Today, on the 12th of January, we are celebrating India's National Youth Day, to commemorate the birth day by Gregorian Calendar of Swami Vivekananda, who was born on the 12th of January 1863. Of course, in the Hindu tradition, we celebrate birthdays by tithi, that is, by moon day so this year (2025), Swami Vivekananda's birthday will be celebrated in earnest on Monday, the 20th of January. But nevertheless, to commemorate this very auspicious day and to get us all revved up for Swamiji Puja that's coming up, I thought I would read you a few excerpts from letters from American disciples describing what it was like to be with the Swami in New York and at the Thousand Islands Park retreat, which was when the Swami was allegedly at his finest. Over the next few days, I will be unleashing a slew of "Vivekananda content" here so brace yourselves! May my entire breath and being be offered to the Swami's work and mission. I stand ever ready to lay down life and limb for his message!Ever yours in Vivekananda,NishanthFor more detailed instructions for how to perform Kālī pūjā, watch this playlist: https://www.patreon.com/collection/233799Lectures happen live every Monday at 7pm PST and Friday 10am PST and again Friday at 6pm PST.Use this link and I will see you there:https://www.zoom.us/j/7028380815For more videos, guided meditations and instruction and for access to our lecture library, visit me at:https://www.patreon.com/yogawithnishTo get in on the discussion and access various spiritual materials, join our Discord here: https://discord.gg/U8zKP8yMrMSupport the show
In this episode of The Soul Unleashed, we explore the eschatology, and the fascinating history and theology behind Pope Benedict XII and his influential papal bull Benedictus Deus, which defined the Catholic doctrine of the Beatific Vision. Diving into the question, “What happens when we die?”, we uncover the story of Jacques Fournier, the Cistercian monk turned pope, who shaped Church teachings during the tumultuous Avignon Papacy. From inquisitions in southern France to the Albigensian Crusade, this episode weaves together history, theology, and personal eschatology, offering insights into the medieval Church and its struggles for spiritual and political authority. No matter what happens on the Hebrew calendar , even though we are in Month of Tammuz with all its warfare and “Between the Straights” and “Three Weeks of Mourning” it does not change that it is the month of August, the 8th month on the Gregorian Calendar and God always promotes this month and sets us up for advancement directly following the 3 Weeks of Mourning. Why would God do this ? Even though the Hebrew Calendar is God's Calendar it always shifts from Tammuz into the new month of Comfort which is the Month of Av. Av is tough in the beginning but then it quickly becomes a month of promotion and acceleration .God has been revealing the idols in our life in Tammuz because you can't be entangled with these idols while God is promoting you and expanding and growing you! August 1 is first day of month of new beginnings, August 8 is the day of new beginnings in month of new beginnings, then August 13 is the last day of 3 weeks of mourning, 9 AV, which is a vital day of fasting and praying when Jewish people mourn the destruction of 2 temples. Then advancement comes that night at sundown when mourning ends.Matthew 6:24, “ No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.”God is going to send you some fresh ideas. Warning.- DO NOT make your fresh ideas an idol as they will hold you back if you begin to worship them. You are called to Worship Him and Serve Him only. You have been through a lot of warfare but now it is time to advance and you don't want the old with new, or even the new becoming an idol. Creative ideas are going to come fast and this is because it is good to come to you for the kingdom to expand. We all celebrate personal milestones like birthdays and wedding anniversaries throughout the year. Many of us are accustomed to measuring time according to the Gregorian Calendar, a man-made system, rather than the Hebrew calendar, which was established by the Creator of time. In this episode, Rabbi Nagel joins us to explore these important questions: 1) Should we acknowledge the Gregorian calendar? 2) How do we serve Hashem during these significant personal milestones in the year? 3) For those who have converted or are married to converts, how do we honor previous birthdays and wedding anniversaries that may seem less relevant post-conversion? Join us for an enlightening discussion on harmonizing these calendars and embracing these sacred times in our lives. ★ Support this podcast ★
