Esta semana, en un nuevo capítulo de Rebelión Sónica, nos concentramos en la obra de la importante banda belga de rock de cámara Univers Zero, con material de dos de sus discos: el recientemente editado “Lueur” y el debut de 1977 homónimo, también conocido como “1313”. La emblemáticas agrupación del Rock In Opposition liderada por el compositor y percusionista Daniel Denis lanzó su nuevo trabajo el 24 de noviembre con el sello Sub Rosa y es el primero en nueve años, pues es el sucesor de “Phosphorescent Dreams” de 2014. “Lueur”, explica la disquera, “es el fruto de dos años de trabajo y reflexión, cuyas bases fueron puestas por Daniel Denis (teclados, batería, percusión), luego enriquecidas por las contribuciones de Nicolas Dechêne (guitarras), Kurt Budé (clarinete / clarinete bajo) y Nicolas Denis (bajo, percusión, voz), los tres presentes en “Phosphorescent Dreams”. Con esta reducida formación, “Lueur” ofrece un viaje denso, arraigado en el equilibrio entre potencia y sonido tranquilo, furioso y sereno. Un equilibrio también entre arreglos complejos y momentos más contemplativos. Si bien este álbum continúa la tradición de rock de vanguardia de Univers Zero, también presenta algunas piezas muy cortas, sonidos más electrónicos, tribales e inquietantes, y un trabajo de voz que es nuevo en el universo de la banda. La discográfica añade que “entre tradición y sutil evolución, “Lueur” es una gran novedad en la discografía de la banda, que celebrará su cincuentenario en 2024. Univers Zero representa una de las bandas más longevas de Bélgica. Fue fundada en 1974”. Al final del programa, viajamos al pasado en el catálogo de la banda, para escucharlos con material de su celebrado disco debut de 1977, “1313”.

Esta semana, en una nueva edición de Rebelión Sónica, destacamos el nuevo y segundo disco del ensamble nacional Asceta, “Erebus, La Suite de las Sombras”, además de dos clásicos europeos asociados al Rock In Opposition: los belgas Univers Zero y los franceses Shub-Niggurath. “Erebus, La Suite de las Sombras” fue editado por el sello mexicano Azafrán Media Label a fines de julio y se trata de “un álbum conceptual sobre los altibajos de Erebus, un enigmático hechicero que se mete en los sueños del Asceta, robando fragmentos de música onírica que intenta transformar el sufrimiento en armonía con su alquimia”. La etiqueta explica sobre Asceta, que es un conjunto de música moderna, creado en Santiago de Chile, en 2020, por el músico y compositor Rodrigo Maccioni, quien también es miembro de la banda progresiva Abrete Gandul. Azafrán agrega que el ensamble sigue los pasos del legendaras bandas de culto como Univers Zéro, Julverne, Nazca, Miriodor, Art Zoyd y Present. “Es Rock in Opposition”. El texto remata indicando que “la estética musical se puede catalogar como rock de cámara o RIO, en la que no predominan los instrumentos comunes de una banda de rock, sino más bien, destaca un sonido más acústico y de cámara. El resultado es música con un carácter dramático, muy ecléctico y diverso, con tintes oscuros e y atmósferas hipnóticas, incluso paisajes de sencillez y belleza”. Asceta está integrado por Rodrigo Maccioni en guitarra eléctrica, flauta de concierto de madera y sintetizador, Cristián Peralta en chelo, Alfonso Vergara en clarinete y clarinete bajo, Arianne Guerra en violín, Alejandro Vera en fagot, Eduardo Rubio en bajo eléctrico y contrabajo y Leonardo Saavedra en batería y percusión. Además, participan los músicos invitados Óscar Pizarro en piano y Pascal Montenegro en oboe y corno inglés. En la parte final del programa, viajamos al pasado para escuchar a dos referentes del rock de cámara: los belgas Univers Zero con material de su disco “Heatwave” de 1987 y los franceses Shub-Niggurath con música de su álbum de 1991, “C´Etaient De Tres Grands Vents”.

Hello everyone and welcome to another edition of Interviewing the Legends I'm your host Ray Shasho. Formed in 1991, Anekdoten is a Swedish progressive rock band. They are notable for the use of the mellotron, and their heavy sound dominated by a pounding bass guitar. Their music is associated with the tradition of 1970s progressive rock music, especially that of King Crimson. Since 2015 former The Church guitarist Marty Willson-Piper has been touring with the band. Anekdoten are considered one of the leading bands in contemporary progressive rock. Their intensive, dark, dynamic and for each subsequent release more original music have also made an appeal among metal-, goth- and post-rock fans all over the world. The group has released 5 studio albums on their own Virta-label and 3 live albums in Japan. Their debut album ‘Vemod' was released in 1993 and caused a considerable stir within the prog community. The success of the debut album opened up for both a first European- and American tour in 1994. The band's most recent release is entitled Until All the Ghosts Are Gone. Rumor has it that they are currently working on a brand-new album. Guitarist/singer/songwriter Nicklas Barker released a solo album called EPEKTASIS in 2022. The sixth album, "Until All The Ghosts Are Gone" (2015), took eight years to come to life. The time needed for ANEKDOTEN to fully focus its energy and its inspiration. The result is, six tracks both sublime and without concession, worth of the Golden Age of the band. Primera parte del repaso a una de las bandas más influyentes de la historia del rock de vanguardia: Univers Zero. Una de las bandas fundadoras del colectivo Rock In Opposition, es el ejemplo más paradigmático del llamado rock de cámara, que tantas bandas han tomado como modelo en las últimas décadas. Con una gran influencia de compositores de música clásica de la primera mitad del siglo XX como Stravinsky o Bartók, junto con la búsqueda de un sonido y ambientación muy oscura y un particular colorido instrumental, estamos ante una banda con una fuerte personalidad convertida en un icono del rock progresivo más arriesgado. Esta semana, en el segundo capítulo de la temporada 2021 de Rebelión Sónica, homenajeamos al gran guitarrista y compositor belga Roger Trigaux, quien lamentablemente falleció la semana pasada en Bruselas, a los 70 años de edad. Responsable de una obra vasta y compleja, Trigaux fue uno de los fundadores de la importante banda del Rock In Opposition, Univers Zero, con los que editó sus dos primeros discos: “Univers Zero” de 1977 -después conocido como “1313”- y “Heresie” de 1979. Tras dejar su banda primaria, el músico fundó Present, otra agrupación de largo alcance estético que, como pocas, supo fusionar rock, progresivo, vanguardia y música clásica contemporánea, en un híbrido denso, oscuro y en extremo potente de música actual. En este capítulo dedicado a su memoria, escucharemos material compuesto por Trigaux del disco debut de Univers Zero, para luego, viajar por tres álbumes de Present: “Le Poison Qui Rend Fou” de 1985, “No. 6” de 1999 y “A Great Inhumane Adventure” de 2005. Como ya es tradición, Rebelión Sónica sale al aire por radio Rockaxis todos los miércoles a las 10, 17 y 23 horas -se repite los domingos a las 19-, con la conducción de Héctor Aravena.
