After a couple of weekends on tour, social media threw a wobbler to welcome Gav and James back with a bump as well as Brand New, Dragged Into Sunlight and poor old Clutch under the bus. We wade through the murky waters of cancel culture, questionable decision making and an unwillingness to be straight with ticket buyers before lightening the mood with some Burzum banter.Laughs galore. We go again, every Thursday morning.

Guess who's back mit schwerem Gepäck!
Hark! What's that on the distant horizon? Could it be a Very Special Episode of Terminus? It certainly is, one brought out for that most special of occasions--a new Burzum... album? Compilation? Collection of thematically related tracks? That's just one of the many, many questions this record inspires. Burzum is back to metal-- or something like it, at least-- and it's certainly an unusual take on the style. Combining neofolk, doom, ambient, and black metal, Burzum's new record suggests an entirely new model of folk music-- one that attempts to bring the past alive in a more literal sense than most. (A quick note: another episode will be released this week. We decided to make this a solo episode because, c'mon, it's Burzum!) 0:00:00 - Intro 0:01:07 - Burzum - The Land of Thule (Byelobog Productions) 1:15:01 - Outro - Burzum - “Glemselens Elv,” fr. [originally published on Patreon Sep 10, 2022] In part 2 of 4, I revisit and reiterate the Cathars' cosmology and the situation leading up to the Albigensian crusade. Along the way I discuss Thomas Pynchon and his essay on the Luddites. Then I discuss the period of time immediately before and leading up to the Albigensian Crusade, namely two Cistercian preaching missions to the Languedoc. One of these was spearheaded by Bernard of Clairvaux. In particular, I utilize a dissertation which posits alternate or additional, dare I say parapolitical reasons for these preaching missions. This, too, is setup for the following episode. Songs: Balferd Baldrs by Burzum
This week, Sally's guest is Chicago artist and friend Clyde Moreau. The two go ape-crap discussing John Frusciante's Niandra Lades And Usually Just A T-Shirt, their mutual favorite album of all time. Clyde rightfully proposes that this album becomes a staple in every Black household, and Sally asks, "Why Paramore, and not this?". Both want to wish John a happy belated birthday (and ask John to wish them a belated happy birthday back), Sally mildly threatens all of Clyde's shout-outs, Burzum mentioned, Black twitter is ready to erupt upon publishing. The ever-talented Lena Scissorhands of Infected Rain is our guest on this week's episode of The MetalSucks Podcast! During our time together, we discuss the band's latest album Time out February 9. Other, totally not super heady topics also get discussed, such as the journey we all take to ensure we're not wasting time, the realization of how a toxic element in your life can affect you, and how singing the new songs live will take an emotional toll on her. We also chat about the music videos and how they were created, capturing a vulnerable moment that was genuine and sharing it with her fans, and her love for movies. Petar and Brandon discuss MetalSucks reader's poll on who the fans think is metal's favorite asshole, Kanye West doubling down on his antisemitism by wearing a Burzum shirt, and Martyrdom throwing a pig's head out at the audience during a live show. What a CreepSeason 23, Episode 5Ye/Varg Vikernes/BurzumKanye West “Ye” is a one-person horrible public relations machine. If it's not his ego, the misogyny, the bad music, and/or public ranting--you can always count on him to praise people like Adolph Hitler. In this episode, we talk about his latest stunt that sent shockwaves wherein he wore a t-shirt for a Norwegian death metal band (Burzum), showing he hasn't learned anything since the last time he acted up. In this latest serving of the Kings of Punk Podcast, your hosts go full-throttle into unpleasant territory. The first half of the podcast sees them dissect the eyebrow-raising, discourse-provoking fashion choice made by Kanye West - spotted rocking a t-shirt for contentious, notorious, neuroatypical Black Metal artist BURZUM. Expect a mix of incisive commentary and indecent banter as always. In the second half of this episode, the Kings of Punk switch gears to thrash the musical monstrosity that is 'Punk Goes Crunk.' If you've ever wondered why this album even exists, you're not alone: your hosts pose the questions, "Who thought this was a good idea? Who the fuck greenlit this?" They explore how this ill-conceived album, which butchered rap (not "crunk") by forcibly fusing it with the worst music ever (whatever it is, not "punk"), has unfortunately influenced music. Prepare for a hilarious, perhaps grueling at times, listen as the KINGS move in for the KILL.