We start with Christmas recaps where Neil realizes that he's the true patron of his family now, passing him the torch to be a real Clark Griswold. Neil and I argue about calendars and when the Gregorian Calendar replaced the Julian Calendar for some reason. This brings us to Lent and our Lenten struggles for some reason led us into talking about why Millennials and Gen Xers are so overprotective of their kids and into a segment that we would like to call random story time. In this episode of random story time we tell the story of how my daughter and Neil's son ran over a three year old in cold blood in a power wheels car. We end the conversation by giving a couple of sneak peaks at some (hopefully) upcoming new Among Wolves episodes and since we don't know how to land the plan we spend the last 20 minutes talking about the Oscars and Oppenheimer. **Discussion begins at 10:15**Does anyone know much about the Middle Ages? Anyone a big history fan? Well what if I told you a huge chunk of the middle ages, I'm talking a couple hundred of years, never actually existed? That the years 614 to 911 AD have been forged in the historical timeline we know today. Even more, that this was done at the hands of European leaders - the Pope and Emperors who all strived to lead at the change of millennium. These leaders wanted to be a part of a new millennium to become more popular in order for their beliefs to have a stronger hold on the public. Why is there so little physical evidence of this chunk of the Middle Ages? What about the architecture styles used allegedly hundreds of years before the style itself was even created? Can we actually trust the historical dating systems based on trees and radioactivity?Additional content and source materialSupport the showTheme song by INDA

As this podcast goes to air, it's a new year according to the Gregorian calendar which is the calendar used in most parts of the world. It went into effect in 1582 based on 365 days with modifications to be consistent with the earth's movement around the sun. Like this year. It's a leap year so an extra day. Though not perfect, I also read this on google … the Gregorian Calendar will take 3300 years before being one day off. Another way to look at time is through the energy of the Medicine Wheel. Most of us are in the season of Winter, found in the direction of the North. It's a time of dreaming. Cosmically, we've just come out of Mercury retrograde, although you probably won't feel this for another week or so. We are in the sun sign of Capricorn, an Earth sign helping you to center and ground from all the holiday energy. In today's episode, I wanted to open up with a challenging projection of this year ahead, blending the calenders and allowing the Soul to come forward. Some of the messages that have been coming in to share are about impatience, loneliness and anxiousness… with an inability to slow down. So, as we look at the energy of the year ahead ... 2024 = 8 a year of infinite potential, we will keep this in mind as I bring these messages forward. Projections for the year ahead can be extremely helpful, especially when they come from an intuitive mindset that can inspire innovation and creativity, which can uncover novel ideas and approaches that may not be apparent from traditional analysis alone. Intuition sparks new perspectives, challenges conventional thinking, and leads to breakthrough solutions. A few days ago, Cardinal Fernández, who, I should note, already made it into the next round of Cardinal Numbers so he's just running up his score at this point, issued a high level document in his capacity as the head of the Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith–aka the Vatican's Head Theology Guy–that explicitly allows for the informal blessing of homosexual couples with certain conditions. The document was at pains to stress that it does not represent a change in church teaching. I'll defer to the theologians on that, but in the end I've seen takeaways ranging from “this is definitely a change in church teaching” in an excited tone from the more liberally inclined both inside and outside the Church and the same takeaway in a despairing tone from those more conservatively inclined. Then there are those who say “this is definitely NOT a change in Church teaching”, a take that comes mainly from more centrist folks and but also from the hard left who think allowing informal blessings of gay couples while being at pains to distinguish them from marriage isn't even close to the kind of change they want to see. Basically, whether you think this document represents Pope Francis changing doctrine seems to boil down to whether you were already expecting Pope Francis to change doctrine. Folks seem to be seeing what they expected to see. For my part, I was actually genuinely surprised, mainly because there had been none of the usual rumors preceding the release of the document. Usually you get more smoke before the fire. In the end, I am perfectly willing to say that blessings are good, get them if you can and are inclined to seek them. They're more readily available now than they were last week. The second topic tonight is something I meant to cover in my what to expect update but, well, forgot. I've started labeling my Cardinal Numbers posts with a special symbol, and I do mean special. Roberto from Tsar Power help me