap artists, there's a lot of sampling from disco, maybe like 70s or 80s pop, even some funk in there. Has that spilled over into how you do music now? [00:03:38] The Indiigo Child: Yeah, absolutely. I mean, right now, like my latest track Come Back to Me,

In 1989, four young, energetic performers crashed onto the Australian chart with their debut single, "Say Goodbye" — an instantly catchy piece of synthpop that took them into the top 10. One of the first signings to Molly Meldrum's Melodian Records, Indecent Obsession had the good looks that saw them regularly in the pages of Smash Hits and the killer hooks that made for some great pop tunes. But even though their second single, "Tell Me Something", was another hit in Australia and broke internationally, the band struggled to be accepted by the rock-obsessed local music industry and to gain radio support. The band's original lead singer David Dixon talks about Indecent Obsession's initial success in all corners of the globe, the disastrous front cover of debut album Spoken Words, the disappointing performance of big ballad "Come Back To Me" and the process of recording second album Indio. He also reveals why he left the band in 1993 and explains what became of his short-lived solo career.
This wonderful week is a Ray Bradbury story that aired on the Mollé Mystery Theater, the drama is titled - Killer, Come Back To Me. GERRY KING writes autobiographical fiction – commonly referred to as auto-fiction. Amongst other writings, he is the author of Lubin Tales and Smoke and Other Tales. His most recent book published by Tangent Books in September 2021 is entitled Come Back To Me, Then Go Away. Gerry was born in Battersea (south London) and spent his early years there, Surrey and then Torquay. His father is the famous 1950s boxer known as the Torquay Tornado. Gerry's teenage years were dominated by drink and drugs, a time in Borstal, a further time of drugs and crime before finally disengaging himself from addiction through fate, chance and his interest in writing, poetry and the arts. Gerry believes that “if you are going to change, there's got to be some honesty”. Some people find change through self-help groups, he found it through art and writing. Even while in Borstal he had the opportunity to learn a skill but there was always the lure of drink and drugs. His goal every day was to get out of it, to function but it is always easier to stay the same than to change but he had a kind of “blind faith” that it would get better. He looks back now and reflects, “I cannot believe how stupid I was!” This is Gerry's story of London, the world and life as we spend the first half of the podcast walking and talking from Liverpool St Station to Petticoat Lane and to his home. The second half of the podcast takes place in his council flat in the area where it is said that “if you have your foot in the gutter you are in Tower Hamlets, and if you have your foot on the pavement you are in the City” TO GET IN CONTACT WITH GERRY AND BUY HIS BOOKS: Email: GerardKing@gmail.com Facebook @stealerant BUY his Books from Tangent Books: www.tangentbooks.co.uk Instagram: @gerrykingthewriter MORE ABOUT GERRY here: www.zerolubin.wordpress.com TO KNOW MORE ABOUT YOUR PODCAST HOST: www.travellingthrough.co.uk THANKS AS ALWAYS TO MARISKA @mariskamartina for creating the PODCAST JINGLE

Paul Leyden and Face2Face host David Peck talk about his laugh out loud, fun new film Chick Fight, empowerment, fighting back, losing his soul, why tuna, toast and baked beans are so important to him.TrailerAvailable On Demand and DigitalSynopsis:Chick Fight follows Anna (Malin Akerman) as she navigates a particularly challenging juncture in her life: she still hasn’t reconciled with the recent death of her adored mother, she’s just discovered that her loving and supportive father is gay (which she totally supports, but the deception cuts deep), and she accidentally burns down her uninsured coffee shop when she discovers a casually thrown joint and a spilled bottle of moonshine don’t exactly mix.Knowing Anna needs to be abruptly shaken and stirred from her deep funk, her best friend Charleen (Dulcé Sloan) takes Anna to an all women underground fight club. It's here that Anna encounters an eclectic cast of characters, including the intimidatingly perfect and most brutally efficient fighter of the club, Olivia (Bella Thorne), who quickly becomes a rival in and out of the ring. With the help of an eccentric and reclusive trainer Jack Murphy (Alec Baldwin), Anna slowly rediscovers herself, her inner strength and true purpose in the most primal of ways.About Paul:After graduating from Australia’s most prestigious drama school, NIDA (National Institute of Dramatic Arts), Paul worked as an actor in many lead roles in both mini-series and television. As a screenwriter, he co-wrote and co-produced the Joel Silver/Dark Castle produced ‘The Factory’, a dark psychological thriller starring John Cusack and Jennifer Carpenter. In “Come Back to Me,” we will seek to unpack the gospel message in a collection of books you’ve probably always skipped right over—the Minor Prophets. We often think of the Minor Prophets as books of judgment. But they also paint a picture of a God whose scandalous love never stops pursuing the very people who broke his heart. God invites us: “Come Back to Me!”

