Say Hello Save a Life - A Podcast About Teenage Mental Health, Depression And Suicide
Parents make sure to look for these 3 Teen Bullying Signs Teen Bullying Signs Beginning at School School is where young people spend the most time together, and it's where a lot of bullying between same-aged peers is likely to start. Even in cases of cyberbullying, it's common for the bully and bullied to know each other from school. Conflicts may arise in the school setting and later migrate to the web. When a teenager must encounter someone who is bullying them in school, it's not surprising that they might begin to have problems in school. Teens who are being bullied might feign illness or come up with other excuses to miss school, or they may skip classes or whole days of school behind your back. If they can't avoid school, teen bullying signs might exhibit anxiety or express dislike for school and school-related activities. You may also notice a change in your teenager's grades. It's common for stress and distractions to impact a teen's ability to succeed in school, and being bullied is both stressful and distracting. Failing to turn in assignments or work up to their previous standards may also be a way for a teen to express that something is wrong when they don't feel comfortable saying it in words. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/jjs-hello-foundation/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/jjs-hello-foundation/support

Michael and Becca both share stories of going through puberty. Along with that the other challenges of childhood, Bullying! We've talked about this before when we were younger, but as teens the bullying continued. We also talk about something a bit more difficult. Our own experiences bullying others. Specifically, we both would bully our own siblings. Looking back we feel terrible about the cruelty of the we treated out own brothers and sisters. But we have learned from it and would never think about doing anything like that again. We have asked their forgiveness and have been vigilant to make sure our kids are kinder to one another than we were to our siblings. Growing up is so difficult! I hope some of the lessons we learned along the way can help you better navigate these rough waters. On our channel The Beach House, we used to do vlogs about our lives. Ever since then we've changed the direction of our channel, but we were missing having that record of our lives (and so were our viewers!). Alex – I know that you help adults who are victims of bullies, but I am at a loss as to how to help my son. He is in 7th grade and is being bullied by an 8th grade kid and his little gang. My wife and I have gone to the school to complain dozens of times, we have talked to my son’s teachers to keep an eye out, nothing seems to help. The school assistant principal suggested that my son is too sensitive and should be tested for psychological problems. My son is so stressed out about going to school that he doesn’t eat much, he withdraws from family and friends, he doesn’t seem to have any joy, and now he is lashing out at his Mom and me. My son has been hit, spat on, called names, and had his money and property stolen by this gang of bullies and he is living in fear. But the school does nothing. Every day I drop him off, it breaks my heart. But I just don’t know how to help him. - Jacob PR & Crisis Management expert, Alexandrea Merrell answers question about stalking, bullying, online harassment, and hate campaigns, and helps adults deal with personal and professional reputation crises to ultimately rebuild a stronger, more resilient, and joyful brand and life. It isn’t just the dorky kid at school who gets bullied; you could be beautiful, successful, grown up, and still have to deal with bullies—a toxic friend, an overbearing family member, an unreasonable boss. Drew Ryniewicz found that out early on. At just 14 she was propelled into the limelight on the X-Factor, and despite being gorgeous and talented, she quickly had to contend with cyber trolls from all over the globe, watching and judging her life. Drew followed her dream of becoming a musician despite the hardship, and came to realize that the bigger the dream, the bigger the ridicule that comes with it. She wanted to use that ridicule to empower her life, write music, become the artist she wanted to be, and prove the trolls wrong. For the last two years, she’s dedicated her life to the anti-bullying movement, and has become the face to Allstar Nation Tour, a music-based anti-bullying campaign. Drew shares her story to show other girls that they are not alone, and to help them see the beauty and potential that is within them. She’s even given an inspiring TED talk entitled “Having Ridiculous Dreams.” Drew challenges people to overcome rejection, live ridiculously, and follow their dreams. Plus, our rockstar producer Roxy Flo talks about producing Drew’s song Empire the most beautiful, lyrical, honest song she’s written. What is a bully and why should I care; because bullies are around us every day and at any age, online and in person we experience attacks to our physical and emotional being. This is unacceptable and many are being hurt by the actions of others. If you need help, want to help another or just watching this go on, stand up, take charge and do something now, that is the only way. Action is the only way to give hope so that no one will be a victim with devastating consequences. Helena Albert, singer and song writer of 'Pushed Away' a song about helping a friend in time of need will be my guest today. She is a young teen who has changed schools and experienced bullies in her own life and seen the effects of bullies on her friends lives. Ms. Albert is speaking out about what a bully can do to your life and how to stay stong. If you are a parent, grandparent, teen or anyone seeing or experiencing any form of bully activity there is hope.