Kanye is trying to release a new record, Vultures, with Ty Dolla $ign, and his enemies are refusing to get its samples cleared, leaving the record unreleased. Kanye, of course, isn't staying quiet about what's happening behind the scenes, and treated the world to a 15 minute rant against his many enemies, ranging from LVMH CEO Bernard Arnaut, the Rothschilds, Jay-Z, and Drake among them, as well as the abandonment of the family that has left him adrift. It's powerful stuff, and of course he isn't exactly taking it easy on Zionists either. The controversy and aura around a Kanye release is what makes him the most important artist alive. He is perhaps the only living CONTEMPORARY artist, one who channels the multitudes and contradictions and informational channels crossing over of digital culture. He is the richest and most powerful artist of our lifetimes, one who has made billions not just for himself but for others, but he still manages to embody the rebel spirit of industrial music culture or dada. He's Artaud, Bowie, Michael Jackson, and William Benett at once. With all of us excited about Vultures coming out, we brought out another Kanye head — the photographer Matthew Denicola — to discuss the man. This week we're discussing every album by the infamous Mayhem. While they are known for pioneering modern black metal in Norway, most people know them because of their horrific, bloody, and disturbing history. Seriously, if you're unfamiliar, grab some popcorn before you listen. Formed and led by Euronymous (Øystein Aarseth) until his murder by then bassist Varg Vikernes (of Burzum) in 1993, Mayhem continues to put out great albums with various lineups. However, they are held down by longtime drummer Hellhammer and bassist Necrobutcher. This band's music is as intense as their reputation, so get ready.Closing track: “Cursed in Eternity” from De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas (1994)Patreonhttps://www.patreon.com/everyalbumeverMerchhttps://pandermonkey.creator-spring.com/Mike's EP:Pander Monkey on Bandcamp, Spotify, Apple,Instagram:Mike @pandermonkeyAlex @everyalbumalexHistory Tom's stuff:New album on BandcampDebut album on Bandcamp, Spotify, AppleSubstackWebsiteMike's Picks:De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas (1994) — Best Album, Personal FavoriteChimera (2004) — Worst Album, Least FavoriteAlex's Picks:De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas (1994) — Best AlbumEsoteric Warfare (2014) — Personal FavoriteChimera (2004) — Worst Album, Least FavoriteAlbums we discussed this episode…Deathcrush EP (1987)De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas (1994)Grand Declaration of War (2000)Chimera (2004)Ordo ad Chao (2007)Esoteric Warfare (2014)Daemon (2019)
For the month of October we are the PUNAtic Black Metal Podcast, and me and Rupp are stating at the beginning from Venom to Burzum
On the song “Freezing Moon,” lead singer of Mayhem howls,“Diabolic shapes float by/Out from the dark/I remember it was here I died”. It's an oddly prophetic line, considering two members of the band would be dead by 1994, the year the album was finally released. Mayhem was central to the Norwegian black metal scene and most of the members were a part of the Black Circle. The Black Circle was a loosely organized group of black metal musicians who set about burning down churches and committing petty crimes across Norway. Stoked by two demagogues, the group told the public that their motive was to antagonize the Christian church and to do as much evil as possible. Last week, we set the stage. Join us now for its bloody end.Sources:Lords of Chaos by Michael Moynihan and Didrik SøderlindBlack Metal: Evolution of the Cult by Dayal Pattersonhttps://www.musicgenreslist.com/metal-music-genre/https://www.allmusic.com/artist/mayhem-mn0000335302/biographyhttps://metalinjection.net/black-metal-chronicles/black-metal-history-month/an-illustrated-history-of-corpse-painthttps://www.last.fm/music/Mayhem/+wikihttps://www.villagevoice.com/until-the-light-takes-us-a-norwegian-black-metal-documentary/https://www.macrotrends.net/states/minnesota/murder-homicide-rate-statisticshttps://knoema.com/atlas/Norway/Homicide-rate#:~:text=In%202021%2C%20homicide%20rate%20for,per%20100%2C000%20population%20in%202021.Follow us, campers!Patreon (join to get all episodes ad-free, at least a day early, an extra episode a month, and a free sticker!): https://patreon.com/TrueCrimeCampfireFacebook: True Crime CampfireInstagram: https://gramha.net/profile/truecrimecampfire/19093397079Twitter: @TCCampfire https://twitter.com/TCCampfireEmail: truecrimecampfirepod@gmail.comMERCH! https://true-crime-campfire.myspreadshop.com/This show is part of the Spreaker Prime Network, if you are interested in advertising on this podcast, contact us at https://www.spreaker.com/show/4251960/advertisement

Mayhem's early career was highly controversial, primarily due to their notorious live performances, the 1991 suicide of vocalist Per Yngve Ohlin ("Dead") and the 1993 murder of guitarist Øystein Aarseth ("Euronymous") by former member Varg Vikernes ("Count Grishnackh") of Burzum.Original Airdate 4/29/14Disclaimer: The following may contain offensive language, adult humor, and/or content that some viewers may find offensive – The views and opinions expressed by any one speaker does not explicitly or necessarily reflect or represent those of Mark Radulich or W2M Network.Mark Radulich and his wacky podcast on all the things:https://linktr.ee/markkind76alsosnapchat: markkind76FB Messenger: Mark Radulich LCSWTiktok: @markradulichtwitter: @MarkRadulich

