Using Gen's full name, which is Genevieve La Hunt feels a bit weird, and it's not just because she's a good friend of Loz's, my Witching Hour co-host, of course, and the host of Ask Ready or Not. It's because when I jumped off this recording, I felt like I had just chatted with a friend myself. Gen is the founder of Sunday Agency. She works in publicity and PR she's had a really interesting career. But what was more interesting about her was just how real she is. You will not meet anyone who talks as straight as Gen. She really resented owning a business, particularly in the early days of motherhood. She resents that she worked from the hospital. She resents that she sent emails while she was in labor. She doesn't think this girl boss thing really applies when she talks about how she's had to navigate paid work and motherhood Instead, here, she offers something really real. With all that in mind, you could then be expecting a negative piece of conversation, but that's not what you're going to get today. You're going to get a really realistic look into what it's like to navigate business as the mum, as the boss. You're going to hear about her corporate experiences and what the difference between really good management and really terrible management looks like, especially when it comes to her really challenging fertility journey and a traumatic miscarriage,And you're going to learn about what it's taught her, about being a leader and being in business as a parent and with a family today. There's lots of swearing, there's lots of fun. There is so much honesty. It really is one of my favorite conversations to date.—Thanks for listening! The Witching Hour is upon us in this Halloween special, it's time to pull up a rickety, mouldy stool at the near-empty pub, the Brush, Nose and Bone. In this episode, we're joined by a master of horror, Keith Dozois of USB Escape to discuss all things horror in escape rooms. How does horror affect puzzles? What are our best (and worst) experiences with horror? And how do you make horror good in an escape room? As always, here are your recommendations for this month. Jamie - Ice Nine Kills (band), a metalcore whose recent output has been centred around iconic horror films, and was a big inspiration for Jamie's episode this arc. Mairi - Strange Jigsaws (game by fleb), a short digital puzzle game about solving 50 or so rather strange jigsaws. The prequel (20 Small Mazes) is free, if you want to see what sort of thing you're getting yourself into. Jon - Never Let Me Go (novel by Kazuo Ishiguro), a slow gentle book about a trio of young folks in the British countryside but they attend a very unusual school and are on an unusual life trajectory. Keith - Scarlet Envelope for their fantastic puzzle games (yay), and Curios' Albrecht Manor Letters, an epistolary horror experience through writing letters. Two fantastic Canada-based game creators. Hosts: Mairi Nolan, Jon Saunders, Jamie Gibbs Special Guest: Keith Dozois Editor: Jamie Gibbs All links to our social media profiles and our Patreon programme over at https://linktr.ee/theinfiniteescaperoom TLDR: The final episode in the VHS Nightmare arc has the four hosts chatting about all things horror game, and puzzle game design at a spooky pub. The Infinite Escape Room is a comedy escape room podcast where a group of friends make and solve audio escape rooms for one another. It's one part tabletop RPG, one part escape room with a bit of Monkey Island humour sprinkled over the top.

Because my Witching Hour co-host and the host of Ask Ready or Not Loz is the yin to my yang, she always thinks of things that I don't. Take, the other week, for example. My entire family had been sick for over a month and it had left me completely dry of new interviews. When I was fretting about this, Loz said, Lu, there's so many old brilliant episodes that so many of our listeners have never heard. Play one of those. And one person came straight to mind: the queen of magazines and mother to four boys, Justine Cullen. I cringed through listening back to my original intro back in March 2023 in the 18th ever Ready or Not episode, and I want to play a bit for you so we can firstly laugh together and secondly, remind ourselves how far we've all come, because we'll all have an example of this. Here, we talk about why we all love Chilli Heeler, what life looks like when you're parenting both young kids and grown men, and the identity crisis that changed Justine's approach to work. If you want to get up to speed on what Justine is up to now, you can look her up on Instagram, but for now, please enjoy learning from and laughing with someone that I will always think of as iconic. —Thanks for listening! In this episode of Hack Your Own PR, Odette Barry is joined by Lucinda McKimm, journalist-turned-podcaster, producer, and co-host of Ready or Not. Lucinda has built one of Australia's most dynamic podcasts exploring the collision of motherhood, career, and feminism. With her background in sports media and branded content at Cricket Australia, plus years of freelancing and yoga teaching on the side, she brings both grit and creativity to a rapidly growing platform that now spans three weekly shows. We dive into the reality of producing high-calibre, independent content while raising kids, setting boundaries in business partnerships, and why personalisation matters more than ever when pitching to Ready or Not. On Hack Your Own PR, we unpack the art and science of media relations, publicity, and storytelling so you can DIY PR, amplify your voice, and share your message. In this episode, Lucinda breaks down: Her journey from journalism student to Cricket Australia, then into podcasting during parental leave How Ready or Not evolved from an interview series into three shows a week (Ready or Not, Witching Hour, and Ask Ready or Not) What it takes to run a podcast brand at professional standard while balancing freelancing and parenting How she and co-host Loz divide roles, manage workflows, and set boundaries (including "no WhatsApp on Wednesdays") The importance of diversity in guest selection and why she actively seeks different motherhood and career stories What makes for a great pitch, and the red flags that guarantee a "no" Key Takeaways: A strong pitch balances both story and audience: either a killer narrative or an engaged following (ideally both). Tailoring matters — if you've never listened to Ready or Not and send a generic pitch, you won't get far. Guests who amplify their own episode can drive as many downloads as "big name" talent. Honesty and openness make for the most compelling conversations — you don't need to have lived through tragedy to tell a meaningful story. Boundaries protect creativity and longevity: clear roles, set days for work, and rules about when not to message are part of their survival strategy. What to Avoid: Spray-and-pray press releases with no reference to Ready or Not's themes or audience. Long, attached PDFs — put the essentials in the email body. Overlapping pitches during book tours without disclosing where else the guest is appearing. Ignoring the importance of story amplification post-release. This episode is a candid masterclass in independent podcasting, building a brand with integrity, and pitching to a show that's fiercely loved by mums navigating the messy middle of ambition and motherhood. This episode is a masterclass in live TV pitching, producer relationships, and how to turn a great story into a compelling segment on Australia's breakfast screens. In The Witching Hour, Pastor Will opens the series Spooky Stories from the Bible with Saul's haunting visit to a medium in 1 Samuel 28. When fear silences his faith, Saul turns to darkness for control—and loses everything. Pastor Will reminds us that in life's witching hours, we overcome fear not through control, but by trusting God.

