In this stirring and deeply encouraging Advent message, Pastor Karl launches the new series The King Has Come with a powerful exploration of the first great gift Jesus brings: hope.Turning to Luke 2 and the quiet, largely forgotten figures of Simeon and Anna, Pastor Karl paints a vivid picture of two elderly saints who spent decades waiting in faithful obscurity—praying unanswered prayers, worshiping through silence, and serving without recognition. Yet the moment a 40-day-old baby was carried into the temple, their Spirit-illuminated eyes saw what the crowds missed: the long-promised Messiah, the Consolation of Israel, the Redemption of Jerusalem.Through their story, Pastor Karl reveals that biblical hope is not wishful thinking; it is the confident, unshakable expectation of future good rooted in the unchanging character and faithfulness of God. Hope grows in the hidden soil of daily faithfulness, thrives when God chooses to work in silence, and celebrates the tiny seed because it already trusts the coming harvest. Simeon and Anna never saw Jesus preach, heal, or rise from the dead—yet they held the infant King and departed in peace, because they knew who He was long before they saw what He would do.A tender yet convicting word for everyone who has waited a long time and is still waiting, prayed a long time and is still praying, and hoped a long time and is still hoping. In a season that can feel rushed and noisy, this message calls us to slow down, stay faithful, and train our eyes to recognize the presence of the King—even when He shows up wrapped in the ordinary, the small, and the seemingly insignificant.Because the King has come, hope is not dead. It is alive, resilient, and bubbling up in every heart that keeps showing up and keeps looking for Jesus. Essential listening for anyone who needs fresh hope this Christmas.Watch all our sermons on our youtube channel "Flipside Christian Church"Join us in person 9:00am & 10:30am every Sunday morning.37193 Ave 12 #3h, Madera, CA 93636For more visit us at flipside.churchFor more podcasts visit flipsidepodcasts.transistor.fm
All people will give an account for their lives before the Lord. To some, He will say, "I never knew you; depart from Me." But those who truly believe in Jesus and His finished work can rest in the certainty that He knows us and we know Him. In this sobering and soul-searching message, Pastor Karl dives deep into Matthew 5:17–48, where Jesus declares that He came not to abolish the Law but to fulfill it—and then raises the bar of righteousness far beyond anything the scribes and Pharisees ever imagined.Through six piercing examples—anger that murders the heart, lust that commits adultery in the mind, casual divorce, manipulative oaths, retaliation, and hatred disguised as justice—Jesus exposes the truth we all try to avoid: outward obedience is never enough. God judges the heart. Every single one of us stands guilty before His perfect standard.Yet the bad news is meant to drive us to the best news. Pastor Karl powerfully unpacks how Jesus' command in verse 48—“You therefore must be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect”—is not a cruel impossible demand, but the very reason the Son of God came. We cannot achieve the righteousness God requires, so God freely gives it to us through faith in Christ. Jesus took our unrighteousness and imputes His perfect righteousness to all who repent and trust Him.A hard-hitting, heart-exposing sermon that leaves no room for self-righteousness, but ends with the liberating joy of the gospel: guilty sinners can be clothed in the very righteousness of God and stand before Him as if we had never sinned. When Jesus calls His people to a narrow way of life, His calling is for our whole lives - how we use what He's given us included! The narrow way is a way of radical, irresistible generosity. Once we understand who God is and what He has done for us, a life of generosity can flow. One of Jesus' most famous parables helps us learn how we cultivate a generous heart–and how we live generously!
In this honest and weighty message kicking off the Sermon on the Mount, Pastor Karl walks through the Beatitudes—the nine “blessed are” statements that reveal the heart attitudes Jesus demands of every true disciple. From spiritual poverty and mourning over sin to meekness, insatiable hunger for righteousness, mercy, purity of heart, peacemaking, and even rejoicing in persecution, these aren't optional extras; they're the non-negotiable “be-attitudes” that must mark every citizen of God's kingdom. When these attitudes shape us, we naturally become the salt of the earth and the light of the world—distinct from culture, preserving what is decaying, and shining so brightly that others see our good works and glorify our Father in heaven. A convicting reminder that following Jesus was never meant to look like the world around us.Watch all our sermons on our youtube channel "Flipside Christian Church"Join us in person 9:00am & 10:30am every Sunday morning.37193 Ave 12 #3h, Madera, CA 93636For more visit us at flipside.churchFor more podcasts visit flipsidepodcasts.transistor.fm
The narrow way of Christ means denying yourself, taking up your cross, and following Him with your life. The post The Narrow Way, Part 1: The Call to Die appeared first on Reston Bible Church.
Jesus wants to show us a way that makes it possible for our lives to count, both now and long after we're gone! Living a life that leaves a lasting legacy is a very narrow way, like a camel trying to go through the eye of a needle. While hard, Jesus makes it clear: Nothing is impossible with God!

