Welcome to our brand new season, The Business of Beer! This whole thing started in early 2024 when Cee and Tiff did a pod focused on why so many craft breweries are closing, and that led to a whole slew of episodes focused on varying aspects of the craft beer industry. These episodes became so popular with guests reaching out to be on the pod to not talk about their own brewery that the team figured it'd make more sense to kick off a dedicated season. We're setting it off with two phenomenal taproom managers - Caitlyn of Town Brewery and Jamie of Fine Balance joined Cee and Nate to get into the misconceptions of what taproom managers actually do, the pricing of retail beer, changing consumer habits in the taproom, the popularity and importance of new releases vs flagships, taproom challenges, the value of merch for a brewery, hospitality and the value of great service, Google reviews and the Untappd effect on breweries. They cracked a series of killer brews - Town Square Wheels Hazy IPA, Town Easy Tiger Non-Alcoholic Lager, Fine Balance Trailhead American Pale Ale, Fine Balance Spicy Water (Raspberry), Town Hot Knives Hazy DIPA, Town Local Hero Non-Alcoholic IPA, Fine Balance x Slake Mountview Farmhouse, and Fine Balance Spicy Water (Peach). This was a brilliant way to launch a new series - enjoy! BAOS Podcast Subscribe to the podcast on YouTube | Website | Theme tune: Cee - BrewHeads
The Hamilton Today Podcast with Scott Thompson: Where are relations between the governments of Canda and India going? Other than seemingly downward, fast. It is all coming up on the Hamilton Today Podcast! Guests: Colin Craig, President the Think Tank ‘SecondStreet.org'. Josh always knew he wanted to have a technical career, but it took him some time to land in software engineering. We loved getting to delve deeper into his journey, as he shared his history as a veteran, taproom brewmaster to eventually utilizing the Vet Tec program to make his transition into tech. One of our strengths is how widely varied our students backgrounds are. Everyone brings useful skills from their previous careers and it's fascinating to see where that benefits them in the wide world of tech! Special Guest: Joshua Maurer.

This week on Beer Sessions Radio, Jimmy is highlighting Green Man Brewery. On the show is Green Man's co-owner Dennis Thies and Taproom Manager Eric MacDonald from Asheville, NC. Dennis starts by taking us back to 2008 when he first discovered the Asheville craft beer scene. He then lets us in on who the mythical “Green Man” truly is, and how he polished the brand up once he became the new owner. What separates Green Man from other breweries is that they actually have two taprooms side-by-side, offering very different experiences. Eric walks us through the Green Mansion, a 3-story taproom offering a completely new experience of drinking craft beer. The two discuss how a brewery can really change a neighborhood, and Dennis even gives us a craft beer walking tour itinerary to make sure you hit all the spots. To wrap up the show, Dennis reminisces on growing up in a beer sales family and highlights some of his oldest distribution and customer service memories, inspiring us all to take a leap of faith and get into the world of brewing. We talk all about how beer is great, peas are terrible, and why beards are absolutely necessary for being a brewmaster. You may know Jo as the voiceover artist in the intro for every episode. This beautiful critter gave us an hour and a half. The least you can do is give her the same. It's time to learn, y'all.