Funky Pearls vol 782 special Rena Scott Rena Scott was inducted into the R&B Hall on August 21st, 2016 in Detroit, Michigan along with Smoky Robinson, Dione Warwick, Kathy Hughes and many more. Rena has a new Hot Single “A LOVE THANG” Remix Soulful Jazzy BM Remix that released on February 25th, 2017 in the Netherlands as a soulful dance song. The song is written by the talented Lloyd Tolbert and Rena Scott is now soulfully remixed at TheRoomRecordings here in Holland. The song A Love Thang received a Grammy nomination in 2005 for Best New R&B Album in the Urban Adult Contemporary Category. It is time to do a new release of this major hit. She is pushing her legacy and music forward with her experiences toward the young and the gifted singers, writers and producers. With her new release single ‘A Love Thang’ Rena also reaches out to her fans here in Europe. Rena Scott performs with several new young and established artists, producers creating the musical bridge towards the future. She has 3 new single releases. They are remixes of her classic Hit “Remember” on the Room Recordings Label released on September 16th, 2016. Her first Christmas song “Christmas Time Is Here” was released on Nov 17th, 2016. Starting out at age 12 in her hometown Detroit, singing for local Baptist congregations, singer Rena Scott entered her first major talent contest at age 13. Soon afterwards came her very first record. "I Just Can't Forget That Boy" at the age of 15. She blossomed as a performer, and began playing two or three gigs a night on weekends at local nightclubs. She opened for many of the Motown acts like The Temptations, The Four Tops, The Originals and many other popular artists. When the "Queen of Soul" Aretha Franklin (also a native Detroiter) needed a third backup singer for a few gigs, the then 18 year old Scott got her million-to-one shot at singing on stage with her idol at the Pine Knob Ski Resort in Northern Michigan, and more importantly, in front of thousands at Carnegie Hall! In those days, she patterned her own singing after her. Scott then started working to develop her own style as she listened to other artists like Patti Labelle, Gladys Knight, and Barbra Streisand. She emerged with a unique sound. Having had that one night experience at Carnegie, Scott vowed she would return there someday to perform. Scott began recording and/or touring with such greats as The Jazz Crusaders, David Ruffin, Bobby Womack, Phil Perry, Ronnie Mc Neir and Michael Henderson (with whom she recorded the smash hit "Take Me I'm Yours" from Henderson's album "In The Nighttime" in 1979) With her growing years of experience and popularity, Scott wowed many thousands in other places; first the nightclubs in Detroit, then later in Los Angeles. She toured in the 80's with The Crusaders, and came on board with founding Crusaders members Joe Sample, Wilton Felder and Stix Hooper after the departure of Randy Crawford, performing their 1979 pop hit "Street Life" performing for crowds of up to 50,000 people, touring top R & B and Jazz festivals in the U.S. and Europe that included the famous Montrose Jazz Festival in Montrose Switzerland.. While she's always made her living singing in clubs, singing backup, performing with legendary figures and doing jingles for companies like Levi's 501 Jeans and Sunny Delight, the stop and start nature of Scott's own solo recording career has made for an intense emotional roller coaster. After touring with Michael Henderson on the strength of their hit single “Take Me I’m Yours’s” in 1978, Henderson's record company Buddha Records signed her to a record deal. She recorded the half disco, half R&B ballad album titled `Come on Inside'. The album was produced by the powerhouse R&B team Mtume and Reggie Lucas, former jazz musicians who had scored pop hits for Stephanie Mills, Roberta Flack & Donnie Hathaway, Phyllis Hyman and Lou Rawls. After the record company folded, she left Detroit for a short stop in Las Vegas where she did shows at Caesar's Palace and the Landmark Hotel. She then decided to settle in Los Angeles to seek new recording opportunities. Before hooking up with The Crusaders, she had started writing songs with veteran producer and songwriter Skip Scarborough who wrote songs for LTD, Anita Baker, Earth, Wind & Fire and many other artists. In 1989 Scott re-emerged on Sedona Records with the album `Love Zone', from which the first single "Do That To Me One More Time" hit the Billboard R&B Singles chart. The follow-up "I Could Use A Kiss", which became her first video, also received extensive airplay. Soon after, she once again fell victim to label traumas. There were three failed deals in all before Rena started her own independent label, Amor