It's not hard but it's not easy to get to the narrow way (See Matthew 7:13-14). Don't let the devil and his minions sidetrack your journey out of the City of Destruction and to the Celestial City!

When Jesus spoke of the narrow way that few find, he also observed that the “gate” is small that leads to the path of life. How is this surprisingly small door, also shockingly open to everyone?
Jesus told his followers that the way to life is surprisingly narrow, and few actually find it. How do we stay on the narrow way of Jesus, and avoid leaving it for broader and easier paths?

In Matthew chapter 7 we read about a narrow way that few people find. Too often this is used as a scare tactic verse to make people question their salvation. In this sermon, Bro. Luke uses the scriptures to show how this narrow path is not a path to Heaven, but rather a path of Godly …

"Narrow Is The Way" by Dr. Bobby Allen focuses on the Christian concept of salvation pathways derived from Matthew 7:13-14. The core message contrasts two distinct routes: the "broad way," which is easy, popular, and allows for sin and self-indulgence but leads to destruction, and the "narrow way," which is difficult, requires sacrifice, self-denial, and commitment to holiness but leads to eternal life. The speaker urges the audience to choose the narrow path, emphasizing that neutrality or indecision is a choice toward the broad road, referencing other biblical warnings like Proverbs 14:12 and Revelation 3:16 to reinforce the urgency of making a wise, life-altering decision.

In a world full of noise, power struggles, and people claiming to speak for God, how do we know which path truly leads to life? In the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus warns of wide roads that end in destruction and narrow ways that bring life. He calls us to test the fruit, examine the foundation, and choose carefully whom we follow. This message explores Jesus' timeless warning in Matthew 7 and how it speaks directly to the deceptive voices of our own day.
This week's episode is timely. In the wake of unfathomable evil put on display, we are reminded of Matthew 7:14, "... small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it." The way we are called to walk is undoubtedly unpopular, difficult, unpredictable, and requires total surrender, commitment, and sacrifice. It's not for the faint of heart, but for those who have fully given their "yes" and are willing to follow the Lord wherever He may lead. What are you still clinging to that you need to let go of and truly live on the narrow path?We live in unprecedented times. He never promised easy. But He did promise we would never go it alone. Be encouraged today, our God reigns victoriously and because of that, so do we. Shield to shield. I'm with you.
We look at the instructions in Titus for leaders and teachers in the church to live pure lives. How can one maintain their conduct and walk the straight path? We consider the wisdom of Psalm 1 and the importance for us all to be mindful of what we 'soak in.'
Matthew chapter 7 begins with Jesus dealing with judging others before examining oneself. One's perspective in seeing is the difference between seeing a plank or a splinter. Dr. Mitchell then takes up the attitude the believer should have toward the unbeliever in sharing precious truth that they wouldn't understand. In verses 7 through 11, Jesus speaks to us about the Father's desire to give good gifts to his children. We who know the Lord can be assured that God does answer our prayers. Are you a child of God through faith in Jesus Christ?Dr. Mitchell then takes up the verses having to do with the golden rule and then teaches on the two ways. One way is Broad and leads to destruction the other is narrow and leads to life. Here is Dr. Mitchell with the way to life on the Unchanging Word Bible broadcast, Mt. 7:1-14.

