In Part 3 of our series, John, Blaine, and Allen bring two streams together: 1) how followers of Jesus handle crisis, and 2) observable, accelerating trends of God. To remain strong and rooted in the face of growing chaos, we must retrain our souls to see, above all else, how God's activity saturates the various parts of our lives and world events—and how this understanding of reenchantment reveals the return of a meaningful universe.Show Notes: 1) Follow Blaine's writings on Substack at https://blaineeldredge.substack.com/ 2) The ocean photograph, featured in a Patagonia article, is by David Doubilet 3) Songs for a worship playlist include:- City of God by Steffany Gretzinger, kalley - The Narrow Way by Steffany Gretzinger - Holy by Steffany Gretzinger- His Name is Jesus (Live) by Jeremy Riddle- Vision of Your Love - by Mission House, Jess Ray, Taylor Leonhardt- Poor In Spirit (Live) by Eliza King, Brett ShawSpotify Playlist here4) Read the unedited chapter of John's upcoming book (Experience Jesus. As we spend the week focusing on drawing near to God this Christmas season, today we'll explore a fun concept. Every morning is like Christmas morning when you know and walk with God. God is so, so good. And he desires for us to walk in the gifts of his goodness all the days of our lives. May we reorient our thinking so that each morning with God is more exciting than the next as we experience afresh his love and kindness. Our Scripture for today comes from Lamentations 3:22-23, and today's worship is Morning Song by Steffany Gretzinger. Thanks for listening to today's podcast, the second in our week-long focus on drawing near to God. As you go about your day today, what's one way you can create some space to receive gifts from God throughout your day? Maybe it's pausing for a moment at the start of every hour, taking a deep breath, and letting God in. Whatever it is, may you find joy and purpose in the gifts of God given to you out of his love for you. Have a wonderful rest of your day, and may God bless you as you seek him.
As we take a deep dive into Jesus's High Priestly prayer in John 17 this week, we will discover together the deep desires of the heart of God. Today we explore Jesus's desire to be known by his people. Isn't it amazing to think the God of the universe desires to be known intimately by you and me? What a beautiful blessing and gift he desires to give each of us. May we take hold of this gift and experience it fully today as we take a closer look. Our Scripture for today comes from John 17:3, and today's worship is Out Of Hiding by Steffany Gretzinger. Thank you so much for listening to today's podcast. Rest today in the reality that you were made for relationship. You are not what you do. Who you are is the beloved child of God. When you feel the temptation today to define yourself by your accomplishments, or to seek value from the opinion of others around you, stop and remember that you don't need approval from anyone. The point of life, of all of eternity, is relationship. Have a wonderful rest of your day, and may God bless you as you seek him.
As we near the end of our week on the parables, today we're going to look at the parable of the prodigal son. Hanging in my office is a print of Rembrandt's depiction of this biblical scene. It's hard for me to think of another passage of Scripture that produces such continual fruit in my life on a daily basis. May these words of Jesus redefine our relationship with God for the better today. Our Scripture for today comes from Luke 15:21-24, and today's worship is This Is The Sound by Steffany Gretzinger. -- Next week is Giving Tuesday, the one day a year when the world focuses on unleashing radical generosity. And what better cause is there to be radically generous about than helping people connect with God? A generous donor has offered a $25,000 Matching Grant to help reach First15's $110,287 Giving Tuesday goal. This means any gift you give today will be DOUBLED. You and I were made to connect — with others, and most importantly, with God. But many people struggle to find a devotional resource that's easy to understand and relatable to daily life. This is why First15 exists, and I assume it's why you're part of this growing community. You can give your Giving Tuesday gift and have it doubled by visiting supportfirst15.org!
What would it look like to have peace in all circumstances? I honestly can't imagine anything better. We see promises in Scripture of this peace at all times, but so few of us experience that. Why is that the case? Today we'll explore why that might be and how to walk in transcendent peace untouched by the circumstances of this world. Our Scripture for today comes from 1 Thessalonians 1:6-7, and today's worship is Blackout by Steffany Gretzinger. -- Thanks so much for listening to today's podcast. If you haven't already, make sure to subscribe to the podcast and rate and review! Your engagement really helps our ability to empower more people to experience God in a fresh way every day. And make sure to come back tomorrow where we'll look at what it means to have Peace in our Spirits. Have a great rest of your day, and may God bless you as you seek him.