out *** thanks Roberto who is also from The History of Saqartvelo Georgia. So yes, the Arevakhach (֎) is an Armenian symbol symbolizing eternity, used in contexts from the Christian to the Neo-Pagan to the secular, always tied to Armenia, so it's kind of a national symbol for them. I admit I'm borrowing it for pretty much entirely unrelated purposes, namely that it's a distinctive looking symbol that also works in UNICODE and should therefore be able to render properly for ya'll pretty much regardless of device, plus outside Armenia it doesn't really have an established meaning that might confuse folks, so all in all those things add up to make it a useful symbol to use to make my Cardinals episodes stand out from the rest at a quick glance. So, with thanks to Armenian culture and my Armenian and quasi-Armenian contacts who assured me it would not be offensive to use the Arevakhach for that purpose as long as I took a moment to explain its place in Armenian culture and as a national symbol, I'll be using it to flag Cardinal Numbers content moving forward, starting with, well, starting with the back catalog stuff I've already started flagging, but then after that starting with the next batch of 12 cardinals which I am hoping but not guaranteeing will begin releasing tomorrow, as I present to you the 12 Cardinals of Christmas! Oh, and mentioning Christmas brings me to one other milestone I wanted to note. One consequence of Putin's invasion of Ukraine is the fact that the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church has decided to partially adopt the Gregorian Calendar, 441 years after its introduction under Pope Gregory XIII. Orthodox Churches under the Moscow Patriarchate are among the few institutions still using the Julian Calendar, which Pope Gregory revised to reflect solar reality as Easter had begun to drift out of its springtime home. The move is not complete, as the present adoption of the new calendar actually doesn't apply to the dating of Easter in this case, but there is hope that the dating of Easter will be resolved a couple years from now, in 2025, for the 1700th anniversary of the Council of Nicaea, the first great council of the Christian Church. I'm not going to hold my breath on the Easter controversy being fully resolved in my lifetime since it's one of the longest-running points of contention in the history of Christianity, but for now if you know any Ukrainian Greek Catholics, be sure to welcome them to Christmas in the Gregorian Calendar. З Різдвом (Христовим), or, Merry Christmas!
"Resolve" is the flavor we are serving up at Mama Rish's Kitchen prepping for the darkest night of the year, the Winter Solstice. Listen to storytelling about how our ancestors may have referred to this time of the year as the "Death of the Sun." This story goes, each year the Sun dies for three days on the Winter Solstice in what appears to be a standstill in the cosmos known as the "Southern Cross." Here in time and space the Sun hangs out on the Southern Cross for three days where it reaches it furthest point in the Southern Hemisphere. Thus, creating a very long stretch of night into darkness. According to the Gregorian Calendar this happens at precisely December 22 + 23 + 24 each year. According to ancient tale, December the 25th is said to be the day that the Sun is reborn as a turning back again from this dark stretch. What I find supercool is that the Southern Cross was a cosmological navigational tool for wayfarers for finding due South when sailing these waters. December's viewpoint looks toward the transition from Autumn to Winter as a preparation for the Spring (Vernal) Equinox. Also, I personally appreciate a calendar that coincides with the seasons according to where I currently live. Being an herbal gardener and aromatherapist flowing with the cycles of life it is understood there is a time for : planting, rooting, growing, and harvesting. AND there is a set time to be quiet during the dark nights of the year trusting that the light returns bringing hope for the journey around the Sun again. JOURNAL : What can I finish up? What can I clear out making space to look inward? What can I carry forward into the New Year along with hope as a wellness practice? Where can I be still to trust the next steps in time of uncertainty? Some more info for the wandering mystics, the English word solstice is derived from two Latin words: Sol meaning Sun, and sistere — to cause to standstill. In this installment, we discuss: Harmful Effect of Repeating, Observing Our Environment and Halfway Through 2023. Nonverbal Communication and The Gregorian Calendar is highlighted