Records. She started a fruitful creative song writing relationship with songwriter/producer Lloyd Tolbert, and emerged her label debut album, `Let Me Love You', distributed by KES Distribution. It showcased Scott on the sultry title track as right at home; singing soulfully about that first spark of romance. Yet the seductive invitation taps into something much deeper, reflecting the passion of her relationship to audiences worldwide over a fascinating musical lifetime. That same track "Let Me Love You" was featured in two key scenes of the HBO Cinemax film `Love and Action in Chicago', starring Courtney Vance, Regina King, Kathleen Turner and Ed Asner. I hope to inspire others whose dreams are as vast as mine." She eventually plans to write a book and maybe even make a movie about her life. The musical trials and tribulations, as well as the triumphs, including the early years in Detroit experiencing her parent’s violent marriage. Rena is now an advocate against domestic violence. Rena’s CD "Take Me Away" was released October 26th 2010. The 13-song set contains songs that Scott co-wrote and co-produced with Tolbert. It includes covers of some of her all-time favorites like Joy And Pain and "Don't Ask My Neighbors". Rena is excited to work with Producer Lloyd Tolbert once again. She is working on her new single “Until you Come Back To Me” a remake of her mentor Aretha Franklin to be released in March, 2017. She working another Christmas song and Track she wrote with the late great Skip Scarbough. It features all the original Jazz Crusaders playing on it. stay tuned for her up and coming tour to a city near you called “Rena Scott Sings Motown” with the talent, the drive, and the passion to continue rising to the top!

Welcome the newest episode of Dark Discussions, your place for the discussion of horror film, fiction, and all that’s fantastic. As usual, every year, there are a bunch of horror and genre films that suddenly appear that weren't on anyone's radar. When making lists of films that are must-sees, it's always the big budget films or sleepers that have been playing festival circuits that come up, but every so often a little unknown film starts getting buzz and usually for the right reasons. 2014's Come Back To Me was one of those films. Directed by Paul Leyden and based off a small press book entitled The Resurrectionist authored by Wrath James White, the film suddenly appeared on Netflix and generated a bit of discussion on the internet. The story takes place in Las Vegas, Nevada, about a young married couple named Sarah and Josh. Soon a new neighbor moves in next door, a quiet and apparently harmless young man named Dale. As the stress of starting a family and graduating from a Master's program at college, Sarah begins to get night terrors that simply won't go away. With the help of her pregnant friend, Leslie, a general practitioner, she tries to work out her issues only to discover that there may be a more disturbing source for her dilemma. After an uneventful night here in Fulton County, the rain has subsided. Happily, there are no tornados to report but we did get a lot of lightning and thunder. Several areas reported high winds and hail, but we were spared mother natures wrath. Seems to me when I posted last year's Spring Edition, we had similar circumstances. Though at that time there was a tornado downtown and you could see it on TV. The warning sirens went off to take cover, but Rick and I just sat there and watched it all unfold on the tube. Of course, it was a couple of miles away, so we didn't have cause for concern despite the loud sirens. Thankfully nothing happened this go around so I can bring you the second installment. This set is jam-packed with some smoking hot tunes. I've got to say that Yoko Ono has become quite the club diva. It seems that ever since the classic "Walking On Thin Ice" was fabulously remixed by Danny Tenaglia (among several others) we have been treated to a new mix at least once a year. I don't know what it is about her since she never sold records amounting to anything and let's face it, she can't sing. Nevertheless, the minute a DJ gets a hold on one of her songs, they somehow manage to work miracles. The Craig C (not to be confused with Craig J which I often do) mix is smoldering. We also get a follow-up to last years re-work of "Hot Shot" by Karen Young titled "Rendezvous With Me". As many of you know, Karen had a number one disco hit in 1978 with the latter and the story behind this song was that it was supposed to be the follow-up, but was never released. Instead, they released a track called "Bring On the Boys" which no doubt may end up being re-worked as well. In the meantime, MaxRoxx ripped this puppy apart with