Now at the top of his game and continuing to further improve himself and his career, Mark sits with us to pass a bit of his knowledge over. These recent years have been rough for the world, and more so in the business industry. With COVID-19 developing new strains and quarantines becoming more strict as time goes on, governments are forced to temporarily withhold hundreds of thousands of private businesses to help prevent the spread of the Coronavirus. Because of this, physical businesses are beginning to close down and go bankrupt due to the unavailability of customers. Although a lot of entrepreneurs have taken logistical casualties because of the virus, a good half of the business world learned to adapt to the new normal by establishing online brands and utilizing social media such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and other websites to keep them running. This episode also features Mark's advice on how to start your own online business and keep it running through digital means. Mark Bowness is the founder and director of We Build Tribes, helping thousands of coaches, entrepreneurs, and business owners improve and build their own tribes. He first founded his international business by leasing a 200 acre-island in Fiji to invite the world, welcoming them to become "tribe members." This project, "Tribewanted," earned the spotlight in over 200 media outlets globally.********Topics discussed on the show:********Building YourselfDetaching From OutcomesBuilding ResilienceThe Blue Ocean YouLearn, Then DelegateDealing With OverwhelmFocus on 5 Weekly TasksTime Management********Links and Tools Mentioned:********We Build Tribes:https://webuildtribes.com/The Blue Ocean Strategy:https://www.blueoceanstrategy.com/what-is-blue-ocean-strategy/Evernote:https://evernote.com/Slack:https://slack.com/********You can find Mark at:LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/markbowness/Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/MarkBownessWeBuildTribes/Mark's Website: https://markbowness.com.au/Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/markbowness/Twitter: https://twitter.com/markbowness********

He is also one of the most cynical changemakers I know, and has a unique perspective on staying both motivated and realistic. THE IMPACT. Filippo has worked: -globally, raising awareness as a documentary filmmaker on issues like blood diamonds -locally, quite literally getting his hands in the dirt at Tribewanted, an eco-community in Italy -regionally, organizing with Italia Che Cambia to create a vision for Italy 2040. THE JOURNEY. Some highlights from our conversation: “you need to see the change in your face” "I have failed more times than I've succeeded" “people will change when they’re ready to change” “climate change work is an incredibly difficult process that’s multigenerational” “I will tell my children I tried to be part of the solution” You can follow Filippo on twitter @filippobozotti, his farm and ecotourism work at Tribewanted, and his activism at Italia Che Cambia.

I first met today's guest on the Art of Adventure after a talk he gave at a PechaKucha night in Ubud, Bali. We ran into each other at the coworking space here, Hubud, and I decided I really had to get him on the podcast! Ben Keene is the founder of TribeWanted, initially a project where he and 2000 of his closest friends rented an island in Fiji for five years, which became a book and the subject of a BBC series, and now is a global project with tribes of entrepreneurs in many different countries, including here in Bali. We will hear about Ben's rush to "crowdfund" the project to get it off the ground, back in 2006 before there were crowdfunding sites, and how TribeWanted has progressed into what it is today, and his vision of the future of "lean startup ecotourism". I really dig how cheerful and engaged Ben is, which is impressive, because he has a lot going on - besides Tribewanted, he has projects to find the best swimming holes and tree houses around the world, is an advisor for Virgin Startup, part of THNK - a creative leadership school in Amsterdam, he profiles "schools for life", and works with Right to Dream. Ben is a big thinker and really good at bringing ideas down to your and my level. "Adventure is not knowing whats going to happen, but if your mindset is positive, it will work out" - Ben Keene "What do you want to do with your time?" - Ben Keene "An island represents perfection" - Ben Keene "People are craving community and nature" - Ben Keene "I would teach empathy in every school on earth" - Ben Keene "Work out as early as possible what you are really good at" - Ben Keene "Don't hesitate when it comes time to go for it" - Ben Keene   What you will learn in this episode: -How to rent a private island -The future of sustainable tourism and social enterprise -How to create jobs and income through cultural experiments -How to hack publicity for your project -The difference in crowdfunding n America Vs. Europe -How to figure out what you are really good at -Why you should have an accountability group   Mentioned in this episode: Tribe Wanted BenKeene.com Ben's Book: Tribe Wanted: My Adventure on Paradise or Bust Roost Pool Hunter Thanks Ben Keene! That led to a five-part BBC TV series that aired in the UK, Australia and America. Because if he didn't make it work, then he might just carry out the suicide attempt he was contemplating. Mark became fixated with a pursuit to discover the principles of life change that would take him from "Suicide to Success." And soon, they became clear. The result of the application of those principles was that in a matter of only three months after trying to take his own life, Mark had leased a 200-acre desert island in Fiji, and had created a business called Tribewanted that inspired people to build an eco-community in Fiji, which they could then visit.  Now, in gratitude for the blessings that have occurred in his life, he is sharing the principles that he discovered --the powerful Principles of L.I.F.E Change. WHAT IF - instead of another tired New Year's resolution ...you started 2014 with a New Year's REVOLUTION?That's why Julie Ann invited Mark Bowness to ConsciousSHIFT to share an entirely new approach and pathway to authentic, real - positive - life change. So, why a REVOLUTION - instead of a resolution? As Mark shares: "New Year's resolutions fail as a result of 3 main causes. First, there is no holistic congruent change. We try to change one aspect of our lives and as other aspects remain the same, our old habits are too overwhelming and we quit. Second, we are not equipped with tried-and-tested techniques that educate people in how to change. Third, we are alone in our change and do not have a community around us to keep us going." A New Year's REVOLUTION solves all of those shortcomings. How does Mark know what true change involves?Mark himself made a New Year's Revolution shift his lifefrom 'Suicide to Success."At age 26, Mark's marriage ended. As he sat in his apartment surrounded by everything that he and his wife had built together, he felt his future looked incredibly bleak. After Googling "how to take your own life," Mark made a decision that life was too much to bear and attempted to end the pain. It was while sitting in a hospital bed after trying to wipe his existence off the face of the planet that he realized he had been alive for 26 years, and yet, he had never truly lived. As the New Year approached, Mark began to contemplate what his New Year's resolution would be. After comprehending that his previous resolutions had failed, he began to understand that changing one element of his life, while other elements remained the same, was futile. In fact, what his life needed was a complete overhaul - a REVOLUTION. Mark became fixated to discover the principles of life change that would take him from "Suicide to Success." And soon, they became clear. The result of the application of those principles was that in a matter of only 3 months after trying to take his own life, Mark had leased a 200-acre desert island in Fiji, and had created a business called Tribewanted that inspired people to build an eco-community, which they could then visit. Invitado: Leo Prieto.