Julius Caesar, born Gaius Julius Caesar, was a prominent Roman statesman, military general, and dictator who played a pivotal role in transforming the Roman Republic into the Roman Empire. Born on July 12, 100 BC, in Rome, Caesar rose to power during a time of political turmoil and instability, leaving an indelible mark on Roman history. Caesar came from a noble family, and his early years were marked by military service and political maneuvering. He distinguished himself as a skilled military leader during his campaigns in Gaul (modern-day France) and Britain, expanding Rome's territorial control and securing his reputation as a brilliant strategist. These military victories helped consolidate his power and popularity back in Rome. In 49 BC, Caesar crossed the Rubicon River with his army, an act considered treasonous at the time, and marched on Rome, sparking a civil war against his political rival, Pompey. Caesar emerged victorious, becoming the sole ruler of Rome and effectively ending the Roman Republic. He implemented a series of reforms aimed at strengthening the central government, improving the lives of ordinary citizens, and reducing the influence of the aristocracy. Caesar's reforms included the Julian Calendar, which became the basis for the modern Gregorian Calendar. He also enacted land reforms, provided land for impoverished citizens, and implemented policies to alleviate debt and unemployment. These measures endeared him to the masses but garnered opposition from some members of the Senate, who feared his growing power and the erosion of their own influence. Caesar's rule was characterized by his autocratic style of governance, and in 44 BC, he was declared dictator perpetuo, or dictator for life. This declaration further exacerbated tensions within the Roman Senate, and a group of senators led by Marcus Brutus and Gaius Cassius Longinus conspired to assassinate him. On the Ides of March (March 15), 44 BC, Caesar was assassinated in the Senate chamber. His death plunged Rome into another period of political instability, ultimately leading to a power struggle between his adopted heir Octavian (later known as Augustus), and Caesar's assassins. This struggle culminated in the rise of the Roman Empire under Augustus, Caesar's grandnephew, and the first Roman Emperor. Caesar's legacy looms large in history. He is renowned for his military accomplishments, political acumen, and role in the Roman Republic's downfall. His name has become synonymous with power, ambition, and the potential dangers of autocracy. Caesar's life and death have inspired countless works of literature, including William Shakespeare's famous play, "Julius Caesar," which dramatizes the events surrounding his assassination. Despite the controversy surrounding his rule, Caesar left an indelible mark on Roman society. His military campaigns expanded Rome's borders, his political reforms shaped the structure of the Roman Empire, and his name remains an enduring symbol of authority and leadership. Julius Caesar's contributions and impact on ancient Rome have ensured his place among history's most influential figures. Show notes at https://thedigressionpodcast.com/105 Sound Off! Most people only know one thing about Hannibal — that he brought elephants over the Alps to attack Rome. But there is so much more to the story. Carthage and Rome fought three wars over a period of 118 years to determine who would become the dominant people in the Mediterranean. Hannibal's loss led directly to the Romans being the ones to shape Western civilization and the modern world.
Bishop Mykola Bychok explains why and how was made a decision to change from Julian to Gregorian calendar and when Ukrainian catholics in Australia will celebrate the feasts of Easter and Christmas.
YAHUAH, the Creator, through His Word, wants us to keep the calendar based upon His Creation. His Calendar is non-continual, as this helps keep our attention on Him. Therefore, His creation mechanisms for time, the Moon and Sun, are so vitally important for keeping proper track of the calendar. In fact, the Moon and Sun are the only true mechanism for the True Calendar of the Creator. This is beautiful, because every month (New Moon) causes us to stop and acknowledge YAHUAH as Creator. Each New Moon (new month) also allows us to reflect on the accomplishments of the prior month and give thanks to YAHUAH for keeping us in Him. Specifics: The Calendar of the Creator utilizes months that total either 29 or 30 days. Determining the last day of the month (29th or 30th) is simple. Whenever the moon is the darkest for the entire world (lunar conjunction), that is the LAST DAY of the MONTH. In months where the last day of the month is the 29th day, the New Moon Day falls on the day (dawn) after the 29th day. In the months where the last day of the month is the 30th day, the New Moon Day falls on the day (dawn) after the 30th day. Once you have New Moon Day, then you will have four complete weeks of seven days that follow (six workdays, then the Sabbath). The Sabbath always falls on the 8th, 15th, 22nd, and 29th of the Lunar-Solar months. Keep in mind that these Sabbath dates (8th, 15th, 22nd, and 29th) can fall on different days/dates on the Roman Gregorian Calendar, because the Gregorian Calendar is always continuous without any ties to the Moon or Sun (against the Word of YAHUAH). For example, if the Lunar-Solar