the original vocals intact. Just listen and you'll be blown away by how magnificent of a singer Karen really was. Equally exciting is Razor 'n' Guido's return to the scene. I was all excited last year when the unauthorized remix of Britney's "Break the Ice" surfaced by the duo. It didn't just signal a return, but a return to true form. These guys know how to rock it out and "Get Up Stand Up" proves it. I expect more great things from them this year. Finally, I've got the Tony Moran remix of Utada's "Come Back To Me". You might remember the equally hot Seamus Haji mix I used in my last BPM edition. To me, this reminds me a great deal of what Tony did with Rihanna's "Unfaithful" a few years back. Re-working a ballad for the floor can be daunting, but doesn't have to be, and this song proves it. In fact, I'd say it works in spades. Right now, I just need to get out and move around. The sun broke through temporarily this morning, but we're now back in clouds with somewhat cooler temps. I hope everyone's having fun this holiday weekend. I'll be back tomorrow with the final take on spring. Until then.enjoy! Okay folks, we're going to be moving into high gear for the month of April. I admit I've been behind, okay derelict in my duties of staying on top of the music. Though it took several days to complete, I finally got everything organized earlier this week. Over a 1,000+ songs later, I separated anything I thought I would use four folders including BPM, T-Dance, Spring Edition and System. There's more than enough new stuff to satisfy almost any taste. Starting with the third installment of the BPM edition, I will roll out a new mix in each category throughout the month. Next week, I'll have the long overdue Spring Edition, just in time for Easter. I expect this will not be an easy task as I've got a lot my plate this month, but I'll do my best to get everything released in a timely fashion so as not to get behind again. Initially, I had four demos complete for this series; then I went back and consolidated much of it into two final mixes. Frankly, coming hot off of WMC, I haven't been all that impressed which made the editing process fairly easy. That's not to say that the music contained in these two mixes are bad because they're not. I'm just not hearing anything mind-blowing at the moment. Some of the highlights in this take are a couple of 90s classic re-hash from Pronto (Gonna Make U Sweat) and Crystal Waters (Gypsy Woman). Both have been updated for today's floors quite well. I did take off half a star for "Gypsy Woman" because Tristan removed the La Da Di La Di Da from the song, which is damn near blasphemous. Though completely fresh, another throwback comes from the genius of Bob Sinclar. His collaboration with the Sugarhill Gang (a hip hop the hippie the hippie to the hip hip hop, a you don't stop the rock it to the bang bang boogie say up jumped the boogie to the rhythm of the boogie the beat) is nothing short of brilliant and complete fun. Maybe it was the "ooah ooah" that got me, I don't know, but I sure love this song. We also have the long overdue remix of Kelly's "My Life Would Suck Without You" by Chriss Ortega, which is just as excellent as the original. Thankfully, no Jason Nevins mixes this time around, which would have been an obvious choice. Another song I had been waiting for since the radio edits came out in February is by American born Japanese artist Utada. Internationally, this girl is well known and has had massive success everywhere but here. It's a shame because she is very talented. In its original form, her new song "Come Back To Me" is a total break down tear-jerker. Seamus Haji works his magic much like he did on Mariah's "Touch My Body" to great effect. Also look out for the Tony Moran mix (think Rihanna's "Unfaithful") of this great song to appear on next week's Spring Edition. For the most part, if you're a fan of the BPM edition, you'll love this mix. There really isn't a bad tune here, just several mediocre. I think you'll thank me for my editing decisions. I mean Britney's "If U Seek Amy" is pure junior high. It's immature, lame and doesn't even fit within the context of the song. So if you were hoping for that, it's not here nor will it be in future releases. The rest of the songs that deservedly got the ax put mediocrity to shame. That's about all I got for today. Looking out my window, I see that our channel 9 meteorologist is once again way off her prediction. After two weeks of rain, we were supposed to have a nice sunny day today. Instead, it's still very much overcast. I am praying for some sunshine tomorrow so Rick and I can get out and enjoy ourselves. I'll be back early Saturday with the second part. Until then.enjoy!