Never has there been a more extreme form of musical rebellion than Norwegian Black Metal. The genre's founding band, Mayhem, its sister act, Burzum and supporting cast of musicians with names like, Necrobutcher, Hellhammer and Dead horrified Norway in the early nineties with supreme acts of terror, satanic ritualism, murder, arson and cannibalism. By the time the ashes settled and the corpse paint chipped away, numerous band members would be dead or in jail, convicted of arson and or murder… and a new generation of young metalheads would find their way to satanism through blast beats and dead notes. Arson. Church burnings. Anti-Semitism. Murder. Suicide. Satanism. Cannibalism. Necrophilia. These are all things, images, that have been closely associated with the music genre black metal. Whereas the association is generally unfair, more than a handful of heinous crimes happened in the early 90s BM scene. Bands like Mayhem, with its founder Euronymous. Varg Vikerness' Burzum. And we're going to cover some of them over the next two episodes. This episode covers anti-Semite Varg Vikerness, from the beginning of his 21-year prison sentence for the murder of his bandmate Euronymous, to his prison escape and eventual release.Strap in. Eliot Thompson (Pure Chaos Comedy) joins the program to discuss the icy and terrifying Filosofem by Burzum. Together we attempt to disentangle the significance of this musical work from the loathsomeness of its creator. Here comes part 2 of the much-requested series on the black metal deaths of the 1990's. This episode picks up after Mayhem's frontman Dead killed himself. It covers the church burnings, and Faust and Varg both committing murder in cold blood. Don't know what that even means? We read the 1997 classic, Varsgmal, a manifesto on Norwegian cultural destiny written by the infamous Norwegian black metal artist, Varg Vikernes. Varg was the bass guitarist for Mayhem, one of the most influential bands in the black metal genre, on their first album before he murdered his bandmate, Euronymous. In addition to the murder of Euronymous, Varg was also convicted for the burning of several Christian churches. Whilst in prison, Varg produced music under the name Burzum and wrote this manifesto, Vargsmal, exploring Norwegian race politics, national destiny and advocating the return to pre-Christian heathen culture.

The Boyz get metal in this Norwegian episode. Join us as we take a look at the infamous band Mayhem, the church burnings, Satan, and MURDER!!!
What would you be willing to do to cement your legacy in music history? Before we look into that question, Bailey is going to tell us about a tree. That has more legal sovereignty than a lot of Americans do.After that, Ben introduces us to a Danish explorer (among other things) Peter Freuchen. His entire life could be a standalone episode of Weird Shit, so Ben picked his favorite anecdote about the time Freuchen survived an avalanche because of a bowel movement. And lastly, Ian keeps it in Scandinavia but fast forwards to the early 90s, when the infamous genre of black metal formed, and then escalated. If you wanted the respect of your peers as a black metal musician, you needed to do more than write Satanic lyrics and paint your face.Let's get weird.Make sure to follow @CultTalkNet on Instagram, Twitter, Patreon, Facebook, and TikTok for more Groovy and Weird content!

Isolation causes people to do funny things. Sometimes brilliant, sometimes mad, often both. We're both under the recommended self-quarantine and as we're waiting for this pandemic to hopefully quickly subside. We started thinking about albums that were made while in confinement. Many came to mind quickly. The Rolling Stones recorded Exile on Main Street while holed in France avoiding tax penalties. Of course, that is less like quarantine and more like a weekend at Caligula's. Bon Iver's post-break-up self induced retreat in a hunting cabin turned into For Emma, Forever Ago. Songs of Pain by Daniel Johnston was recorded in his parents basement as his bipolar swings made social engagements tremendously difficult. The majority of Cat Power's Moon Pix was written during a terrifying hallucinatory nightmare while left alone in a farmhouse in the middle of nowhere. And of course, David Allen Coe, Charles Manson, that psycho guy from Burzum, and countless hip hop artists made records while incarcerated. That's when we remembered Camper Van Beethoven's Tusk. As we recalled, the band got snowed in at a cabin somewhere in the depths of the California mountains in the late 80s. To stave off boredom, the band did a track by track remake of the Fleetwood Mac maligned bizarro AOR classic, Tusk. CVB got through most of the tracks before the thaw, stashed the tapes, and went about their merry way. Many years later, about to embark on a reunion tour, the band found the tapes, cleaned them up, added and rerecorded bits, and released the record. We both love Camper Van Beethoven and Tusk, so we decided it would be a good exercise in exploring what happens to bands when cabin fever sets in. So, today, break into your emergency vodka, settle into your confinement, and check your supply of toilet paper as we cover the bizarre tale of Camper Van Beethoven's Tusk.Highway Hi-Fi is a proud member of the Pantheon Music Podcast Network - Home of the Finest Music Podcasts