New Moon falls on a “wed” on the Gregorian Calendar, the next four Sabbaths will always fall on a “wed” as well. After the last Sabbath, you will look for the New Moon to reset the upcoming new month. Thus, New Moon Day will happen the following day after the 4th Sabbath of the month if there are 29 days in that month, or New Moon Day will happen two days after the 4th Sabbath of the month if there are 30 days in that month. ✨ To join our movement and community of Awakened Leaders serving Collective Ascension: https://academy.togetherweascend.com “Time is an illusion.” You may have heard this being proposed before, perhaps you've even felt some resonance with the statement. But what is time really? Have you ever considered that our society's dominating concept of time could be severely limiting us? And can it be possible that something so widely accepted and used liked the Gregorian Calendar, the calendar that the vast majority of the world uses today, is keeping us in lower states of consciousness and in disharmony. Andra Visan is an expert of the Dreamspell Calendar (which is inspired by the Mayan Calendar) and teaches us how we can use this calendar to come back into harmony with Nature, and with ourselves. I've had her on the show before for Ep #57: How to Use the Mayan Dreamspell Calendar As a Spiritual Development Tool, in which we opened up a conversation that we dive deeper into in this one. This time she's back to help us evolve our understanding of what time really is, and in doing so, evolve our consciousness. IN THIS EPISODE ANDRA AND BRYAN EXPLORE: What time really is, and how our society's concept of linear time is severely limiting us Why the use of the Gregorian Calendar (the primary calendar being used in the world) is keeping us out of harmony with Nature and with ourselves Finding the balance between doing and being, and tuning what our body and Souls are asking for The Dreamspell Calendar and the shift in consciousness that takes place when we of begin using a calendar that is attuned with the cycles of Nature How to transition to using the Dreamspell Calendar in our modern world What the Noosphere is; activating humanity's next stage of evolution and telepathic communication RESOURCES MENTIONED; Andra's Youtube Channel Law of Time Foundation Website 13:20 Sync App for Iphone Dreamspell (Android App) OUR GUEST: ANDRA VISAN Andra Visan, born and living in Romania, has been studying the Dreamspell Calendar since July 2017, after she experienced a profound synchronicity right at the time of the Mayan New Year, which made her understand the power behind this magical system. After some incredible synchronicities and following the codes of the calendar, she arrived on the footsteps of the Mayan Pyramids in Mexico, she bathed in the ancient energy of the lands to gain the inspiration and the motivation needed to dedicate her time and work to presenting the Dreamspell Calendar to the world. She offers individual galactic signature decoding sessions, online and offline workshops, and posts educational videos about the codes, structure and philosophy of the calendar on her Youtube Channel.

Quick Announcement: All new curriculum in the online business school! We will start having quarter by quarter topics and ongoing support in between for people inside the online business school container. You'll be able to join individual quarters as a standalone, or join just one quarter if that's what you prefer. And if you are a member in the online business school, you would get to come to all of them. Course menu: https://nicholejoy.kartra.com/page/coursemenu Now for this week's episode: I spoke to some of my clients after getting back from the holidays, and found out that most of them were not feeling that “New Year jumpstart energy” just yet. They were not vibing with it and they still felt very much like they were recovering. But guess what, even I did not have everything planned out – and I even made a planner! And it wasn't because I wasn't ready yet. It was mostly because of the energy wasn't supportive of me doing that just yet. Our bodies during this season naturally want to pull inward, hibernate, and rest as we experience the cold of winter. But because we are conditioned to adhere to the Gregorian Calendar which is most commonly accepted throughout the world, we feel like we have to go start to kick-off a new year just like everybody else. The thing is, this calendar might not be in alignment with our body's rhythm. And that's okay. If January 1st isn't your preference, you have options. There are alternatives that you can try out and see what feels correct for you. You can approach this concept of playing with time as it pertains to your dreams and your goals in your business, from a different lens. If you want your dreams to become inevitable and guaranteed to happen, then do this: drop the arbitrary date. You will not quit your dream just because you did not hit a benchmark by December 31st of an arbitrary time. You will do whatever it