CULTIVATING SAINTS, SAGES, AND STATESMEN THROUGH THE GREAT TRADITION OF CHRISTENDOMIn this episode, we announce the new Eternal Christendom Substack, and provide a free example of the content we are offering to premium Subscribers ($8/month). It's called "Catechesis with the Fathers," in which we will read a work of the Church Fathers, and unlock its treasury of wisdom from four perspectives: theology, philosophy, apologetics, and the spiritual life.In this "Catechesis with the Fathers," we will read two amazing sermons--Sermons 149 and 227--by a lesser known, but amazing western Church Father, St. Caesarius of Arles (c. 468/470-542). We paired these two sermons together since Sermon 149 discusses the narrow cruciform path to salvation, and Sermon 227 explains how the Catholic altar on earth is intrinsically connected with the heavenly altar, and how to approach it worthily so as to receive the Eucharist unto eternal life, instead of eternal damnation.SUBSCRIBE TO OUR SUBSTACKhttps://substack.com/@eternalchristendomVISIT OUR WEBSITEhttps://eternalchristendom.com/BECOME A PATRON OF THE GREAT TRADITIONWe are a non-profit, and all gifts are tax-deductible. Did you know chronic worry shrinks your brain's ability to plan and connect… but trust in loving relationships can begin to reverse it? We all worry — about bills, bodies, relationships, and the future. But what if Jesus' words in Matthew 6:25-34, “Do not worry about your life…”, were not just a spiritual ideal, but a radical invitation to freedom? This Sabbath, we explored what neuroscience reveals about how worry rewires your brain and body, why Jesus challenges the deepest assumptions of our anxious culture, and how the Kingdom of God gives us a new center of trust, joy, and purpose as we become a community of peace in a world of fear. Let's unpack a life-transforming paradox in Jesus' teaching (Matt. 7:13-14). Jesus says that the spacious life (life that is full of peace, satisfaction, joy and more) is found by actually squeezing through the narrow gate and following Jesus on this narrow path by putting His teachings into practice. The path is difficult, uncomfortable, and even feels constricting but it's the path that actually leads to a spacious life with God here and now. Who's up for a hike?

Nicholas Jamerson is regarded as one of the finer songwriters in the current Americana, folk and country scene. His heartfelt lyrics of love, loss and lamentation born from the hills of Eastern Kentucky were the foundation of the success of Sundy Best, his award-winning band and collaboration with Kris Bentley. But after its temporary break-up/hiatus, Jamerson continued writing and recording as a solo act, often backed by the Morning Jays, his support band. He's churned out six studio and two live albums over the last decade, the newest of which, The Narrow Way, dropped June 20. It is the third album in a trilogy preceded by The Wild Frontier (2020) and Peace Mountain (2023). Jamerson joined Roots Music Rambler this week to talk about the new album, which he acknowledged is a bit meditative about life, love and loss. He also talked about his new status as an elder statesman in the folk/singer-songwriter space, how he balances projects like Sundy Best which still tours, and his past as a high school and college football star. You'll notice Jamerson repeats the notion that songs and songwriting are his “work.” We're lucky to be able to experience the craftsmanship. In Week 16 of our Sermon on the Mount series, Pastor Aaron McRae leads us through one of the most compelling sections of Jesus' teaching — a warning about choices, character, and counterfeit spirituality. Drawing from Matthew 7:13–29, this message explores the narrow vs. wide gate, true vs. false prophets, and the ultimate test of a life built on Jesus.Jesus calls us to a higher standard — not just external behavior but inward transformation. We're challenged to examine the voices we follow, the fruit we bear, and the foundation we build our lives upon.
