She combines counseling AND concierge services - so that you can focus on what matters the most: yourself and your healing!  Her mission is to change the way the world views both grief and  mental illness, so people can get the help they deserve without the fear of judgment, labels, and repercussions.  In her free time, you can find Sam and her pups, Sassy and Dallas, on one of their outdoor adventures. This week Tee was grateful to welcome Samantha Ruth to the podcast for a healing and reflective look at love, grief, and finding the power to move on. Samantha is a Transformational Psychologist, Speaker, and Best Selling Author, however, her world was shattered into millions of pieces when she unexpectedly lost her husband. Instead of giving up, Samantha turned her pain into helping others to do the same by guiding them to be their true selves not who they think they need to be, by embracing their differences, and by living life on their own terms.  In their talk, Samantha and Tee explore the many ways that we can begin to cope with and find help healing from extreme grief and trauma. From taking in the healing power of nature to accepting the love of pets and animals, Samantha shares her wealth of knowledge and experience. In addition to addressing healing practices and mental wellness techniques, Samantha also addresses how toxic relationships and even family members can often contribute to our emotional stress and anxiety during times of loss. Though sometimes painful, she shares her advice with listeners on how to set boundaries in these relationships and if need be, how to cope with severing them completely.  Samantha's mission is to change the way the world views both grief and mental health, so people can openly speak about whatever issues they have and get the help they not only need but deserve without fear of judgment, labels, and repercussions. How Your Biggest Crisis Reveals Your Greatest Gift — Dr. Debi Silber

Key Takeaways: A crisis can impact every single fiber of your wellbeing. Dr. Debi shares her story and how stress was deeply impacting her health. Betrayal is so common, but there isn’t a defined way or pattern to heal from it. What are the physical impacts of betrayal? Our world view becomes shattered and we begin to not trust ourselves. When our world collapses, we do everything to be in survival mode and that raises our stress levels. When we begin to survive, we start creating a new normal. You can go over betrayal a hundred times and will never make peace with it mentally. You’re using the wrong tool! When you’re withholding forgiveness or hold grudges, you experience accelerated aging. Every single woman in Dr. Debi’s study knew something wasn’t right but disregarded it. Dr. Debi has some questions you should be asking yourself! Are you numbing or distracting yourself to keep from seeing the ‘real’ problems? What are you pretending not to see? What’s life going to look like in five to ten years if you do nothing? How would life look in five to ten years if I make the changes now? There’s so much we can do, but we can’t change what we’re not aware of. So many women wanted to protect the betrayer because they were seen in a positive light in the community. This meant many women didn’t seek out the help they needed. A lot of women become more spiritual because of their betrayal. They didn’t trust their world view, so they put trust into something bigger.   Episode Summary: When we hold onto our pain, we accelerate our aging. However, to overcome pain and betrayal is not an easy or linear path at all. In fact, some women may think about the events that transpired over and over, thinking it will help, it doesn’t! It just reopens old wounds and increases our stress levels. Dr. Debi walks you through the four steps needed to recover from betrayal and shares the results of her Ph.D. study that she conducted with women who experienced betrayal from a family member or partner.   Guest Bio: Dr. Debi Silber, founder of PBTInstitute.com, is a Transformational Psychologist and health, mindset, and personal development expert. She’s a speaker, coach, and author of the Amazon #1 Bestselling book: The Unshakable Woman: 4 Steps to Rebuilding Your Body, Mind and Life After a Life Crisis, The Unshakable Woman — The Workbook (the companion guide to the book) as well as two books recommended by Brian Tracy, Marshall Goldsmith, and Jack Canfield.   Debi has contributed to FOX, CBS, The Dr. Oz show, TEDx, The Huffington Post, Shape, Self, Health, Working Mother, Forbes, Psychology Today, WebMD, Ladies Home Journal, Woman's World and Glamour to name a few. Her doctoral study led to two discoveries around how women experience and heal from betrayal. Based on her findings, along with 27 years of health, mindset, and lifestyle coaching, she’s created a multi-pronged approach to help women heal (physically, mentally and emotionally) from a life crisis.   Resources for a Younger Lifestyle: Dr. Robyn Benson’s Free Youthful Aging eGuide Dryoun.com — Download Dr. Youn’s free eBook, Ten Things Every Plastic Surgery Patient Must Know. In episode 76 of Fresh Tracks I speak with transformational psychologist and author Deb Silber about betrayal. When we are betrayed it hits us at a very deep, core part of ourselves and shatters our trust. When experiencing a betrayal, either in your personal or professional life, it’s imperative to process and heal rather than push down the emotions and forge on. Debi shares with us the five stages of healing from betrayal as well as the value of discovering the lessons that are there to be learned when you are betrayed. Both are instrumental in growing through this experience rather than having it ruin you. A betrayal hurts so much because it is intentional. We are forced to face the fact that someone close to us put their needs above ours. Initially, survival instincts and strategies take over and we function on autopilot. In this week’s Fresh Tracks we examine why many people get stuck in survival mode rather than heal and move into the growth phases we are designed to experience. Making meaning of the experience allows you to heal, learn the lesson you are charged with learning, and become the stronger and more resilient person you are meant to be. Where To Find Debi Online: Facebook Twitter LinkedIn Are You Struggling with Post Betrayal Syndrome™? Website EPISODE SUMMARY: Debi and I begin our chat talking about how women deal with betrayal. She talks about the different stages it takes to transform and heal from betrayal. “You can stay stuck for years, decades, a lifetime but if you’re going to go through that transformation, you’re going to go through these five very predictable stages.” - Dr. Debi Silber There are four parts of us that need attending to: the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual. Debi says what she has seen women focus on most is the physical and mental parts but forget to take care of the emotional and spiritual. “If there are four legs of a table and we are only strengthening two, it’s really easy to topple over.” - Dr. Debi Silber Our darkest times can be our greatest gifts. Our mind can talk us out of anything but what if you just trusted what was currently happening and went with it? Debi shares a time when she hit rock bottom and her logical part was telling her what she “should” be doing while her spiritual part was telling her, “What if this was something you need?” So, what if your rock bottom will lead you to something greater? Write a coherent narrative for yourself. Debi invites everyone to do this and it can be very healing! It allows you to take your story and make meaning of it so it becomes a pivotal chapter of your story. “I can stay stuck forever but I can rebuild!” - Dr. Debi Silber We also talk about forgiveness. When it comes to forgiveness, think about the if/then rule. If you feel safe and valued and you forgive, you feel better. If you do not feel safe and valued and forgive, you feel worse. So how do you feel when you’re forgiving somebody? “Forgiveness is a gift you truly give yourself but it’s just a word until you do it!” - Dr. Debi Silber Let’s Connect! Support the podcast! Betrayal is unlike other emotions because it creates problems beyond the immediate pain we feel when we realize we have been betrayed. Betrayal also sows seeds of doubt at a subconscious level, which can create lasting physical and emotional problems. This week I have a conversation with Dr. Debi Silber who has dedicated her research and work to understanding how betrayal impacts us physically and emotionally. More importantly, she has also developed a process (Post Betrayal Transformation) to help heal those wounds. In this conversation we discuss the conditions required for betrayal to happen, how it impacts us, and the first steps towards healing. During the interview Debi refers to a short quiz that you can take to see if you are being impacted by a past betrayal. You can take the quiz here.