takes no matter how long it takes to reach your dreams. That's when your dreams become a guarantee. So my advice to you is: what if you drop the date and take off the limits to your dreams, your goals, whatever, and move forward? No matter how long it takes, what do you think might happen then? Felicidades as we enter the Gregorian Calendar's New Year of 2023, we are at the start of a new era. Of course Brujitx know that the New Year starts earlier and for some later in the Spring. In any case, we are always moving through seasons and cycles and 2023 invites us into the Universal number 7. Many of us love the number seven and know that it's a Neptunian influenced number bringing us into our spiritual knowing, solitude and the embodiment of what is our own personal and collective truth. In this episode, I share about 2020 and 2021 being a time for many to slow down, go deep, reclaim their spirituality and heal, heal, heal. Removed from distractions many of us in our communities reclaimed tools and our healer/brujiyx selves. 2022 Brough us out in the world and we began to deal. The essence of this new Universal Year doesn't tolerate BS gladly and the collective is invited to redefine and actualize what spirituality means to them. A trend occurred where folks went from their first meditation to creating their business often without doing much work. It's beautiful to know deep in your soul that this is your calling- and 2023 is going to bring TONS of clarity. Many will commit to the long game of a spiritual business and practice and others will recognize that it's a personal path of healing and wellness. In the middle we drop into an impromptu meditation to invite some answers and return to continue the conversation. I know that many that listen are legit spiritual folks who are interested in healing and supporting our communities and we cannot deny the increase in fake spirituality and "shiny thing syndrome" in our world when capitalism and consumerism has deemed spirituality and such a huge moneymaker at this time.So take it con take it easy and trust your inner knowing. You've go this and we are growing: Together! I shared about BRUJA RISING an intimate membership group that offers two events a month; New Moon Gathering and setting of intentions and a Full Moon Bruja Oracle Office Hour- where I open the Akashic Records, speak on astrology and then answer attendees questions from their own guides and Records! Many of us are seeing in a new year, but of course there are, even today, several different ways of marking dates and years in various parts of the world. The most popular calendar, though, is the Gregorian, introduced in October 1852 by Pope Gregory XIII.In this episode of Not Just the Tudors, Professor Suzannah Lipscomb is joined by Dr. Christina Faraday to find out how and why the Gregorian calendar was introduced, the impact it had on people's lives, and the serious debate and, in some countries, centuries long resistance to its use. This episode was edited and produced by Rob Weinberg. Happy New Year! Or is it? While large parts of the world celebrate the start of a new calendar year on January 1st, much of the world celebrates the New Year at other times. Many cultures base their New Year on events in Nature, astronomical events, or a combination of both.In this episode, Thom explains the basis for the Vedic New Year and the rationale behind it. While it isn't celebrated as ‘enthusiastically' as New Year is in the West, it marks a significant stage in the rhythm of life and is worthy of our attention each time it comes around, even if we have another New Year celebration that's more significant to us.Episode Highlights:[00:45] The Gregorian Calendar[01:41] Cues From Nature[03:24] Solstices and Equinoxes[04:46] Yuletide[05:51] Gap Week[07:39] Vernal Equinox[09:01] Spring - When We See the Fecundity of the Earth[10:47] Creating Additional JoyUseful Linksinfo@thomknoles.com https://thomknoles.com/https://www.instagram.com/thethomknoleshttps://www.facebook.com/thethomknoleshttps://www.youtube.com/c/thomknoleshttps://thomknoles.com/ask-thom-anything/
In this episode of Half-Arsed History, begin the new year by learning about the history of the date-keeping system that almost the entire world uses today: the Gregorian calendar.
As we close out the Gregorian Calendar for 2022, Ingrid shares some exciting news about going on a date with a client. Is that even legal? Her story brings up a good example of the transits this week, where we focus on five conjunctions. Each conjunction is urging you to take either responsibility for what you want to accomplish (especially in relationships) facing your fears, showing yourself compassion, and finding empathy for your partners. Mercury's retrograde transit rings us into the New Year, so now could be a good time to reflect, and review what you have accomplished, or where you have fallen short. Take those first steps, however small they may be, towards what you want to achieve, especially by the end of Q1 2023.
