TALK TO ME, TEXT ITSeven years, dozens of pivots, and a community that turned quotes into running jokes—this final chapter brings it all together with candor and a wink. We open the notebook on how a mother–daughter experiment called More Remarks grew into An Americanist, why the blog faded while the mic stayed hot, and what it really takes to keep an indie show alive when life changes and budgets tighten. The decision to archive isn't a surrender; it's a thoughtful choice about energy, cost, and what deserves space as we move forward. We pull back the curtain on the tech and tactics that made a phone-recorded show sound clean enough to ship, and why Buzzsprout earned our trust through years of reliable support, quick replies, and clear communication—even in the face of a security scare. If you're weighing hosting options, tiers, or mastering upgrades, you'll get the unvarnished take on what's worth paying for and when a free plan with a 90-day window makes more sense for a casual side project like Brood Awakening.Of course, the feed wouldn't sign off without a few stories. We unpack the headline-grabber about Burger King inviting customers to call the company president directly, ask how long a stunt like that can sustain real replies, and what “customer-centric” means when the phone won't stop ringing. Then we wade into tipping culture with a Dear Abby spark: should prompts pop up at drive-thrus, and how should we think about service, pressure, and value in a tight economy? Expect strong opinions, practical nuance, and a few laughs along the way.We end where the best conversations often do—with comedy. Tonight's plan to catch Joe Machi leads to a parting question that belongs to everyone: who's the greatest comedian of all time? If you can't crown one, give us your top three. Hit play, join the farewell, and help us keep the spirit alive—subscribe to Brood Awakening, share this send-off with a friend, and leave a review with your comedy Mount Rushmore.Buzzsprout - Let's get your podcast launched!Start for FREE Thanks for listening! ✨ If you are new to EFT Tapping Download the free guide here. This EFT meditation is designed for moments of anxiety, mental overwhelm, or when your thoughts feel like they are moving faster than you can keep up. We begin tapping right away and move through 4 intentional rounds, using affirmations that help you recognize what you are feeling, allow it to be there without resistance, and gently guide your mind and body into a calmer, more regulated state. EFT Tapping works by combining light acupressure with focused awareness. As you tap on specific points, you send signals of safety to the brain, helping to reduce the stress response and regulate the nervous system. This can lower emotional intensity, slow racing thoughts, and create space for clarity without needing to “fix” anything. This practice focuses on meeting yourself where you are, letting your body settle naturally, and allowing calm to return on its own - without forcing anything. A perfect way to step out of the cycle of overthinking and back into your body & into the present. With love, Jo
I want to share say thank you to my angels with wings followers for listening to my podcast
☕️ This meditation is a little different than what we usually do. It's an invitation into comfort, warmth, and slowing down in a way that feels genuinely nourishing. This practice is perfect for moments when you need a soft landing. You're encouraged to make this meditation your own. That might look like a warm beverage, cozy clothes, dim lighting, or simply settling into a space that feels safe and easy for you. We begin this practice with gentle movement followed by stillness, but as always, only do what feels comfortable and supportive for you. There is no right way to experience it. Just meet yourself where you are and let comfort unfold naturally. With love, Jo
Parents are no longer teaching their children these "old-fashioned" habits, like saying "thank you."
☁️This practice is one of my recent favorite breathing techniques for calming the nervous system quickly and effectively. The physiological sigh (also known as cyclic sighing) involves two inhales through the nose, followed by a slow extended exhale through the mouth. It's a simple yet powerful way to bring your body back into a state of regulation. This is a great practice if you're feeling anxious, overstimulated, overwhelmed, or just needing to come back into your body. Read more about Cyclic Sighing here. This breathwork practice is intended for educational and relaxation purposes only and is not a substitute for medical or mental health care. If you have any respiratory, cardiovascular, or medical conditions, or if you experience dizziness, discomfort, or distress at any point, discontinue the practice and consult a qualified healthcare professional. With love, Jo

New Bruno Mars music is coming! The Palisades wildfires were exactly 1 year ago, and now Spencer Pratt is running for mayor. What should we really be doing to stay healthy as we age? Plus, a lot of nonsense, giggles, and a totally fair game.
➰With the end of the year upon us, this meditation is a perfect practice to offer ourselves closure, acceptance, and conscious release, and simultaneously, renewal. It allows us to honor what has been, make peace with what remains unresolved, and create space for what is ready to come next. This is an active meditation, inviting you to gently reflect and meet whatever arises with honesty and acceptance. This meditation is a timeless practice that can be used at the close of any chapter - a season, a relationship, a phase of life, etc. At the end of the meditation, you'll be offered an additional five minutes of uninterrupted space to rest, reflect, or continue integrating, if you choose. With love, Jo

LEARNING TO SAY THANK YOU IS A VERY IMPORTANT LIFESTYLE OF AN TRUE CHRISTIAN...BE BLESSED
Paul's instruction in 1 Thessalonians 5:18 to give thanks 'in everything' doesn't mean being grateful for every situation, but finding reasons to thank God while in difficult circumstances. Gratitude is God's will for every believer and should be our offering to Him through the fruit of our lips. Modern brain science confirms that practicing gratitude releases feel-good neurotransmitters, reduces stress hormones, and can actually repair brain tissue. When we anchor ourselves in appreciation both toward God and others, we align with His will and position ourselves for abundant living. The challenge is to become a 'thanker' rather than just a 'thinker' by expressing gratitude daily to God and the people in our lives.
✨ This meditation is a gentle return to what is real: complete and total presence. It is so easy to be pulled into the future by our goals and desires, or tangled in memories of the past. This practice guides you back into the only thing that truly exists: right now. Here, we soften into acceptance. We practice meeting life exactly as it is, without pressure or resistance, and allow ourselves to feel eternally supported by this moment. With love, Jo

Pastor Andy Thompson teaches about the importance of returning to God with gratitude. God is always moving, and those who need Him must pursue Him and align with His direction, recognizing that healing often happens along the journey rather than at a final destination. When breakthrough comes, there is a sacred obligation to come back and acknowledge that the power was not within ourselves but from the Lord, and the instructions received in brokenness may differ from the instructions needed in wholeness. True worship flows from understanding that we owe God our praise, our hallelujah, and our testimony because without Him, nothing would be possible.
