Pastor Brigette Kimmer dives into the bold teachings of Jesus from the Sermon on the Mount, emphasizing the choice between the world's easy road and the challenging, rewarding path of faith. Jesus urges us to embrace a life of authenticity and purpose, aligning with God's kingdom through acts like giving, praying, and forgiving. It highlights the inspiring story of Stephen, a true believer who stood firm and forgave even in the face of danger. She challenges us to ditch superficial paths and follow Jesus' transformative way, encouraging genuine commitment and reflection on our lives' true direction.

Jesus' words in this message called the Sermon on the Mount challenged the disciples to live the ways of God right where they were. The same is true today. These words show us what it truly means to pursue the ways of God in this world we live in. This is not an easy calling. There is deep, inner work required. This Sabbath we reflect on Jesus' words in Matthew 6:5-18 —words that move us towards a deep, hidden life characterized by prayer and fasting. Jesus' disciples had an idea of what God's Kingdom, i.e. "the good life" would be like. But it wasn't same picture Jesus revealed in the Sermon on the Mount. Jesus' words in this message challenged them, showing what it means to truly live pursuing the heart of God. This Sabbath we reflect on Jesus' words in Matthew 5:33-42—words that inspire us to have congruence between what's in our heart and what's lived out in our life. Jesus takes us beyond the surface, moving us to a deep life of integrity, with love as our motivation. This Sabbath, Pastor Tara VinCross will preach a message entitled: "The Narrow Way: On Keeping our Word and Getting Even."
“Love your enemies.” It's one of Jesus' most quoted commands—and one of His most misunderstood and difficult. What did Jesus really mean when He said it? Does loving our enemies mean staying silent in the face of harm? Pretending everything is okay? Agreeing with people who've wounded us? This Sabbath at Azure Hills, in a message titled "The Bridge Between Us," Pastor Daniel takes us deeper into Matthew 5:43–48, where Jesus calls us to a love that breaks boundaries—a love that refuses to play favorites, a love that isn't soft but strong, not passive but deeply intentional. Together, we'll name the false assumptions that keep us from this kind of radical love—and explore how to love the way Jesus loves. Be ready to be challenged. Be ready to see love in a new light. Because when we love like this… we show the world what God is like. Join us for live worship every Saturday at 9am and 11:45am in Grand Terrace. Let's unpack a life-transforming paradox in Jesus' teaching (Matt. 7:13-14). Jesus says that the spacious life (life that is full of peace, satisfaction, joy and more) is found by actually squeezing through the narrow gate and following Jesus on this narrow path by putting His teachings into practice. The path is difficult, uncomfortable, and even feels constricting but it's the path that actually leads to a spacious life with God here and now. Who's up for a hike?

Nicholas Jamerson is regarded as one of the finer songwriters in the current Americana, folk and country scene. His heartfelt lyrics of love, loss and lamentation born from the hills of Eastern Kentucky were the foundation of the success of Sundy Best, his award-winning band and collaboration with Kris Bentley. But after its temporary break-up/hiatus, Jamerson continued writing and recording as a solo act, often backed by the Morning Jays, his support band. He's churned out six studio and two live albums over the last decade, the newest of which, The Narrow Way, dropped June 20. It is the third album in a trilogy preceded by The Wild Frontier (2020) and Peace Mountain (2023). Jamerson joined Roots Music Rambler this week to talk about the new album, which he acknowledged is a bit meditative about life, love and loss. He also talked about his new status as an elder statesman in the folk/singer-songwriter space, how he balances projects like Sundy Best which still tours, and his past as a high school and college football star. You'll notice Jamerson repeats the notion that songs and songwriting are his “work.” We're lucky to be able to experience the craftsmanship. In the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus paints a picture of what it means to be part of the Kingdom of God —not a kingdom of violence or domination, but one of hope, marked by mercy, justice, and humble power. We will reflect on Jesus' words from Matthew 5:17-20—words that inspire us to believe in Jesus as the fulfillment of who we were made to be, and that invite us to hold onto hope for what matters most. Pastor Tara VinCross will preach a message entitled: "The Narrow Way: Fulfillment."
Counter Formed | Week 8This is a study on the Sermon on the Mount. In this series, we are learning about the ways of Jesus. As we follow Jesus, we are being counter formed out of the ways of the world and into the ways of Jesus.
In the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus paints a picture of what it means to be part of His kingdom—not a kingdom of violence or domination, but a subversive one that is marked by mercy, justice, and humble power. This Sabbath we reflect on His words from Matthew 5:13–16—words that call us to be salt and light. These are not just poetic metaphors. They are a summons. A mission. A sacred calling. Pastor Gabriel Morales will preach a message entitled: "The Narrow Way: Salt and Light."
Pastor Daniel kicks off Azure Hills' summer series "The Narrow Way" with Matthew 5:1–12—Jesus' most iconic and subversive teaching. Though it spans just three chapters (Matthew 5–7), the Sermon on the Mount completely redefines what it means to live a good life. What if blessing doesn't look like success? What if the kingdom belongs not to the strong but to the poor in spirit? In a world chasing power, applause, and performance, Jesus offers something radically different. He invites us into the narrow way—not a rigid or rule-heavy path, but the Jesus way—a way marked by mercy, honesty, courage, justice, and deep trust in a God who draws near to the broken.
This Sunday we're starting into the conclusion of the Sermon on the Mount.
In this message, Pastor Marco continues our message series on the cost of discipleship. Jesus says there are only two roads that are presented to everyone. The narrow road leads to life but the wide road leads to destruction. Those who follow Him should expect to travel the path of obedience, surrender, and trust.