For many, relationships can often the greatest source of joy, or be the quickest thing to rob us of peace. As we seek to walk in transcendent peace, it's vital we seek peace in life's relationships. It is vital we take the path of humility and considering others more significant than ourselves. Today we'll dive into how live in harmony with others and experience the peace of heaven in our friendships, families and work lives. Our Scripture for today comes from Colossians 3:15, and today's worship is Tell Me The Truth by Steffany Gretzinger. -- Jesus' invitation in Matthew 11 to find real rest is for YOU. First15's brand-new devotional book called Rhythms was written with you in mind. Each day of this 28-day devotional invites you to break away from your normal rhythm of waking, eating, working, and sleeping to discover a spiritual rhythm that, when practiced, will lead you into a more vibrant, abundant life in every way that matters. Jesus wasn't kidding when he said you can find rest in the midst of the craziness of life. He can give it to you, and Rhythms will guide you in that direction. We'd love to send you a copy to say thanks for your donation of $27 or more today. So please request your copy today at supportfirst15.org — and thank you for your donation to help create more content that helps more people connect with God each day!
As we continue our week of looking at Joy, we're going to take time today to receive a fresh revelation of how God rejoices over us. God not only loves you, but he likes you. He rejoices over you, just as you are. I hope and pray that you get a real, tangible sense of God's joy over you today as we create space in his presence together. Our Scripture for today comes from Zephaniah 3:17, and today's worship is This Is The Sound by Steffany Gretzinger. -- Thanks for listening to today's First15 Podcast. My name is Ryn, and I'm a part of the First15 Team. If you haven't downloaded our brand new First15 app, make sure to click the link in today's show notes to check it out! One of the new features that you can enjoy when you download the app is our Guided Prayers. We are adding new prayers to our library every month, so if you need a moment of peace with God, let these prayers be your guide!
How we view God has a direct impact on how we view Christianity. So when we think about whether Christianity is too narrow, we must first begin with what we think about God. But our understanding of who God is often comes from what we think He is like and not actually who He has revealed Himself to be through His word. Can we open ourselves up to discovering what the scriptures tell us about God's character? To learn if Christianity is truly too narrow? As we are called to the light, we are called to be fully known. Many of us shudder at the thought of complete, total vulnerability, and fall subject to the lie that we could never be fully loved if someone saw all of us. Today we'll explore why being fully known before God is so important and life-giving. May you walk away today free from shame and fear after having faced a holy God vulnerably and having encountered his unconditional love. Our Scripture for today comes from Luke 8:17, and today's worship is You Know Me by Steffany Gretzinger. -- With all the emotional and spiritual challenges of our time, one thing is clear — true peace is only found in the midst of God's presence. Yet finding that quiet space to be alone with God and receive his abounding love is not always easy. Grace is a gift most of us don't know how to receive. We've been so inundated with the earthly systems of give-and-get and work-and-earn that grace is a concept few ever fully grasp. Yet it's grace alone that has the power to transform lives. Grace alone has the power to bring freedom to the captives. By grace alone we are saved. Today we're launching a new series, taking time every day to discover and receive the grace of our good and loving Father. Our Scripture for today comes from 2 Corinthians 12:9, and today's worship is Getting There by Steffany Gretzinger. – Thanks for listening to today's podcast. As we wrap up our week on loving people, we look today at how we can love the Church as God does. Jesus says we will be known by the way we love each other. Would people know you're a Christian by the way you love your brothers and sisters? People are messy, it's true. We all are. And yet Jesus saw our worth and loved us in the midst of our messiness. How can you mimic that same love today as you seek to love his Church? Today we'll look at the perspective and affections of Jesus for his people. May our hearts and minds be transformed as a result. Our Scripture for today comes from John 13:35. Today's worship is King of my Heart by Steffany Gretzinger. -- Thank you for listening to today's podcast, the last in our week-long series titled, Love Does. And if it's been a while, rate and review the podcast so someone else can find this space we're making for God's presence. Have a wonderful rest of your day, and may God bless you as you seek him.

What would it look like to have peace in all circumstances? I honestly can't imagine anything better. We see promises in Scripture of this peace at all times, but so few of us experience that. A Light Unto My Path will answer these 7 critical questions: Why do we read the Bible? How was the Bible created? Why do we need to interpret the Bible? What is the Bible about? What are the best tools for studying the Bible? What can I learn from others? How can I learn for myself? I love that the goal of this book is not to learn more about the Bible (even though you will), but to better understand the Bible as one of the primary ways God seeks to have a relationship with us today. For many, relationships can often the greatest source of joy, or be the quickest thing to rob us of peace. As we seek to walk in transcendent peace, it's vital we seek peace in life's relationships. Today we'll dive into how live in harmony with others and experience the peace of heaven in our friendships, families and work lives.
