Steven is joined once more by the one and only Tim Lovejoy to talk about everything from art, football, and the evolving landscape of media. Tim shares his candid thoughts on football, analysing the emotional rollercoaster of being a fan. He also reflects on the changing dynamics of boxing, particularly the rise of celebrity fighters like Jake Paul, and the implications for the sport, as well as the world of podcasting, discussing the importance of authenticity and the challenges of maintaining integrity in a media landscape filled with sensationalism Key Takeaways Good art evokes thought and emotion, while bad art fails to resonate with the viewer. Art can reflect personal experiences and provoke conversation, as well as inspire us to recall key moments in our own journey. Being a football fan is a complex experience, especially when the clubs we love take us on rollercoaster rides of emotion We are seeing a changing landscape of media, particularly in the rise of podcasts and social media as platforms for content creation, allowing for more authentic and diverse voices to be heard. BEST MOMENTS "Good art should do something for you. It should speak to you... If it doesn't do that for you, it's probably not going to be the right fit for your portfolio." "I find myself drawn to it all the time... I can't help myself and I hate myself for it because I'd like to be able to just walk off." "You need to find something that one, makes you money. Number two, makes you fit. And number three, stimulates your creativity." VALUABLE RESOURCES The Steven Sulley Study https://www.instagram.com/timlovejoy_official/?hl=en ABOUT THE HOST The Steven Sulley Study is my take on success. My view is you should have multiple focuses to be a well-rounded individual. Success shouldn’t be just one thing like money, for example, it should also consist of a healthy fit lifestyle and thriving relationships. As a person who has made successes in life, and also made huge cock-ups, I feel I can offer suggestions and tips on how to become successful, or at least start your pursuit. My ‘Study’ has taken resources from reading and education plus being around, my perception of, successful people - and I know a lot of successful people from all walks of life. My ‘Study’ coming from my experiences in business, investing, sales (my core background), training, boxing and education has enabled me to become well-rounded and successful and I will help you in these key areas too. It's no surprise that televisions are a divisive topic in pubs. On the one hand they can provide entertainment during sporting events, or fill an awkward lull in conversation on a bad first date. On the other hand, they can be an unwanted distraction; when instead of having a lovely group discussion, everyone ends up watching 'The Chase' on mute. But after hosting a number of people on his own podcast, The Lovejoy Hour, such as Peter Bleksley, Neil Woods, Johann Hari, and our own Stop and Search host Jason Reed, Tim has had a complete transformation in his thinking and is now a big advocate from drug policy reform - he does all he can to help spread the message. This week's Monday Mile takes us on a longer stroll in West London along the bank of the River Thames. He is best known for being a TV presenter and Podcast Host, but is more than that. Do the shows Soccer AM, and Sunday Brunch ring a bell?  I have had the honour of being a guest on his show and his podcast so it was epic to flip the switch and host Tim on my podcast. It's Tim Lovejoy. We tap into how Tim has utilised his passion for self development and intrigue for learning to read his way out of depression. The different types meditation he has used and learned, one of which includes, (WALKING) and observing, so we did just that. The importance of living in the moment and how meditation can be a tool for that. His 2 self check-in alarms each day... We tapped into the importance of values, how they are learned and instilled within us. "If you value something show it attention, whether it's a friend, a partner, a cat, dog or a hobby" . We also tap into competition and fair game and his lack of empathy for "CHEATS" which comes back round to football. It's a meaty episode with some strong takeaways. Aimee will be probing for answers from the full spectrum of routines; the early birds who have finely tuned Monday mornings, to the late risers who struggle to get up before 11am. How do elite athletes find the motivation to kick start their week come rain or shine? How do celebrities deliver no matter what the time of day? What knowledge can they pass on? Each episode drops on a Monday morning as a bitesize piece of content and weekly dose of motivation - right when you need it. Aimee will meet each of her guests for a walk and a chat and over the course of the mile she will find out how they cope on a Monday morning - their idiosyncrasies, breakfast routines, alarm noises - and how, when they need to, find the motivation to kick-on through the week. Sharing some of Britain's greatest athletes, entrepreneurs, doctors, authors and broadcasters ' secrets on self-motivation, candid thoughts on what they struggle with and a sideways look at some of their more unusual morning habits. Head over to IG to watch the visuals of our episode and what we get up to on our Monday Mile. https://www.instagram.com/aimee_fuller/ Filmed by Jon Moy

We're a little late this week, apologies for that, but, hey, who can blame us, we're having to dive back into one of our least favourite scenes in musical history; the indie landfill boom of the mid-00's. This week we look at the fourth album from Leeds based indie nothing-men The Pigeon Detectives, released on the 29th of April 2013.  You might feel that, having already discussed the likes of Razorlight, The Vines, The Enemy and The Twang there isn't much gas left in the tank from Steve or Remfry when it comes to yet another one of these artists, but, actually, one of us is particularly wound up by the bands bland, jaunty noodlings. Having had a number three UK hit in 2007 with their debut album Wait For Me, The Pigeon Detectives seemed to make it their life mission to hang out with as many appalling and objectionable people as possible. This meant a record number of performances on Sky's risible flagship football banter show Soccer AM, going on tour with fellow hometown tossers The Kaiser Chiefs, allowing one of their gigs to be filmed by the internet TV company of gormless everyman and Sunday Brunch presenter Tim Lovejoy and inviting lunatic former Leeds United owner Massimo Cellino up onstage with them to piss all over Jimi Hendrix's Hey Joe. So far, so easy to hate.  Unsurprisingly the band suffered badly as the 2010's quickly re-evaluated the artistic merits of the indie scene, and We Met At Sea was their first album not to chart, was savaged by the critics and even the band themselves struggled to formulate a coherent sentence to justify their existence. But is it really that bad, or is it just really dull?... well… it's kinda both actually.

The Famous Sloping Pitch with Nick Hancock and Chris England

Nick Hancock and Chris England try to work out if anything can be done to reverse the creeping crappification of the once-beautiful game. For a start, you can stop calling it the beautiful game – it's lazy, glib, second-hand and fundamentally inaccurate. This week Nick and Chris get to grips with the Euros aftermath, horse-punching and Jack Grealish and his tiny shin pads.  The guest this week is Tim Lovejoy. Nick, Chris and Tim discuss Soccer AM, football fans and Jack Grealish and his tiny shin pads  Please feel free to contact Nick and Chris about the show on slopingpitch@gmail.com It would be great if you subscribed and rated the podcast with five stars, because frankly that's what it deserves.