Following Jesus and living the Beatitudes leads to divine life but it also leads to persecution. The final Beatitude is not limited to those who suffer violent persecution; to be rejected and ridiculed and misunderstood is part of living the Jesus way. This final beatitude comes with the same blessing as the first.
In Week 16 of our Sermon on the Mount series, Pastor Aaron McRae leads us through one of the most compelling sections of Jesus' teaching — a warning about choices, character, and counterfeit spirituality. Drawing from Matthew 7:13–29, this message explores the narrow vs. wide gate, true vs. false prophets, and the ultimate test of a life built on Jesus.Jesus calls us to a higher standard — not just external behavior but inward transformation. We're challenged to examine the voices we follow, the fruit we bear, and the foundation we build our lives upon. This sermon unpacks how to discern truth in a world full of false promises and how to recognize those who distort God's Word for selfish gain.**Big Idea: We must choose whose voice we trust to speak for God — and live accordingly. Lesson preached by Chris Brown on 04/27/2025
Have you ever felt the tension between staying true to your values and chasing visible success? I have—and I know I'm not alone. In today's The Estherpreneur's episode, I'm pulling back the curtain on what it really looks like to lead a business that honors God—not just in branding, but in the deep places where decisions are made.I'm sharing a parable that will challenge how you view success, revealing the subtle compromises we justify, and exposing how easily the world's standards creep into Kingdom work. We'll look at how Jesus defines righteousness (hint: it's not what the world applauds) and how Ecclesiastes and Proverbs offer practical, timeless wisdom for today's Christian entrepreneur. If you've been trying to build, grow, or rebuild and you're tired of feeling like you're striving without peace—this is your reminder: you don't have to choose between impact and integrity.

The Most Controversial Sermon Ever Preached - Week WiveMatthew 7:12-14Ebony Lovely
Sermon By: Pastor Roman Folia (The Gospel of Matthew pt. 23)
The Beatitudes reveal the personality and the heart of Jesus. This 5th Beatitude “Blessed are the Merciful” tells us that blessed are the ones who show loyal love and grace”Unique to this Beatitude is the fact that it is the only Beatitude where the blessing and the promise match. When we extend mercy to others this positions our being to be in a place of receiving God's mercy and healing in our lives.
The message by one of Liberty's Elders looks at what is important to God, what it means to see God and what we can do to develop a heart that is pure.
To follow Jesus means that we are invited to live in the peace that He gives us - peace with God, peace with Jesus, peace within ourselves, offering and making peace in the world around usIn this message Ps Trent looks at the difference between peacemakers and peacekeepers, as well as challenging our thinking process around managing conflict. Learn how to live with inner peace.

Here Trent looks at "What does meekness look like?" and "What does it mean to inherit the earth?" We learn that meekness means full of power, but restraining that power for the sake of love. When Jesus says the meek will inherit the earth He is directly quoting Ps 37 which is all about God's plan to elevate the poor and oppressed and the unimportant,
The Narrow Way - Gospel Portion (Luke 13:22-35): The Second Sunday in Lent 3/16/2025 by Shawn Ozbun
Pastor David Strader - 03.09.2025
.
Kendrick Diaz discusses Matthew 7:13-14—“Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it.”
Matthew 7:13-14 — “Why are Christians so narrowminded?” This is a frequent charge against Christians, but according to Dr. Martyn Lloyd-Jones, the great danger is actually when Christians in the church become broadminded. In order to curry favor with “the man of learning,” the church is cutting and trimming the gospel message. Instead Christians must embrace the narrow way, and preach the whole truth of the gospel with holy boldness. In this sermon on Matthew 7:13–14 titled “The Narrow Way,” Dr. Lloyd-Jones examines the words of Jesus Christ who taught much on the soul during His years of ministry on the earth. Dr. Lloyd-Jones gives several examples of Jesus's life and teaching where He focused on the human response to His message. The message of Jesus Christ is intimately narrow, and intensely personal so that every individual must face it alone. The narrowness of the gospel is seen most clearly in the saving work of Jesus Christ, because there is no other way of salvation. Jesus lived His whole life on earth by the narrow way, eventually leading to His death on the cross. But the narrow way ultimately leads to eternal life as seen in the risen Lord, Jesus Christ. The wide way, however, leads to destruction.
Obedience to the ways of Jesus can sound closed-minded or restrictive, but in today's episode we're breaking down that myth for good. We're delighted to have pastor Rich Villodas join us today to talk about what it looks like to live on the Narrow Path Jesus taught about, and why it creates the most expansive life you could have.