#WDRadio Week of Sept 21, 2025: When desperate believers sold everything they owned to follow self-proclaimed prophets promising salvation, they discovered a horrifying truth: the line between divine vision and madness was written in poison, prison bars, and the hangman's noose. From miracle eggs inscribed with holy messages to a 65-year-old virgin claiming to carry the Messiah, this is the disturbing pattern of religious mania that swept through the 19th century, leaving thousands betrayed and broken in its wake.==========HOUR ONE: Claiming to audibly hear from God either makes you crazy, or a prophet – and only time can tell which is true. If you claim things are going to happen because God says they will – and then they don't happen – that means you're cray cray, and a false prophet. That also makes your followers a bunch of dupes. Sadly, the 19th and 20th centuries were full of crazy false prophets with mindless sheep worshipping them. (Creating False Prophets) *** Headline: “Exciting Wake!” When you see the words “exciting” and “wake” in the same headline, you can make a guess that someone is not resting in peace! (Exciting Wake)==========HOUR TWO: “The Witching Hour of 3AM” *** You don't have to go to a cemetery or haunted house to experience the supernatural. You don't need to drive a cursed road to encounter a ghost. Sometimes the paranormal takes place on military bases. (The Military And The Mysterious) *** The corpse of a murderer winds up doing advertising for a drug store. (The Murder of Maggie Walker) *** In 1922, an otherwise unremarkable farmhouse in Novia Scotia was the site of alleged poltergeist activity which made headlines all over Canada and the United States. A poltergeist that liked to set fires. (The Fire Spook of Caledonia Mills)==========SUDDEN DEATH OVERTIME: A smitten fan falls in love with a talented actress, and convinces himself she loves him in return. This sounds very much like a story out of today's entertainment magazines – but this tale of unrequited love took place in the 1880's. (The Lunatic James Dougherty) *** The terrifying Aswang is the most feared creature of Philippine folklore—and with good reason. I'll tell you why. (The Deadly Aswang) ** Reports have been coming in from people claiming to see full-sized African lions not in the Savannah or in the wilderness – but in North America. But is there any truth to the their claims? The FireTech Podcast' Season 2 (2025) examines the emerging dynamics of public-private-people partnerships (4Ps) in building wildfire resilience. Through four conversations with community partners and technical leads, we examine how diverse partners cultivate trust, accountability, and responsiveness to shared wildfire resilience goals on the frontlines. We uncover what responsible innovation for wildfire resilience entails, particularly as it relates to co-developing useful and usable innovations that can amplify capacities on the ground. In this first episode, Wonder Labs' cofounder Shefali J Lakhina speaks with Susan Hartman from the Town of Paradise in California and Lance Adler from The Witching Hour in Tennessee, USA. Susan and Lance came together as one of the Conservation X Labs' Fire Grand Challenge teams last year. They're piloting Witching Hour's robotic system that installs insulation over live power lines, to reduce the risk of utility caused wildfires. Susan Hartman is Community Development Director for the Town of Paradise. She has been with the Town of Paradise for just over 31 years, having worked in Finance, Wastewater, Building, Engineering, Solid Waste, & Planning. She's worked on multiple disasters including the 2008 Butte Lightening Complex (37 fires over 59k acres), 2016 Saddle Fire, the 2017 Oroville Dam Spillway event & the Honey Fire, and the 2018 Camp Fire. Lance Adler is Founder & CEO of Witching Hour, a startup working to prevent wildfires caused by power companies. A former PG&E engineer, Lance understands the need for insulating live power lines using advanced materials and robotics. The Witching Hour's solution is working to reduce faults and ignitions that can lead to catastrophic fires on landscapes and in communities.
